Use your console’s built-in save-data route: transfer the PS4 data to PS5 through Sony’s Data Transfer feature, or let Xbox cloud saves sync from Xbox One to Series X|S. These are platform-level methods, not confirmed Metro Redux save-migration guarantees. Open the same game edition on the new console and check your campaign progress before deleting or resetting anything on the old one.
Before you transfer a Metro Redux save
- Keep your PS4 or Xbox One and its save data intact until you have verified your progress on the new console.
- Use the same account on the destination console that was used for the original save.
- After the transfer or cloud sync, launch the Metro Redux edition associated with that save. The available sources do not establish that a particular Redux save will transfer or load successfully.
Transfer a PS4 save to PS5
Sony provides a general PS4-to-PS5 saved-data transfer process. Metro Redux’s PlayStation Store listing says the PS4 edition is playable on PS5, but that compatibility information does not confirm that every Redux save will migrate. Sony’s instructions cover games playable on PS5. Sony’s PS4-to-PS5 data-transfer guide and the Metro Redux PlayStation Store listing provide the platform details.
Transfer during PS5 setup
Follow the PS5 setup prompts to transfer data from your PS4. Have both consoles available, signed in to the same account and connected to the same network. Update their system software and synchronize trophies as Sony advises.

Transfer after PS5 setup
- On PS5, open Settings > System > System Software > Data Transfer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your PS4 and select the data to transfer.
- When the transfer finishes, start the same Metro Redux game edition and check whether your campaign save appears.
Sony’s backward-compatibility information says the overwhelming majority of PS4 games can be played on PS5 and describes data transfer for digital games and game data. The sources do not identify a separate native PS5 edition of Metro Redux or a game-specific save-import feature, so use the PS4 edition tied to the save rather than assuming an edition change will carry progress. Sony’s PS5 backward-compatibility guide has its general compatibility information.

Transfer an Xbox One save to Xbox Series X|S
Microsoft describes cloud save transfer between Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S as part of its platform-level backward-compatibility support. Its page covers select Xbox One games but does not name Metro Redux or confirm how a Redux save behaves. Microsoft’s Xbox backward-compatibility page explains the general route.
- On Xbox One, connect to Xbox network using the account associated with the save, and allow the game save to sync to the cloud.
- On Xbox Series X|S, sign in with that same account and connect to Xbox network.
- Start the same Metro Redux game edition and allow any cloud-save synchronization to finish before checking the campaign.
If the expected save does not appear, do not delete the original save or overwrite it with a new campaign. The cited Microsoft information establishes the general cloud-save feature, not a Metro Redux-specific recovery procedure or successful transfer.

Do not apply Metro Exodus save rules to Metro Redux
Metro Redux collects Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light; Metro Exodus is a separate game. The official Metro article about Exodus’s next-generation release says its Xbox transfer works chapter by chapter and excludes autosaves and mid-chapter saves. It also describes no PlayStation save transfer for Exodus and mentions chapter unlocks for starting at a selected level. Those instructions are specifically for Exodus and do not establish how Redux saves work. The Metro Exodus next-generation upgrade article should not be used as a Redux transfer guide.
