Use Playwright to visit a product page, read the displayed price into structured data, and save a screenshot that shows the surrounding offer context. Keep the price record and image together with the capture time, URL, marketplace, product identifier, currency, and any visible seller or promotion details. A screenshot is evidence of what appeared at that moment—not a price-history database, proof that an offer stayed available, or permission to automate collection.
For ongoing tracking, first check whether the marketplace offers an authorized structured-data route. Flipkart and Amazon India document conditional API access; the current Myntra position is not established by the sources cited here. Treat each marketplace separately and do not try to work around access controls.
What to record for each price observation
Keep machine-readable fields separate from the screenshot. That lets your application sort observations, detect changes, and send alerts, while the image provides visual context for later review.
- Marketplace and product identity: record the site and its product identifier where available. Preserve the page URL as well. A product and a particular seller’s offer are not necessarily the same thing.
- Observed offer: store the displayed amount, currency, and visible seller, discount, or promotion context. Do not assume a displayed discount applies to every buyer or remains available.
- Capture time: save a timestamp with each observation so that prices from different visits can be ordered.
- Screenshot: retain the image with the observation, and choose a capture that includes enough of the page to identify what the displayed price refers to.
This is a practical record design, not a schema mandated by Playwright or a marketplace. Playwright provides screenshot and page-inspection capabilities; your application decides how to store observations.

Build a basic Playwright capture
The example below uses Node.js and Playwright’s locator API. Marketplace page structure changes, so the product and price selectors are intentionally placeholders: inspect the permitted page and replace them with selectors that match its current markup. Do not guess a selector and treat an unrelated number—such as an installment amount—as the product price.
Install Playwright
- Install a current Node.js release compatible with the Playwright version you choose.
- In your project directory, run
npm install playwright. - Install the browser binaries with
npx playwright install chromium.
Read the displayed price and save its context
Save this as track-price.mjs. Set PRODUCT_URL to a product page you are authorized to access, then replace PRODUCT_NAME_SELECTOR and PRICE_SELECTOR with selectors verified for that page.

For comparisons or alerts, add marketplace-specific parsing and validation: preserve the original text, normalize the numeric amount and currency separately, and flag values that do not match the expected format. The example does not handle login, consent, bot checks, or marketplace-specific authorization; follow the site’s applicable terms and stop if access is blocked.

Choose a screenshot that answers the audit question
Price element
Use an element screenshot when you need a compact record of the price area. It can be difficult to interpret without the product name, seller, or promotion nearby, so capture the relevant parent element instead if the price alone omits that context.
Viewport
A viewport screenshot records the visible screen, including surrounding product details. It is a useful default for visual review, but does not include content below the fold.
Full page
A full-page screenshot includes the scrollable page and may capture content beyond the initial view. Playwright supports full-page capture, output format, scale, clipping, and file-path options. Use it when below-the-fold information matters; otherwise, a large image can add storage and review cost without improving the evidence. Playwright can also return screenshot bytes instead of writing directly to a file, which is useful when the application stores images in object storage or attaches them to a database record. The capture itself does not extract structured price data.

Rendered pages may change between visits: prices, promotions, seller offers, and other page content can differ. If you compare screenshots visually, distinguish a genuine price change from unrelated differences such as rotating content. Playwright’s screenshot assertions can wait for two consecutive screenshots to match before comparing against an expected image; that feature belongs to the Playwright test runner and is not a general guarantee that a marketplace page is stable. For page structure, Playwright MCP documents accessibility snapshots as structured information for understanding and interacting with elements, while screenshots provide visual context. Check authorized data routes by marketplace
Flipkart
Flipkart documents product and offer APIs for registered Affiliate Program users and lists shopping comparison sites and apps as a possible use case. Registration, current program availability, and API terms apply; access is not automatic or unrestricted. Review the Flipkart Affiliate API documentation and Affiliate Program terms before building around those endpoints.
Amazon India
Amazon India’s Product Advertising API (PA-API) is conditional on having an open Associates account, complying with the Associates Operating Agreement, applying for PA-API, and complying with its license agreement. Its documentation describes offer resources that include current buying-price and savings information. Check the Amazon.in Product Advertising API and its Associates Operating Agreement for current eligibility and terms.
Amazon.in Associates Central’s undated help page, accessed October 3, 2026, states an initial PA-API rate limit of one request per second per account, with increases tied to attributed shipped revenue and a stated maximum of ten requests per second. Treat that as changeable account guidance, not a guaranteed allowance for every account; verify the current rate-limit guidance before designing polling frequency.

Myntra
The sources cited here do not establish a current official Myntra price API or a current policy authorizing automated access. That does not prove that no authorized route exists. Verify current Myntra terms and any approved data-access option before collecting data; do not assume that Amazon or Flipkart’s documented terms apply.

- Timeout or navigation failure: check the URL and network access, and allow a reasonable page-load timeout. A timeout does not establish that the product is unavailable; do not retry indefinitely.
- Locator not found: the selector may be stale, the target may not be rendered, or the page may have a different layout. Inspect the page structure and update the selector. Do not silently record an empty value as a valid price.
- Unexpected price text: the selector may target a crossed-out amount, installment, or another offer. Preserve the displayed text, inspect the surrounding offer context, and validate the parsed currency and amount before using it in comparisons.
- Element screenshot fails: the selected element may not be visible or may not exist. Verify the locator and capture the viewport as a fallback only when it still provides interpretable context.
- Page presents a bot check, CAPTCHA, or access denial: stop rather than attempting to bypass it. Use an authorized API or seek permission; a screenshot of a challenge is not a price observation.
- Screenshot differs between runs: determine whether the offer changed or other dynamic content moved. Compare the structured price and seller context, and use test-runner screenshot assertions only where a stable visual baseline is appropriate.
Performance, reliability, and cost considerations
Every browser launch and page visit consumes time and compute, so keep captures focused on the data you need and avoid unnecessary full-page images. Reuse a browser for a controlled batch of authorized visits where appropriate, close pages and browsers cleanly, and set finite timeouts. Record failed attempts distinctly from successful observations; missing data should not be interpreted as a price change.
For recurring monitoring, API eligibility and limits can determine the sustainable polling rate. Amazon’s documented account-dependent request allowance is especially relevant; Flipkart access is also conditional on affiliate registration and terms. Do not infer that a marketplace allows a particular frequency merely because Playwright can load its page. Store images with a retention policy, since screenshots can use substantially more storage than the corresponding text record.
