Use Chrome DevTools Device Mode to set a responsive viewport to 375 CSS pixels wide, choose and record a height and device pixel ratio (DPR), then inspect the page at 375px and at widths around the app’s actual CSS breakpoints. Capture either the visible viewport or the full page, and label which you captured. Treat 375px as a useful Chrome preset—not as a proven standard for Indian phones or web apps.
Set a reproducible 375px viewport in Chrome
- Open the web app in Chrome, then open DevTools and turn on Device Mode.
- Choose Responsive and enter a width of 375 CSS pixels. Enter a height too; the same width with a different height may show different content or affect fixed elements.
- Record the viewport dimensions and DPR shown for the emulated device. CSS pixels determine the layout viewport; DPR affects how those logical pixels map to raster image pixels. A 375-CSS-pixel-wide viewport does not necessarily produce a screenshot 375 physical pixels wide.
- Inspect the initial layout, then use DevTools’ media-query display to identify the app’s breakpoints. Test widths on either side of relevant transitions as well as 375px.
- Capture the visible viewport for an initial-screen review, or use full-size capture when the review needs below-the-fold content. Note the capture scope so reviewers are comparing like with like.
Chrome documents 375px as a responsive width preset and allows direct dimension entry. It does not establish 375px as a required or representative width for Indian apps. Chrome DevTools Device Mode documentation describes emulation as a “first-order approximation” of mobile appearance and performance.
Test the layout around its breakpoints
A screenshot at exactly 375px can catch narrow-screen problems, but a single width cannot show whether a layout changes cleanly. Use the app’s own media-query rules to choose neighboring widths. For each relevant breakpoint, inspect one width just below it and one just above it, then check 375px if it is a target review width.
- Look for horizontal overflow, clipped text, overlapping controls, and images or tables that exceed the viewport.
- Check that navigation, columns, and other responsive components change at the intended breakpoint.
- Keep viewport height and DPR consistent when comparing raster screenshots; otherwise differences may reflect capture settings rather than a code change.
Choose India-specific browser settings for the test case
There is no single locale, timezone, or location that is correct for every Indian web app. Choose settings according to the behavior being tested—for example, an Indian-language experience, regional content, or a location-dependent feature—and record the selected values. If the app depends on geolocation, document the test location and permission state. These settings are deliberate test inputs, not a universal India preset.

Automate repeatable captures with Playwright
For regression checks, configure a fixed viewport and capture the same route under the same relevant browser conditions. Playwright supports viewport and device emulation as well as locale, timezone, and geolocation settings. This example uses a responsive browser context at 375 by 812 CSS pixels and captures the full page; replace the URL and settings with those appropriate to your app and test scenario.

await browser.close();Use a device profile or geolocation only if the test calls for it; do not silently mix those settings into a baseline. Playwright’s documentation covers device and browser emulation and visual screenshot comparisons. For screenshot assertions, keep the route, viewport, DPR, browser configuration, and relevant app state stable between runs.

Know when emulation is not enough
Device Mode is useful for a fast first pass, but it does not run the app on an actual phone. Validate important interactions or device-specific rendering on real hardware when fidelity matters. Chrome’s guidance explicitly frames Device Mode as an approximation rather than a substitute for a mobile device.
