To capture an entire webpage, use Chrome DevTools’ Capture a full size screenshot, Firefox’s full-page screenshot feature, or Playwright’s fullPage option. These capture the page as the browser renders it, including visible SVG artwork; they do not promise to retain the SVG as editable vector data. Check the saved image at the size and zoom level where you plan to use it.
Choose the right capture method

A full-page capture includes content beyond the visible viewport; a regular screenshot captures only what is currently visible. If you need to reproduce actual mobile-device behavior, note that Chrome Device Mode simulates dimensions but not every aspect of a physical device. Google recommends testing on a real device when those differences matter (Device Mode guide).
Capture the full page in Chrome DevTools
- Open the website in Chrome, then open DevTools.
- Turn on Device Mode using the device toolbar button.
- Open the Device Mode More options menu.
- Select Capture a full size screenshot. Do not select Capture screenshot if you need the page beyond the viewport.
- Open the saved image and inspect the top, middle, and bottom of the page, including any SVG details that matter.
Device Mode lets you set viewport dimensions, but it is not a complete substitute for a physical device. For device-specific rendering or interaction issues, verify the page on the actual device (Google Chrome for Developers).
Capture a full page in Firefox
Firefox offers a full-page screenshot control in its developer tools. If the screenshot button is not visible, enable it in DevTools under Settings → Available Toolbox Buttons → Take a screenshot of the entire page, then use the button to capture the page (Mozilla Firefox Source Docs).

Alternatively, open the Web Console and run screenshot filename.png --fullpage, replacing filename.png with the desired filename. Mozilla documents this command as capturing the whole page rather than just the visible browser area (Firefox DevTools tips).
Automate full-page captures with Playwright
For a repeatable capture in a script, Playwright’s screenshot API accepts fullPage: true. This minimal example assumes Playwright is installed in the project and a browser is available through its setup:

What happens to SVG graphics?
The capture is an image of the browser-rendered page. The Chrome, Firefox, and Playwright documentation describes capturing page appearance; it does not say that a PNG or other screenshot retains the original SVG markup, paths, or editability. Treat the output as a raster image unless you have independently verified otherwise.

- For missing artwork: confirm the SVG loaded in the page before capturing. Compare a viewport capture with the full-page result and investigate the page’s resource loading and layout if an SVG is missing or clipped.
- For rendering differences: an SVG’s appearance can depend on how it is embedded, its CSS, loading behavior, and the browser. The cited documentation does not establish a complete SVG-specific troubleshooting matrix.
