Safari on Mac does not have a built-in scrolling screenshot command documented by Apple. Mac’s screenshot tools capture the screen, a window or a selected area—not a full webpage stitched into one image. If you need to preserve the whole webpage, Safari can save it as a Web Archive; if you specifically need an image, use a screenshot API such as ScreenshotNeo.
What Mac’s built-in screenshot shortcuts can capture
Apple’s Mac screenshot instructions document captures of the display, a window or a selected portion of the screen. They do not document a scrolling-page capture option.
- Entire screen: Press and release Shift–Command–3.
- Selected area: Press and release Shift–Command–4, drag to select the visible area you want, then release.
- Screenshot controls: Press Shift–Command–5 to open the Screenshot app on macOS Mojave 10.14 or later. It provides capture and save controls, including a timer and save-location options. It does not stitch a long webpage into a scrolling screenshot.
These shortcuts are useful when the part you need is visible on screen. They produce a screenshot of the display, not a saved copy of the whole webpage.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsSave the whole webpage in Safari as a Web Archive
If your goal is to keep the page for later rather than create a single image, Safari’s built-in Web Archive option is the closest native full-page alternative. Apple’s Safari guide says a Web Archive saves page graphics and keeps links working while the destination webpages remain available.

- In Safari, open the webpage you want to save.
- Choose File > Save As.
- Choose Web Archive as the format, then save the file.
A Web Archive is a webpage file, not a scrolling screenshot image. Apple also notes that some webpages may prevent items displayed on the page from being saved, so the archive may not preserve every element.
When Page Source is the right choice
Choose Page Source in the same Save As workflow if you need the HTML source code. It is not a visual capture and will not look like a screenshot of the rendered page.

Why the iPhone “Full Page” option does not apply
Apple documents a Full Page screenshot workflow for iPhone, where the screenshot can be saved as an image or PDF. That is an iPhone feature, not a Mac Safari instruction. See Apple’s iPhone screenshot guide for that device-specific workflow.
Or skip the browser setup
If you specifically need a webpage image without manually capturing visible sections, ScreenshotNeo takes a screenshot with one GET request. Its API supports PNG, JPEG or WebP output, as well as PDF; see the ScreenshotNeo documentation for parameters.
