To take a picture with a Logitech webcam, connect it, open your computer’s camera app, select the Logitech camera if needed, switch to photo mode, and capture the image. On Windows, use the Camera app; on a Mac, use Photo Booth.
Take a picture with a Logitech webcam in Windows
- Connect the webcam to your computer and turn it on.
- Open Start, type Camera, and open the Windows Camera app.
- If your computer has more than one camera, select the Camera app’s Change camera control until the Logitech webcam is active.
- Select Photo mode, then select Take photo.
- Select the thumbnail near the lower-right area to review the picture. To find the saved file, open the app’s ellipsis menu and select Open Folder.
Microsoft says the Camera app can take photos using either a built-in camera or a connected webcam. The app’s layout can vary by Windows version, so the controls may not appear in exactly the same place on every computer. Microsoft’s Camera app instructions explain its photo workflow; Logitech also names the Microsoft Camera app as an example for C922 capture. Logitech’s C922 instructions apply to that model, not necessarily every Logitech webcam.
Take a picture with a Logitech webcam on a Mac
- Connect the webcam to your Mac and turn it on.
- Open Photo Booth. If the app is showing a photo review, return to its standard camera view.
- Choose the single-picture option in the lower-left area. Choose the four-picture option only if you want a sequence of four images.
- Select Take Photo. The captured picture appears in Photo Booth.
Apple documents Photo Booth support for an external video camera connected to a Mac. Apple’s Photo Booth instructions cover taking a photo or recording video. Logitech lists QuickTime Player as an example for C922 capture on Mac, but Photo Booth is the straightforward still-photo method described here; capture instructions for that one webcam should not be treated as a requirement for all Logitech models. If the Logitech webcam does not appear
- Check that the webcam is connected and powered on. Many modern Logitech webcams connect over USB and are recognized by the operating system, although connection and compatibility details can vary by model.
- If your computer has multiple cameras, use the app’s camera-switching control to select the Logitech webcam.
- Check that Windows or macOS has granted the camera app permission to access the camera. The permission screen and steps depend on your operating-system version.

Do you need Logitech software to take a photo?
For the workflows above, use the camera app built into Windows or macOS. Logitech’s C922 support page describes using third-party capture software, including the Windows Camera app and QuickTime Player on Mac; that model-specific guidance does not establish a universal software requirement. Logitech Capture is presented as video recording and streaming software, and Logitech’s listed requirements—Windows 10 and macOS 10.14, 10.15, and macOS 11 Big Sur on Intel—are dated, so it is not a default recommendation for current still-photo capture. Some older instructions also refer to earlier operating systems.
