Take a scrolling screenshot on a Xiaomi or Redmi phone
- Open the page or screen you want to capture. Scrolling capture works best on a vertically scrolling webpage, settings page, chat, document or similarly structured screen.
- Take a normal screenshot. Use any of Xiaomi’s built-in methods:
- Press Volume Down and Power together.
- Swipe down with three fingers.
- Open Control Center and tap Screenshot.
- When the screenshot preview appears, tap Scroll in the upper-right corner.
- Allow the phone to move down automatically, or scroll upward yourself to choose exactly where the capture ends. Watch the preview so you do not include unnecessary content.
- Tap DONE, then tap the check mark. Xiaomi saves the resulting long image to your screenshots in Gallery.
Xiaomi describes this feature as a way to save content “in one long screenshot.” It is not a separate camera mode: the normal screenshot preview is where the scrolling control appears.
Choose or change the screenshot shortcut
If a gesture or button combination is inconvenient, open Settings > Additional settings > Gesture shortcuts > Take a screenshot. From there, enable the shortcut options offered by your phone, such as the three-finger gesture or a button shortcut. You can then return to the target page, take a normal screenshot and choose Scroll from its preview.
Menu names can move slightly between MIUI and HyperOS releases. If you cannot find the path exactly, search Settings for Screenshot or Gesture shortcuts. The Control Center’s Screenshot tile is an alternative when shortcut settings are difficult to locate.

Why the Scroll option is missing or gray
A missing or disabled Scroll control does not necessarily mean your phone is malfunctioning. Xiaomi notes that some interfaces do not support long screenshots, so the option can appear gray. Compatibility depends on the phone model, system version and the app or page being captured.
The current app does not expose a scrollable screen
Long capture needs a screen that can move vertically in a way the system can recognize. A static image, some games, protected content, camera viewfinders and certain custom app screens may not provide a usable scrolling surface. Try the feature in a normal browser page or in Settings. If Scroll works there, the original app is the likely limitation.
The screenshot was started in the wrong way
Start with a standard screenshot and wait for its preview toolbar. The scrolling command is normally shown there; it is not a separate Control Center capture mode. If the preview disappears, take the screenshot again and tap Scroll promptly.

The phone or software build differs
Xiaomi and Redmi models do not all expose identical controls, and MIUI/HyperOS wording can vary. Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 14 Pro instructions use the same pattern—open Control Center, tap Screenshot, choose Scroll—while also allowing a configured gesture or button shortcut. Your build may omit the feature for a particular interface even when another Xiaomi model supports it.

The content is protected or app-controlled
Banking, streaming and other security-sensitive apps may block screenshots or limit what can be captured. If an image includes an app preview page or similar extra screen, Xiaomi attributes that behavior to the third-party app rather than the phone software. See Xiaomi’s explanation at its official support FAQ.
Set the endpoint cleanly
After tapping Scroll, Xiaomi may continue downward automatically. You can stop at the natural end of an article or move the capture boundary manually. Stop before duplicated navigation bars, sticky headers or a blank footer if the preview starts repeating them. For a long conversation or document, capture in sections when a single image becomes too tall to share or read.
- Articles and web pages: begin at the headline and stop after the final relevant paragraph.
- Chats: start where the context is clear and check that message bubbles are not duplicated at the joins.
- Settings pages: capture only the relevant group of options; a full settings tree can create an unwieldy image.
Find, view and save the long screenshot
After DONE and the check mark, open Gallery and look in the screenshots or the folder selected by your system. If the image cannot be viewed or saved, check that Gallery Editor has permission to access the folders it needs. Permission names differ by Android release, but you can usually review them at Settings > Apps > Manage apps > Gallery Editor > App permissions. Grant only the storage or photos-and-videos access that your phone presents as necessary, then repeat the capture.

A long screenshot is one tall image, so some messaging and social apps may resize it, compress it or reject it because of a maximum image dimension. In that case, save it locally, crop it into smaller sections, or send it as a document rather than an inline photo.

Practical limits and reliability tips
- Check before sharing: open the finished image at full size. Look for duplicated lines, missing images, clipped text and private information outside the intended region.
- Keep the page stable: wait for lazy-loaded content to finish and avoid rapidly changing feeds. Moving ads or live updates can produce inconsistent joins.
- Use shorter captures for very long pages: several readable images are often more useful than one extremely tall file, especially when a service imposes image-size limits.
- Update expectations: the common workflow is consistent across many Xiaomi devices, but Xiaomi does not publish a universal compatibility matrix for every model, app and MIUI/HyperOS release.
