Sometimes—but there is no reliable, universal figure for how much delay a PS5 controller adapter adds. The result depends on the adapter, controller, firmware, connection mode and game. Manufacturer descriptions such as “low latency” are not a substitute for a controlled comparison of the exact setup.
What “PS5 adapter” means here
This guide covers controller-conversion adapters: devices used to connect a controller or arcade stick to a PS5 when it is not supported directly. Bluetooth audio adapters, HDMI adapters and other accessories have different latency considerations.
There is no universal adapter-latency number established by the official platform and manufacturer materials cited here. Those sources document compatibility and, in one case, a firmware change described as improving input lag; they do not provide a controlled, comparative measurement for PS5 setups.
What can affect input lag
- Adapter and controller compatibility: Support is specific to the exact models. Brook says its compatibility list identifies controllers tested for its adapter; an unlisted controller may be incompatible or simply untested. Brook’s Wingman FGC 2 page and Brook’s FAQ explain its compatibility guidance.
- Firmware: Mayflash’s MAGIC-S PRO 2 firmware history includes a note to “Optimise the input lag on PC/PS4/PS5.” That is a vendor description of an update, not a measured before-and-after result or a guarantee of a particular improvement. See the MAGIC-S PRO 2 product page.
- Connection mode and setup: A wired controller, wireless controller, adapter, game and console settings form one chain. Changing more than one variable makes it difficult to identify what caused a perceived difference.
- Game and display response: What feels like controller delay may also involve the game’s response or the display. The cited adapter materials do not quantify those parts of the chain.
What the available product claims do—and do not—show
Brook lists Wingman FGC 2 for PS5 and PC and specifies wired controllers. Its “ultra-low latency” wording is a manufacturer claim; the cited materials do not provide comparative test results. Mayflash documents a firmware change related to input lag, but gives no measured latency value. Neither source supports a claim that all adapters cause noticeable delay, or that any particular adapter has zero delay.

When evaluating options, check the exact controller or stick, PS5 game support, wired or wireless requirements, firmware update process and relevant release notes. For a latency comparison, look for independent measurements made with comparable equipment and conditions; the cited sources do not supply that comparison.
How to check whether your adapter is causing delay
- Identify the hardware. Note the adapter model and version, controller model and connection mode. “PS5 adapter” by itself is too vague to verify compatibility.
- Check the manufacturer’s compatibility information. Confirm the exact controller or stick and the intended PS5 use case. Brook says its listed models have been tested; an unlisted model is not necessarily incompatible, but support is not established by that list.
- Review firmware notes and instructions. Check the adapter maker’s current release history and update procedure. A note about input lag indicates the vendor addressed it, but does not establish the size of any change.
- Compare direct and adapter connections, if both are supported. Keep the game, controller, display, connection mode and settings as consistent as possible. Change only the connection path between comparisons.
- Separate controller delay from other response time. If the same setup feels different across games or displays, that alone does not isolate the adapter. A reported millisecond result is meaningful only with its measurement method, setup and uncertainty stated.
When a controller adapter makes sense
An adapter is worth considering when you have a specific compatibility need, such as using a supported wired controller or stick that does not connect to the PS5 as you need it to. Brook’s Wingman FGC 2 is one documented option for listed wired controllers; Mayflash’s MAGIC-S PRO 2 is another adapter with published compatibility and firmware information. Check each manufacturer’s current documentation before buying, because the exact controller and game matter.

A keyboard or mouse can connect to PS5 over USB or Bluetooth at the system level, but support is not universal: Sony says not all devices work, and game developers determine whether their games support keyboard and mouse.
