To capture an iframe’s visible box, select the <iframe> in the parent page and call its Puppeteer ElementHandle.screenshot() method. To capture content inside the frame instead, get its Frame, find an element there, and screenshot that element.
Capture the iframe element’s visible box
The iframe element belongs to the parent page’s DOM. This example waits for the iframe, then saves a screenshot of its rendered rectangle:

The result is the iframe box, not a separate full-page capture of the framed document.

Capture an element inside the iframe
To screenshot framed-document content, first get the frame from the iframe element, then locate the desired element in that frame:

await innerElement.screenshot({ path: 'iframe-content.png' });contentFrame() provides the frame associated with the iframe handle. Frame.waitForSelector() waits for a matching element in that frame, including across navigations. Use a selector that matches the actual content and check the handle types for your installed Puppeteer version.

Handle timing and common errors
- Selector returns no handle: Check that the selector identifies the iframe or inner element and that the relevant page or frame has loaded. The examples throw explicit errors rather than trying to screenshot a missing handle.
- Detached element error: Puppeteer documents that element screenshots fail if the element has detached from the DOM. If a page update replaces the iframe or target, locate it again before taking the screenshot.
- Wrong content appears: Confirm whether the target is the parent-page iframe box or an element in the framed document. Use the parent page handle for the former and a frame-scoped selector for the latter.
- Unexpected rendering or timing: A selector being present does not necessarily mean the visual content is in its final state. Choose an appropriate wait for your page’s behavior before capturing.
The documented APIs provide the selection-and-capture path; behavior for cross-origin, sandboxed, lazy-loaded, or animated frames is not established here and may depend on the page and timing.
