To transfer apps, photos, and contacts to a new Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G, use Android’s copy-and-transfer option during the phone’s initial setup. You can copy directly from an Android phone or iPhone, or restore data from a Google backup if the old phone is unavailable. The exact screens and options may vary; Google’s instructions are general Android guidance, not a Lava-specific setup guide.
Before you start
- Charge both phones and make sure you can unlock the old one with its PIN, pattern, or password.
- Connect the new phone to Wi-Fi or another internet connection. Have the Google Account used for your contacts and backups ready.
- If you plan to connect the phones by cable, check both phones’ ports and obtain a cable or adapter that fits. The Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G’s connector has not been verified here, so do not assume a particular cable will fit.
- Identify apps that use their own sign-in, backup, or export process. Android setup may copy apps and some app data, but not every app or its private data.
Google recommends transferring during setup because the copy option may not be available later. See Google’s instructions for copying apps and data and its guide to switching to a new Android device.
Choose a transfer method
For Android-to-Android transfers, Google supports both wired and wireless copying, and says the methods support the same data. Choose based on what you have available; there is no verified Lava-specific speed or data-coverage advantage for either route.

Transfer directly from an Android phone
- Turn on the Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G and begin its setup.
- When asked whether to copy apps and data, choose the option to copy from an Android device.
- Follow the on-screen pairing instructions. Select a compatible cable connection or the wireless option.
- Unlock the old phone and choose the data categories you want to copy.
- Keep the phones connected until the new phone reports that copying is complete. Google gives a general estimate of a few minutes to over an hour; actual time depends on the amount of data.
- Sign in to the relevant Google Account, then check the new phone’s apps, photos, and contacts.

Transfer from an iPhone
Android setup can offer a way to copy data from an iPhone or iPad. On the Lava phone, follow the prompts and use the wireless pairing or cable route offered on screen; choose the data categories you want to move. Available options depend on the devices and setup flow.

If your photos and videos are in iCloud, Google points to a separate process for transferring them to Google Photos. If you want to keep receiving text messages on Android, you may need to turn off iMessage on the old iPhone. See Google’s switching guide for its current instructions.
Restore a Google backup if the old phone is unavailable
During setup, skip pairing with another device, connect the Lava phone to Wi-Fi, and sign in to the Google Account associated with the backup. Choose an available backup when prompted. Only information that was backed up to that account can be restored; a backup will not recover items that were never included in it. Recover items that are missing or transfer setup was skipped
Contacts
Sign in to the Google Account that stores your contacts; Google-synced contacts should appear. If contacts are on the SIM, import them using the contacts app’s available import option. Contacts synced through another service may require that service’s app or its own export-and-import process.
Photos and videos
Use Google Photos or Google Drive to move items that are backed up there. For photos in another gallery service or a hidden folder, check that app’s backup or export process rather than assuming Android setup copied them.

Apps and app data
Reinstall missing apps from Google Play and sign in. For data that did not return, check whether the app offers its own backup, sync, or restore process. Google notes that apps outside Google Play and data from apps that do not use Android backup are not copied through setup.
Downloads and other files
Copy files such as PDFs separately if they are not included in setup or backup. Google recommends manual file transfer when the setup or backup options do not cover an item. Its copying guide lists common exclusions.

Check these items before wiping the old phone
Google’s Android-to-Android setup guide says the following may not copy automatically:
- Downloads such as PDFs and media in hidden folders.
- Apps installed outside Google Play and data from apps that do not use Android backup.
- Some non-Google accounts and their data, plus contacts and calendars synced outside Google.
- Ringtones and some device settings.
Work- or school-managed phones may also restrict transfers. Confirm that important files, accounts, contacts, photos, and app data are present on the Lava phone before resetting, trading in, or recycling the old one. See Google’s copy-and-data guidance and its device-switching guide.
What is specific to the Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G?
A Gadgets 360 report dated September 29, 2026, says the Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G launched in India with Android 16. That report does not establish the phone’s exact transfer screens, USB connector, backup features, or regional variants. No model-specific migration guide is available in the cited sources, so use the prompts shown on your handset rather than relying on assumed Lava menu names or a dedicated Lava transfer app. Lava’s official site is available for manufacturer support information.
