To capture a whole webpage—not just the part currently visible—use your browser’s full-page screenshot feature if available. Firefox documents a full-page option in Developer Tools, and Microsoft Edge’s Screenshot feature can capture a full page or a selected area. In Chrome, a full-page extension such as GoFullPage is one option. Review the result before sharing: dynamic content and pages with their own scroll areas may not appear as expected.

Choose a full-page capture method

A full-page screenshot includes content beyond the browser viewport. That differs from a standard screen capture, which records only what is currently on screen. Start with a built-in browser workflow where one is documented; use an extension if that better fits your browser or task.

Browser or option What the documented workflow offers What to keep in mind
Firefox Developer Tools can capture an entire page or a single element. The documentation describes a full-page command option; no add-on is needed for this documented route.
Microsoft Edge Screenshot can capture a full page or selected area and lets you mark up the result before saving or copying it. Confirm the current interface labels in your installed Edge version.
Chrome with GoFullPage The Chrome Web Store listing describes full-page capture. It is an extension. Check its current permissions and listing before installing; the listing showed maintenance updates through September 24, 2026, which does not independently establish capture quality or privacy.
OpenCapture The vendor describes an extension for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox with processing in the browser. Local processing is the vendor’s claim, not an independently audited privacy guarantee. Review permissions before installation.

Capture a full page in Firefox

Mozilla’s Firefox Developer Tools documentation is the clearest documented no-add-on route among these options. Open the page you want, then use the full-page screenshot option in Developer Tools. Mozilla also documents screenshots of a single element if you need only one section.

Use Firefox’s current Developer Tools interface and documentation for the exact command and controls, as browser interfaces can change. After capture, inspect the image for content that loads dynamically or sits inside a separate scrollable region.

Capture a full page in Microsoft Edge

Microsoft describes Edge’s Screenshot feature as supporting a full page or a selected area, with markup before you save or copy the result. Open Screenshot from the installed browser’s current interface, choose the full-page option, and review the capture before saving or copying it. The available documentation supports these capabilities but does not establish that every page will capture perfectly.

Capture a full page in Chrome or across browsers

Chrome: GoFullPage

For Chrome, GoFullPage is a dedicated extension whose Chrome Web Store listing describes full-page capture. Before installing, check the current listing, permissions, and any privacy information so you understand what access the extension requests. A recent maintenance date is not a guarantee of quality, compatibility, or privacy.

Chrome, Edge, or Firefox: OpenCapture

OpenCapture describes availability for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox and says its image processing happens locally in the browser. Treat that as the vendor’s description rather than an independent privacy audit. Check the extension’s current permissions and privacy details before use.

Check the screenshot before sharing it

Full-page capture is useful, but the result depends on how the page behaves. Dynamic content, inner scroll areas, and other page-specific features can affect what appears. The cited browser and extension descriptions do not promise perfect capture on every site, and no comparative capture testing is established here.

  • Scroll through the resulting image to check the beginning, middle, and bottom of the page.
  • Look for missing or partially loaded content, especially elements that appear only after scrolling or waiting.
  • Check whether a page section has its own scrollbar; it may need separate handling from the main page.
  • Before sharing, confirm that the image does not expose information you intended to keep private.

Or skip the browser setup:

ScreenshotNeo takes a screenshot or PDF with one GET request. Its capture workflow accepts cookie and consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each of those steps can be turned off. Only clean shots are billed: bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, with the result identified in response headers. It also offers an MCP server with screenshot, page-info, and PDF tools for AI agents.

Install Python’s requests package if needed, then run this example. It saves the response as shot.webp; use a URL-encoded target URL in the query parameters.

import requests

r = requests.get(
    "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
    params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://example.com"},
    timeout=90,
)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for setup and request options. ScreenshotNeo offers 1,000 screenshots per month free with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for a free account.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I capture just one element instead of the whole webpage?

Yes. Firefox’s Developer Tools documentation includes screenshots of a single element; use that when you need one page component rather than the full document.

Does a full-page screenshot always include content inside a page’s own scrollbar?

Not necessarily. Inner scroll areas and other page-specific behavior can affect the capture, so inspect the result and capture the area separately if needed.
