You can transfer an eSIM to a new Galaxy with Samsung’s Instant Transfer feature when your carrier and exact phone model support it. The new phone must be unlocked. Keep both phones available until the new Galaxy has activated the eSIM and you have tested service; if Instant Transfer is unavailable, ask your carrier for a replacement eSIM QR code or activation code.
Check eligibility before you start
Samsung’s Instant Transfer can move an existing SIM profile and number from an old Galaxy or other Android phone to a new Galaxy without contacting the carrier, but availability depends on the carrier and device. Samsung also requires the new phone to be unlocked. Its supported-device list covers selected Galaxy S, Z, FE, A, XCover, and tablet models, and eSIM availability may depend on the device’s country of origin.
Check Samsung’s Galaxy eSIM and supported network carriers page for the relevant country, carrier, and device details. The linked page is Samsung Singapore’s support page; carrier availability and model support can vary by region and change over time. A carrier appearing on a list does not establish that every account or plan is eligible, so confirm your specific line with the carrier if anything is unclear.

Prepare both phones to reduce the chance of a service gap
- Connect the new Galaxy to Wi-Fi if available, and keep both phones nearby and charged. These are practical precautions, not Samsung eligibility requirements.
- Do not erase, trade in, or reset the old phone yet. You will need it to approve and finish the transfer.
- Have a way to contact your carrier, such as Wi-Fi calling or another working phone, in case activation needs assistance.
Transfer the eSIM with Galaxy Instant Transfer
- On the new Galaxy, open Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM.
- Tap Transfer SIM from Galaxy/Android phone.
- Approve the transfer prompt on the old phone.
- Enter on the old phone the six-digit verification code shown on the new Galaxy.
- Select the number to move on the new phone, then confirm the transfer on both devices.
- Finish the transfer on the old phone. Samsung says the eSIM profile for the selected number will download and activate on the new Galaxy.
Menu wording may differ by software version or region. If the transfer menu is missing, do not assume the phone is defective: check the model, carrier, and unlocked-device requirements first.

Verify service before wiping the old phone
Wait for the new Galaxy to report that the eSIM is active, then check that it has cellular service. Place a call or test mobile data before erasing or trading in the old phone. This check helps catch an activation problem while you still have both devices; it cannot guarantee that every carrier will complete activation immediately.
If Instant Transfer is missing or does not complete
Samsung also documents adding an eSIM by scanning a QR code from the carrier or entering a carrier-provided activation code. Contact your carrier to request a replacement or reissued eSIM and get instructions for your account. Ask whether an existing QR code is still valid rather than assuming it can be reused.

If service is interrupted, use Wi-Fi or another working phone to contact the carrier. Ask whether the old eSIM profile has been deactivated, whether the new profile has been provisioned, and whether the account needs additional verification. The carrier can confirm which steps apply to your line.
