Open the scrollable page, press the Side/Power and Volume Down buttons together, then tap Scroll capture (the icon with two downward arrows). Tap it again to extend the image, and finish when you reach the required point. Samsung saves the resulting long screenshot in Gallery.
Take a scrolling screenshot in four steps
- Open the content. Display the webpage, message, document or other screen you want to save. Scroll it manually first to confirm that more content is available below the current view.
- Capture the current screen. Press the Side/Power button and Volume Down button at the same time, then release them after a brief moment. The display flashes and a screenshot toolbar appears.
- Extend the image. Tap Scroll capture, shown as two downward arrows. The page moves down and the screenshot grows. Tap the icon again for another section. On supported configurations, Samsung says you can press and hold the icon to continue scrolling farther.
- Finish and save. Continue until the required content is included, then tap outside the toolbar where that interaction is offered. Samsung automatically resizes the captured image and saves it to Gallery.
The result is an image made by extending a normal screenshot; it is not a separate camera mode. The final length depends on how much content the page exposes and how far you continue the capture.
Before you start
- The screen must scroll. Samsung describes Scroll capture as available only when scrolling is possible. A static settings panel, a single photo or a short page may not show the control.
- Let the content load. For pages with images or expandable sections, wait until the material you need is visible before starting. A page that changes while the capture is advancing can produce an incomplete result.
- Expect model and software differences. Button placement, toolbar labels and available controls vary among Galaxy phones, tablets and software versions.
- Check screenshot permissions. Banking, streaming, work-profile and other protected apps can block screenshots for privacy or security reasons. No setting can force a capture when the app prevents it.
Where the Scroll capture button went
If a normal screenshot is taken but the toolbar does not appear, enable Samsung’s post-capture toolbar:
- Open Settings.
- Choose Advanced features.
- Tap Screenshots and screen recorder.
- Turn on Show toolbar after capturing.
Some Galaxy software uses Screen capture instead of Screenshots and screen recorder. If the labels do not match, search Settings for Screenshots or Screen capture. Samsung’s support material notes that menu names and controls depend on the device and software version.

If the toolbar is enabled but Scroll capture is still absent, test a normal webpage that clearly extends below the screen. If the icon appears there, the original app or screen probably does not expose scrollable content or blocks screenshots. If it is missing everywhere, consult the support instructions for your exact Galaxy model and software build.
Other ways to start the screenshot
The Side/Power-plus-Volume Down shortcut is the most broadly available method. Some Galaxy devices also offer palm-swipe capture or an S Pen command. These are optional ways to trigger the initial screenshot; they do not guarantee that a particular device will show Scroll capture.

How long and how sharp is the result?
Scroll capture does not promise a fixed maximum length or the full native resolution of every display. Samsung says the image is resized automatically, and the amount captured depends on the content. A page can end before you reach the desired visual length, or an app can stop advancing when it reaches a protected or non-scrollable section.
For a cleaner capture, begin near the top of the content, close transient overlays when possible, and advance in small increments. This lets you stop before unrelated material is added. If a page loads images lazily, wait for each section to appear before tapping the arrow again; otherwise the saved image may omit material that was not yet rendered.

Find, edit and share the long screenshot
Open Gallery and look in the folder where your screenshots are stored. Samsung’s toolbar can also expose editing and sharing actions immediately after capture, depending on the device and software version. Use the crop or markup tools when you need to remove an address bar, highlight a paragraph or conceal information before sending the image.
Because the result is one tall image, check its legibility at the recipient’s viewing size. For a very long page, sharing the original image as a file can be more practical than embedding it in a message that automatically scales it down.

Troubleshooting common failures

When a phone screenshot is not the right tool
