For most players, the key decision is whether Ultimate’s digital extras are worth $20 more than Standard—not whether to buy the separate Vice City Collection. Take-Two announced U.S. prices of $79.99 for Standard and $99.99 for Ultimate. The physical Standard package is a download code in a box, not a disc, and the Vice City Collection is reported to be a separate merchandise set that does not include the game.
First, separate the game editions from the collector set
There are two different decisions here: which version of Grand Theft Auto VI to buy, and whether to buy a physical collectible set. Rockstar lists Standard and digital Ultimate editions of the game. The Vice City Collection is presented separately as a limited-edition collectible set, not as a game edition. Rockstar describes it as inspired by Leonida’s fictional TV show, Macca the Gator, on its GTA VI homepage.
GamesRadar reports the collection at $399.99 in the U.S. or £349.99 in the UK, and says the game is not included. Those are secondary-reported details; check a current official listing for the final item list, price, availability, and whether the game is included before ordering. If the reported price applies, add the game’s cost separately when judging the total.

| Option | What you get | Best fit | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard digital | The game and any applicable time-limited offer | Players who mainly want to play GTA VI | Digital purchase is tied to the platform account and storefront |
| Standard code-in-box | A physical package containing a game download code | Gift-giving or buyers who value boxed packaging | No disc; account-region compatibility matters |
| Ultimate digital | The game plus listed digital in-game extras | Players who specifically want those extras | The announced U.S. premium is $20; check local pricing and current contents |
| Ultimate Edition Upgrade | Ultimate extras added after buying Standard | Anyone who wants to postpone deciding about the extras | Compare the live upgrade price and availability with buying Ultimate upfront |
| Vice City Collection | A separately sold physical collectible set, according to current reporting | Collectors who want the specific objects | GamesRadar reports that the game is not included; verify the current official listing |
Is Ultimate worth paying extra for?
Take-Two announced U.S. prices of $79.99 for Standard and $99.99 for Ultimate. That $20 difference pays for digital bonuses, not the Vice City Collection. Regional prices can differ. Rockstar describes Ultimate’s extras as items connected to Jason and Lucia’s story; its edition and version support page lists items such as vehicles, weapons, apparel, customization venues, and the Classic Car Collection.

- Grand Theft Auto III: It all starts in Liberty City
- Grand Theft Auto: Vice City: Welcome to the 1980s
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas: Five years ago, Carl 'CJ' Johnson escaped the haze of Los Santos, San Andreas...a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs, and corruption.
- Choose Standard if you want the game and do not already know that you value the listed digital extras.
- Choose Ultimate if you have checked the current contents and would rather pay the announced premium now than decide later.
- Defer the choice if uncertain: Rockstar says Standard buyers can buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade through the PlayStation or Microsoft storefront after redeeming the code. Check the current local upgrade price before relying on this route.
The physical Standard edition does not provide disc ownership: Rockstar says its box contains a download code. That means it is not a disc to lend or resell, and it depends on the platform’s account and activation rules. Rockstar recommends buying in the country where the platform account is registered. Its support page says PlayStation codes follow region rules, while Xbox codes are not region-locked.
When does the Vice City Collection make sense?
Judge the set by the objects themselves, not by the word “collector’s.” GamesRadar’s accessible reporting gives the reported $399.99 / £349.99 price and describes physical collectibles, but the current official product details should be checked before purchase. Rockstar’s homepage labels the offer “while supplies last”; availability may change.

- Would you want the reported items if they were not branded with GTA VI?
- Does the current official listing confirm the contents and whether the game is included?
- After adding the game separately if needed, is the total within your budget?
- Are you buying for personal enjoyment rather than an assumed resale profit? No reliable resale-value forecast is established.
If the game is your priority, buy the game edition that fits your interest in the digital extras and treat the merchandise as an independent purchase. Do not assume a listing called a collector’s box or bundle includes the game unless its current terms say so.

- Want only the game? Start with Standard.
- Want the listed digital bonuses? Compare Ultimate’s current local price with Standard and the later upgrade price.
- Need a physical-looking gift? The code-in-box version provides packaging, but it contains no disc.
- Want display collectibles? Assess the Vice City Collection as merchandise, verify its official contents and game inclusion, then add the game price if it is separate.
