Set acceptInsecureCerts: true in the options passed to puppeteer.launch(), then navigate to the HTTPS page and capture it with page.screenshot(). This lets that Puppeteer browser session continue past certificate errors; it does not repair the certificate or make it trusted by other clients.

Install Puppeteer in your project if it is not already installed, then run this CommonJS example. Replace the example URL with the HTTPS address of your page.

})();acceptInsecureCerts is documented on Puppeteer’s ConnectOptions; LaunchOptions extends those options, so it can be set at launch. Its default is false. The screenshots guide demonstrates navigating and saving a capture, and the Page.screenshot() API documents the capture method and its output forms.
What accepting the certificate error means
This setting tells the automated browser to ignore HTTPS certificate errors during navigation. It is a session-level workaround, not a certificate fix: it does not establish trust for browsers, applications, or clients outside this Puppeteer session. Keep it limited to the browser session and target environment that require it. For a development environment you control, configuring a locally trusted development certificate is a better long-term approach.

Use the current Puppeteer option name
Current Puppeteer uses acceptInsecureCerts. Puppeteer’s 23.0.0 changelog, dated August 7, 2024, records the breaking rename from ignoreHttpsErrors. If an older example fails or your editor flags the property, check your installed Puppeteer version and typings rather than assuming the older property is still valid: Puppeteer changelog.
Choose when the page is ready to capture
The example uses waitUntil: 'networkidle2', which is the wait condition shown in Puppeteer’s screenshot guide. Choose a readiness condition appropriate to the page if it keeps network activity open or renders important content later. The screenshot call is asynchronous: await it before closing the browser. fullPage: true asks for a full-page capture; omit or change it when you want a different screenshot configuration supported by your installed Puppeteer version.

Troubleshoot failed or unexpected captures
- Navigation still fails or shows a certificate interstitial: Check that
acceptInsecureCerts: trueis in the launch options for the browser instance that owns the page, and that the installed Puppeteer version recognizes this current option. - Your code uses
ignoreHttpsErrors: Replace it withacceptInsecureCertswhen using current Puppeteer; the changelog records the rename in version 23.0.0. - System-installed Chrome behaves differently: Check the Puppeteer and browser versions. Puppeteer says it works best with the Chrome for Testing browser it downloads by default and does not guarantee compatibility with other Chrome versions: PuppeteerNode.launch().
- The file is missing or incomplete: Verify that the destination is writable and that
page.screenshot()is awaited beforebrowser.close(). The screenshot method returns a promise.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this setting to make an invalid certificate trusted system-wide?
No. It only tells the Puppeteer browser session to ignore HTTPS certificate errors during navigation; it does not change certificate trust for other clients.
Does the example save a full-page screenshot?
Yes. It passes fullPage: true to page.screenshot(); omit that option if you do not want a full-page capture.
