Use your phone’s normal screenshot shortcut, then choose its scrolling option: Full Page on supported iPhones, Capture more on Android 12 and newer, or Scroll capture on many Samsung Galaxy models. The option only appears where the app, device and software support an extended capture.
What a full-page mobile screenshot does
A full-page (also called long or scrolling) screenshot joins content below the visible display into one image. It is useful for a long webpage, conversation, receipt or settings screen without taking several separate screenshots. It is different from a screen recording: the result is a still image, and the phone must be able to scroll through the content.
Support is not universal. Apple documents the feature with a Safari webpage example; Google limits its instructions to Android 12 and up on most scrollable screens; Samsung notes that availability varies by model, carrier, software version and app. Secure or privacy-protected screens may block screenshots.
iPhone: use Full Page
Apple’s current iPhone instructions place the extended option in the screenshot editor. The example is a complete Safari webpage, but Apple does not promise that every app supports Full Page. See Apple’s iPhone screenshot guide for the platform documentation.

- Open the webpage or document and position it where you want the capture to begin.
- On an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release the Side button and Volume Up together. On an iPhone with a Home button, quickly press and release Home and Side.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail that appears in the lower-left corner. If it disappears, open the screenshot from Photos and use the available editing controls.
- Tap Full Page at the top of the editor. A page-length preview appears when the current app supports it.
- Drag the preview or use the crop controls to inspect and trim the capture. This prevents unwanted footer, toolbar or blank space from being included.
- Use the save control shown by iOS to store the result. Screenshots with the thumbnail are saved automatically; a full-page capture may be saved as a PDF rather than a normal Photos image depending on the screen and save option offered.
If Full Page is missing on iPhone
- Try the same content in Safari if you were in another app; Apple’s documented example is a Safari webpage.
- Confirm that you tapped the thumbnail quickly enough to enter the editor.
- If the tab is not present, that app or screen may not expose a full-page capture. Use several ordinary screenshots, print or export the document, or ask the app for its own share/export function.
- Check that the page has finished loading before taking the screenshot. A partially loaded page can produce an incomplete capture.
Android 12 and newer: choose Capture more
Google’s Android Help says: “These steps work on devices running Android 12 and up on most screens that allow you to scroll.” The wording matters: Android 12 is the minimum in Google’s instructions, and “most” is not “all.” Button labels and placement can differ on a manufacturer’s Android skin. The official steps are in Google Android Help.
- Open the scrollable page or app screen.
- Press Power and Volume Down at the same time, then release. (If your manufacturer uses a different gesture, follow its support instructions.)
- Tap Capture more at the bottom of the screenshot preview.
- Move the crop handles or guidelines to include the amount of content you need. You can extend downward and trim the top or bottom.
- Tap Save (or the equivalent confirmation control) when the preview is correct.
Where Android saves the image
On phones using Google Photos, open Photos > Collections > On this device > Screenshots. On older Android installations without Photos, use Gallery > Album view > Screenshots. You can then share, edit or move the file like any other image.
If Capture more is not shown
- The phone may run Android 11 or earlier, where Google’s built-in control is not available.
- The screen may not be recognized as scrollable, even if it contains content that looks long.
- The app may disable screenshots for security or privacy.
- Your manufacturer may replace Google’s labels or gesture. Google directs users to the phone maker’s support site when the key combination differs.
Samsung Galaxy: use Scroll capture
Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets commonly place a Scroll capture button in the screenshot toolbar. Samsung says the exact behavior can vary by model, software version, carrier and screen; some apps block screenshots. Its instructions are at Samsung Support.

- Open the page you want to capture.
- Press Power/Side and Volume Down together to take a standard screenshot.
- Tap the Scroll capture icon, shown as two downward arrows, to extend the image.
- Keep tapping the icon until the required content is included, then stop and save.
Find the file in Gallery > Albums > Screenshots or in My Files > Images. Secure Folder, protected banking screens and other privacy-controlled views may disable the control.

Get a cleaner, more readable long capture
- Start at a stable position. Let images, expandable sections and ads finish loading before the first screenshot.
- Use portrait or landscape intentionally. Portrait fits more like a phone page; landscape can reduce the number of stitched sections in wide tables.
- Trim navigation and empty space. Adjust the editor’s crop handles before saving.
- Check lazy-loaded content. Scroll through the page once first when images appear only as you approach them; otherwise the capture may contain blank placeholders.
- Keep sensitive data out. Notifications, account numbers and private messages can appear in a long capture. Crop or redact before sharing.
- Prefer export for documents. A PDF or in-app export preserves selectable text and pagination better than a tall bitmap.
- Watch file size. A very long, high-resolution image can be difficult to message or upload. Crop to the relevant section or reduce it after saving.
Troubleshooting by symptom
The extended button never appears
Confirm that the screen can actually scroll, that you used the standard hardware shortcut, and that the operating system supports the feature (Android 12 or newer for Google’s Capture more workflow). Try the same content in another app such as Safari. If it still does not appear, the app or device likely does not expose scrolling capture; take multiple screenshots or use an export function.
The capture stops halfway
Some apps impose a maximum length or stop at a protected component. Capture in smaller sections, collapse long menus, or export the content from the app instead.

Images or text are missing
Wait for network content and lazy-loaded images, then retry. A page that changes while it is being stitched can also produce gaps; pause scrolling and close animated overlays.
The screenshot is blocked or black
Banking, streaming, Secure Folder and other protected screens can prohibit screenshots. This is an app or system security rule, not a button failure. Use the service’s authorized download, print or share option.

Use the platform’s screenshot folder listed above and search by the time you captured it. On iPhone, check Photos and the screenshot editor’s save destination; on Android and Galaxy, check the Screenshots album rather than the camera folder.
