Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo test a website by geolocation, first identify which location signal it uses. For browser-requested coordinates, use Chrome DevTools Sensors. For country-specific behavior based on a visitor’s IP address, route the test through a proxy, VPN, or cloud testing service in the target region. These methods change different signals, so test both when you are not sure which one the site reads.
Choose the location signal your website uses
“Geolocation” may mean the coordinates a site requests through the browser’s Geolocation API, the apparent location associated with the visitor’s IP address, or a location the user selected in the site. A test only covers the signal it changes: browser coordinate emulation does not move network traffic to another country, and routing traffic through a different IP does not set the browser’s reported coordinates.
- Browser coordinates: Use this for location prompts, content that responds to the Geolocation API, and permission-denied or unavailable-location fallbacks.
- Source IP: Use a proxy, VPN, or cloud testing service with an exit point in the target country or region to check IP-based redirects, availability, or regional content.
- User-selected location: Set the location in the site itself and verify that the selected value drives the expected result. If the implementation is unclear, test the browser-coordinate and IP signals separately.
Plan a regional test
- List target regions and expected outcomes. For each region, note the intended language, currency, products or content, redirects, access restrictions, and consent or eligibility messages.
- Identify the signal or signals the site reads. Check the application’s code or configuration if available. Otherwise, test browser coordinates and source IP independently.
- Include a failure case. If the site requests browser coordinates, test both a location value and a denied or unavailable location state.
- Record the test conditions. Capture the region, changed signal, tool and plan, browser or device, expected result, actual result, and a screenshot or test log.
- Repeat for the regions the business serves. A successful result in one country does not establish that every market has the right content or access behavior.
Test browser geolocation with Chrome DevTools
Chrome DevTools Sensors can emulate preset cities, custom latitude and longitude, and an unavailable location. Use it to test behavior driven by the browser’s Geolocation API, including permission and fallback handling. The override changes the coordinates the browser reports; it does not change the network’s source IP. See Chrome DevTools Sensors documentation for the current interface details.
- Open the website in Chrome and open DevTools.
- Open the DevTools menu and choose More tools > Sensors.
- In the Sensors panel, use the Location control to choose a preset city, enter custom latitude and longitude, or select the unavailable location state.
- Reload the page or repeat the user action that requests location. If prompted, grant or deny location permission according to the case you are testing.
- Check the actual outcome: location-dependent content, prompt behavior, and the site’s response when location is unavailable or permission is denied.
Keep the browser permission state in mind: an emulated coordinate does not prove the site handles a denied permission, and a denied permission does not test a successful coordinate-based flow. Run each case separately.

- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Test IP-based location from another region
For behavior that depends on the apparent source IP, use a proxy, VPN, or cloud browser/testing service whose endpoint or session is in the target region. Confirm the selected location is active for the test session before interpreting the page. Coverage, setup, and access can vary by vendor and plan.
- Proxy or VPN: Route the test browser’s traffic through an endpoint in the desired country or region. A browser coordinate override can remain independent of this IP.
- Cloud browser or device testing: Use a service that supports regional test sessions when you need repeatable browser, device, or automated checks. Check that the relevant location feature is available on your product and plan.
- Quick URL inspection: Cloudflare Radar URL Scanner documents country-based scanning. Its Security Center location scanning is limited to Enterprise customers, and a scan is not a substitute for every interactive user workflow. See Cloudflare URL Scanner documentation.
Vendor documentation reports different coverage figures, which are not independently verified here. WonderProxy says it provides proxy and VPN servers in 280 cities across 103 countries; BrowserStack says its IP Geolocation feature provides addresses hosted in 60+ countries and 30+ states. BrowserStack also documents product and plan restrictions. Confirm current coverage and eligibility with each provider before choosing a test endpoint: WonderProxy and BrowserStack IP Geolocation documentation.

Check the outcomes that matter to visitors
Do not treat “the page loaded” as a complete regional test. Compare the expected and actual visitor experience for each target location:
- Language, locale, and date or time presentation.
- Currency, prices, and checkout availability.
- Products, services, or content shown or withheld by region.
- Redirects, blocked content, and access restrictions.
- Consent, eligibility, or other region-specific notices.
Katalon documents geographic-location support for desktop browser, mobile browser, and mobile native app testing, including checks for language, currency, time zone, and restricted content. Its page says it was last updated May 2026; available capabilities may depend on the product. See Katalon’s geographic-location documentation.

Compare the main testing methods
| Method | Signal changed | Useful for | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chrome DevTools Sensors | Browser-reported coordinates | Geolocation API behavior, prompts, and unavailable-location handling | Does not route network traffic through another country. |
| Location-specific proxy or VPN | Apparent network source IP | IP-based redirects, regional content, and access behavior | Coverage and setup vary; browser coordinates can remain independent of the IP. |
| Cloud browser or device testing | Test session’s source location, sometimes in a browser or device context | Repeatable regional checks and automation | Location access can depend on product and plan. |
| Cloudflare URL Scanner location scan | Scan vantage point | Quick inspection of location-dependent presentation | Security Center location scanning is Enterprise-only; scanning does not cover every interactive workflow. |
Troubleshoot unexpected results
The site still shows the original region
You may have changed the wrong signal. DevTools Sensors changes browser coordinates, not the source IP; a proxy or VPN changes the network route, not necessarily browser coordinates. Test the signal the site actually reads, or test both independently.
The browser does not show a location prompt
The site may not have requested the Geolocation API during that action, or the browser may already have a stored permission choice. Repeat the action that triggers the request and check the site’s permission state before concluding the location flow is broken.

The location-dependent content appears inconsistent
Confirm the intended region is active in the proxy, VPN, or cloud session. Then check whether the page is also using browser coordinates, a user-selected location, or another region-specific condition. Record each signal and result separately.
The regional test cannot select the location you need
Check the provider’s documented country or state coverage and whether the feature is included in your product and plan. Do not infer that a vendor supports a location merely because it supports regional testing generally.
