For a Windows source PC, Samsung’s Galaxy Book Smart Switch is the documented way to move selected data to a new Galaxy Book6. Install the app on both computers, connect them to the same network—or use a USB cable if networking is unavailable—then choose Send data on the old PC and Receive data on the new one. Samsung lists system settings, documents, and Microsoft Store apps as transferable categories; it does not describe this as a complete PC clone.
Check that your old computer is supported
Samsung says Galaxy Book Smart Switch can transfer data from a Windows PC to a new Galaxy Book from 2021 or later. Samsung’s guide states: “Galaxy Book Smart Switch can only transfer data from a Windows PC.” The cited instructions do not establish a Smart Switch migration route from a Mac. Samsung names three categories: system settings, documents, and Microsoft Store apps. You can select categories and choose particular documents or folders. The guide does not promise that desktop programs, logins, software licenses, browser profiles, or every preference will be moved. Plan to install or configure those separately as needed, following the instructions for each program or account.

- Make sure the source is a Windows PC and the destination is your Galaxy Book6.
- Install Galaxy Book Smart Switch on both computers and open the app on each.
- Choose a connection: put both computers on the same Wi-Fi or Ethernet network, or use a USB cable if a shared network is unavailable. Samsung does not specify a cable connector or standard in the cited instructions.
Samsung’s UK Smart Switch instructions also describe the shared-network and USB-cable options. They do not provide a transfer-speed estimate.

Transfer data with Galaxy Book Smart Switch
- Open Galaxy Book Smart Switch on the old Windows PC and the Galaxy Book6.
- Connect both computers to the same Wi-Fi or Ethernet network, or connect them with a USB cable if networking is unavailable.
- On the old computer, select Send data. On the Galaxy Book6, select Receive data.
- Allow the connection when prompted.
- Choose the data categories to transfer. If you want to limit the move, browse into the documents or folders and select only the items you need.
- If offered, change the destination storage location to suit where you want the transferred files saved.
- Select Transfer, then follow the completion prompts on both computers.

The Galaxy Book6’s ports vary by model and market. For example, Samsung lists two USB-C ports and one USB 3.2 port on a specific 14-inch UK Galaxy Book6 Core 5 configuration—not as a universal specification. If Smart Switch is not the right fit
- Your old computer is a Mac: the cited Samsung guide limits Smart Switch source support to Windows PCs. It does not establish Mac support.
- You mainly need personal files: copy the selected files manually to an external drive if that suits your setup. This will not move settings or installed software.
- You need programs, accounts, or licenses: Samsung’s documented categories do not establish that these transfer. Check each application or account’s own process for installation, sign-in, and license activation.
