Sign in to the website in your browser, open the page you’re authorized to view, and use the browser’s built-in full-page screenshot feature. In Firefox, choose Save full page. In Chrome, use DevTools’ Capture a full size screenshot. These tools capture the page rendered in your signed-in browser; they do not require a separate screenshot login or a password bypass.

Before you capture a page that requires login

Use the site’s normal sign-in flow and make sure your account is authorized to view the page. Then navigate to the page and wait until the content you need is visible. Capture only information you’re authorized to access and disclose.

The screenshot represents what the browser has rendered in your authenticated session. A capture does not necessarily include content that has not loaded yet, or content inside a separate scrolling panel. Inspect the result before relying on it.

Take a full-page screenshot in Firefox

  1. Open the protected page in Firefox and sign in through the website as usual.
  2. Open Firefox’s screenshot tool and select Save full page.
  3. Choose to download the image or copy it to the clipboard. Mozilla says downloaded screenshots go to the browser’s default download folder. See Mozilla’s Firefox screenshot instructions.

If the screenshot control is missing from Developer Tools, open Developer Tools Settings and enable Take a screenshot of the entire page under Available Toolbox Buttons. Firefox’s Web Console :screenshot helper also supports --fullpage, --delay, --filename, and --selector. Mozilla documents capturing either an entire page or a single element in its Firefox Developer Tools command reference.

Take a full-page screenshot in Chrome

  1. Open the page in Chrome and sign in normally.
  2. Open Chrome DevTools and turn on the device toolbar.
  3. In the device toolbar, open More options and select Capture a full size screenshot.

Google describes this option as capturing the whole page, including content outside the visible viewport. Follow Chrome’s device mode instructions if the controls look different. Menu labels can change; the sources cited here do not establish one universal keyboard shortcut for all Chrome versions and operating systems.

Which browser method should you use?

Browser Where full-page capture is found Documented output options
Firefox Screenshot tool: Save full page Download or copy the image
Chrome DevTools device toolbar: More options → Capture a full size screenshot Chrome documents full-page capture; the source cited here does not specify an equivalent copy-to-clipboard option

Both workflows use built-in browser tools; the documented procedures do not require an extension or paid service.

Check the screenshot before using it

  • Confirm that the page finished loading. Dynamic content may appear after the initial page load. Wait for the specific content you need, capture again, and inspect the image. Full-page capture documentation does not guarantee that every dynamic page will render perfectly.
  • Check independently scrolling areas. A full-page command may capture the document without capturing every item in a nested or internal scroll area. Compare the image with what you saw on screen; where permitted, use an element-level capture or another approved method for that content.
  • Look for private information. A logged-in page can show names, account details, messages, or other sensitive material. Redact anything unnecessary before sharing or saving the image somewhere others can access.

When screenshots are blocked

An organization can manage screenshot restrictions in Chrome. Google’s Chrome policy help says the restriction applies to screenshots made by any means, including keyboard shortcuts, apps, and extensions. A W3C TPAC 2024 presentation describes protected content appearing black in Edge when capture prevention is active.

If capture is blocked or protected content is hidden, use the site’s approved export feature or ask the organization’s administrator or support team how to obtain the information with authorization. Do not try to defeat the restriction.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server from ScreenshotNeo. A request to its API returns an image or PDF:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for setup and options. For a password-protected page, a request must have an authorized way to access that page; this API call does not bypass a login or access restriction.
