For a screenshot of what is currently visible, use Selenium’s WebDriver screenshot method after Chrome has loaded the Hindi page and its fonts. A standard WebDriver screenshot captures the browser window, not the entire document. For a full-page image, use Chrome’s DevTools Protocol (CDP) where supported or scroll and stitch viewport captures. In either case, wait for the page’s own dynamic content and web fonts, then check the saved image for missing Devanagari glyphs and layout problems.
Capture the visible page with Selenium
This Python example saves the current Chrome window as a PNG. Install Selenium and make a compatible Chrome browser available in the runtime; current Selenium can manage driver setup, but exact behavior depends on the installed Selenium and Chrome versions and environment.
from pathlib import Path
from selenium import webdriver
from selenium.webdriver.chrome.options import Options
options = Options()
options.add_argument("--headless") # Remove this line to use a visible browser.
options.add_argument("--window-size=1440,1200")
driver = webdriver.Chrome(options=options)
try:
driver.get("https://example.com/hindi-page")
# Add a page-specific wait here if the page loads content asynchronously.
Path("screenshots").mkdir(exist_ok=True)
driver.save_screenshot("screenshots/hindi-page.png")
finally:
driver.quit()
Replace the example URL with the Hindi page you need. Setting the window size before navigation and capture makes the viewport—and therefore responsive layout and line wrapping—more predictable. Selenium’s Python Chromium WebDriver API documents save_screenshot(filename) as saving the current window to PNG and returning false on an I/O error. The same API documents get_screenshot_as_file, which also expects a .png path. These are window screenshots, not automatic full-document captures.

If only a particular block is needed, Selenium also supports taking a screenshot of a web element. Locate the target element, then use its screenshot method, for example element.screenshot("target.png"). This avoids capturing unrelated parts of the viewport; the element must exist and be visible when captured. See Selenium’s window and element screenshot documentation.

Wait for Hindi text and page content to render
Navigation completing does not guarantee that a modern page is ready for a faithful screenshot. JavaScript may update the page after load, lazy-loaded sections may appear only after scrolling, and Hindi text may use a web font that has not arrived yet. Prefer waits tied to the page’s actual readiness conditions over an arbitrary short sleep.
Wait for web fonts when the page is under your control
Google’s font technical notes explain that Chrome can render other page content while leaving space blank for text that depends on a web font until that font loads. In page-controlled capture code, document.fonts.ready can be one useful signal:
driver.execute_async_script("""
const done = arguments[arguments.length - 1];
document.fonts.ready.then(() => done());
""")
This only indicates that font loading has settled; it does not guarantee application hydration, image loading, lazy content, or any page-specific state is complete. Add an explicit Selenium wait for the target text or element that matters to your capture.

Check font fallback and glyphs
The page’s CSS and the fonts available to Chrome determine how Devanagari characters appear. For a page you control, use a sensible generic fallback such as serif or sans-serif; Google Fonts advises listing a web-safe fallback to avoid unexpected behavior. Its documentation also covers requesting script subsets and UTF-8 text. A fallback may look different from the intended web font, so inspect the actual PNG for missing glyphs, blank text, malformed conjuncts or matras, and unexpected line wrapping.

Choose a full-page capture method
Use WebDriver’s normal screenshot method when the desired output is the visible browser window. For the whole document, choose between CDP capture and scroll-and-stitch based on your deployed Chrome version, page behavior, and tolerance for layout artifacts.

| Method | Best fit | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| WebDriver window screenshot | A predictable viewport image or test screenshot | Captures the current window, not automatically the entire document. |
| Chrome DevTools Protocol | A full-document capture where the deployed Chrome supports the needed parameters | Page.captureScreenshot includes captureBeyondViewport; related protocol capabilities are marked experimental, so verify support in your Chrome version. |
| Scroll and stitch | A fallback when CDP is unsuitable | Requires handling sticky headers, lazy loading, and scripts that react to scrolling; seams or duplicated elements can result. |
Use CDP when its version support fits
Chrome DevTools Protocol provides Page.captureScreenshot with image format options and a beyond-viewport parameter. Page.getLayoutMetrics can provide page dimensions useful for planning the capture. Confirm the exact protocol support for the Chrome version you deploy: the protocol reference marks some related capabilities experimental. Selenium’s available CDP integration and command exposure can vary by version, so verify it against your chosen Selenium and Chrome builds rather than assuming a command works everywhere. See the Chrome DevTools Protocol Page reference.
Scroll and stitch only when needed
A scroll-and-stitch workflow captures successive viewports and combines them into one image. It can work when beyond-viewport CDP capture is unavailable, but scrolling may trigger lazy loading or page scripts, and sticky headers may appear in every slice. Allow content to settle at each position, account for overlays and fixed elements, and inspect the assembled result for repeated or missing text. Chrome’s headless Chrome guidance illustrates explicit viewport sizing and notes that full-page screenshots require additional handling.
Review the image and troubleshoot failures
- Hindi characters are blank or missing: the web font may not have loaded, or the runtime may not have a suitable fallback. Wait for
document.fonts.readywhere applicable, then check the page’s specific readiness condition and the saved PNG. - Text appears in a different style or wraps differently: the intended font may be unavailable or the viewport differs from the page’s expected dimensions. Set the window size before capture and check the page’s font CSS and fallback behavior.
- The screenshot cuts off lower content: the regular WebDriver method captures the current window. Use CDP beyond-viewport capture if supported by the deployed Chrome, or use a scroll-and-stitch approach.
- Some sections are absent: the page may populate them asynchronously or lazy-load them on scroll. Wait for the relevant target and trigger the page behavior needed to load those sections before capture.
- The output file is missing or the screenshot call fails: confirm that the destination directory exists and the process can write there. Selenium’s screenshot API returns false on an I/O error; use an accessible path ending in
.png. - CDP rejects a parameter or command: check the protocol support for the exact Chrome version and the Selenium integration you are using. The beyond-viewport capability has experimental caveats; use a supported alternative if it is unavailable.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. A single GET request can return an image or PDF; the API accepts parameters used by other screenshot APIs, which can make switching straightforward. Its clean-shot steps can accept cookie or consent banners and remove known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses include X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. AI agents can use its MCP server tools: take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf.
Example cURL request (replace the URL with the Hindi page):
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com/hindi-page -o shot.webp

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Selenium save a screenshot as PNG?
Yes. Selenium’s Python Chromium WebDriver screenshot methods save the current window as PNG; use a filename ending in .png.
Will waiting for document.fonts.ready also load lazy images?
No. It is a font-readiness signal only. Wait for the page’s relevant content separately and trigger lazy loading if the capture requires it.
