On Android, “responsive screenshot” can mean either capturing more of a page than fits on screen or viewing the website in its desktop layout before taking a screenshot. These are separate choices: use Capture more or Chrome’s Long screenshot for a longer image, and request Desktop site to change the layout Chrome asks the site to show.
Take a standard screenshot on Android
- Open the website and position the content you want to capture on screen.
- Press Power + Volume Down at the same time.
- Use the screenshot preview or open Photos/Gallery to view, edit, share, or save the image.
If the button shortcut does not work, Android Help suggests holding the Power button briefly and tapping Screenshot. Controls may differ by device manufacturer. See Android Help’s screenshot instructions.
Capture a scrolling screenshot
A scrolling screenshot extends beyond the currently visible screen. Android and Chrome offer two routes; neither is guaranteed on every device, page, or browser version.
Use Android’s Capture more control
- On Android 12 or later, open a scrollable screen and press Power + Volume Down.
- Tap Capture more at the bottom of the screenshot.
- Adjust the crop guides to include the page content you want, then save or share the result.
Android Help describes this feature as available on Android 12 and later for most screens that allow scrolling, not every website or app. If Capture more does not appear, try Chrome’s route below if available. Android Help

Use Chrome’s Long screenshot
- Open the page in Chrome.
- Tap More > Share… > Long screenshot.
- Drag the crop handles to extend the capture, then tap Confirm.
- Share the resulting image with another app or save it to the device.

Which long-capture option should you use?

Request the desktop version of a website
If “responsive” means that you want the desktop layout rather than the mobile layout, change Chrome’s site-view request before taking the screenshot. This affects the layout the site is asked to serve; it does not make the screenshot longer.
Change the view for the current site
- In Chrome, open the website and tap More > Desktop site.
- If the page does not change, confirm Desktop site is selected and refresh the page.
- Take a standard or scrolling screenshot using the method that suits the amount of content.
Some websites can override general preferences, so a desktop-site request does not guarantee a desktop layout. For broader control, Chrome’s settings include Settings > Site settings > Desktop site, with Default view, Mobile site, and Desktop site choices plus site exceptions. Chrome’s current help also says that devices with less than 8 GB RAM default to mobile sites for automatic selection; manually requesting Desktop site is the relevant action when you want to change the view. Page Zoom is not responsive-layout testing
Chrome Page Zoom changes how large or small page content appears; it is not documented as a way to emulate a different responsive breakpoint or device viewport.
- For a specific site, tap More > Zoom.
- To expose a general zoom control, go to Settings > Accessibility > Show Zoom.
Use Desktop site when you want Chrome to request that layout. If you need to inspect a design at precise viewport widths or verify exact breakpoints, these Android user-facing controls do not provide a documented viewport-width emulation workflow. Chrome Help: use Page Zoom

Troubleshoot screenshot problems
- Power + Volume Down does nothing: Press both buttons at the same time. If that fails, briefly hold Power and tap Screenshot; manufacturer controls can vary.
- Capture more is missing: Android’s guidance applies to Android 12 and later and most scrollable screens, not all screens. Try Chrome’s Long screenshot route if your version offers it.
- Long screenshot is missing in Chrome: Chrome documents the menu route but does not guarantee it for every version or page. Use the system Capture more option when available.
- The page still looks mobile after selecting Desktop site: Check that the option is selected, refresh, and account for sites that override the preference.
- The screenshot is the wrong size or layout: Decide whether you need more page length, a desktop-site request, or simply a different zoom level. These controls solve different problems.
