To capture a website’s full mobile layout on a computer, use Chrome DevTools: enable the device toolbar, set a phone-sized viewport, reload the page, then choose More options → Capture a full size screenshot. Check the resulting image for repeated sticky headers or content hidden beneath overlays; Chrome’s full-size capture includes content beyond the visible screen, but the documentation does not promise special handling for sticky elements.
Capture a full-page mobile screenshot in Chrome
- Open the page and DevTools. In Chrome on a computer, navigate to the website and open DevTools.
- Enable mobile emulation. Turn on the device toolbar and choose a phone preset or enter the mobile viewport dimensions you want. Chrome describes device mode as a set of mobile-device simulation features, not a guarantee of pixel-for-pixel equivalence with a physical phone. Chrome DevTools device mode documentation.
- Reload the page. Reload after selecting the mobile dimensions so the page can respond to the changed viewport. Responsive behavior varies by site.
- Capture the full page. In the device toolbar, open More options and select Capture a full size screenshot. Chrome says this captures the whole page, including content not currently visible in the viewport: “To capture a screenshot of the whole page including the content that isn’t currently visible in the viewport, select Capture a full size screenshot from the same menu.” Chrome for Developers.
- Inspect the image from top to bottom. Check for repeated or covering headers, cookie banners, chat bubbles, missing lazy-loaded images, and content that scrolls inside a panel instead of the page.
Why sticky headers can appear more than once
A full-page capture may be created by capturing and combining multiple viewport-sized sections. An element styled with position: fixed remains associated with the layout viewport as the page scrolls, so a stitched capture can show that header in multiple sections or over page content. Chrome DevTools documentation describes fixed-position behavior; the exact output depends on the capture method and page.
Chrome documents its full-size screenshot command, but does not promise that it will remove or suppress sticky headers. Treat the exported image as something to review, not as proof that every element has been captured cleanly.

- First check the capture mode. Make sure you used Capture a full size screenshot, not a screenshot of only the visible viewport.
- Look for other overlays. Cookie notices, chat widgets, and popups can obscure content independently of the header. If the page provides a way to dismiss them, do so before capturing and review the result.
- Try a scrolling-capture extension if needed. One extension publisher says its workflow captures a sticky header at the top and hides it during later scrolls. That is a vendor-reported claim, not an independently verified result; inspect the output carefully. GoFullPage.
- Check nested scrolling areas separately. Some web apps scroll a panel inside the page rather than the document itself. The extension publisher says its tool can locate and capture inner scrollers. Chrome’s full-size screenshot documentation does not promise this behavior, so verify that the panel’s content is present.
Know what the screenshot represents
- Emulated mobile layout: Device mode gives you a mobile-sized viewport on a computer. It is useful for capturing responsive layouts, but the cited documentation does not establish that it matches a real phone pixel for pixel.
- Full page, not just the screen: The full-size command includes page content outside the visible viewport. A normal viewport screenshot captures only what is currently on screen.
- Document scroll versus panel scroll: A page-level full-size capture may not include all content inside a separately scrolling panel.
- Physical-phone capture: The Chrome workflow is performed on a computer. Exact native screenshot steps and output formats vary by phone and operating-system version; consult current instructions for your device rather than assuming a button combination.

Troubleshooting
- The result shows only the visible screen: Repeat the capture and choose Capture a full size screenshot from the device toolbar’s More options menu.
- The page looks like desktop rather than mobile: Enable the device toolbar, choose the desired phone dimensions, and reload before capturing. A site’s responsive behavior determines how it uses those dimensions.
- The header appears repeatedly: The capture may retain a fixed or sticky element in multiple scroll positions. Review the full image; if it obstructs content, try a scrolling-capture extension that describes sticky-header handling and verify its output.
- Images or content are missing: Check whether images load only when scrolled into view or whether the content is inside a nested scrolling panel. The Chrome full-size command documentation does not establish how every lazy-loaded page or inner scroller will be handled.
- The screenshot differs from a phone: DevTools device mode is emulation on a computer. Test on the physical device if exact device rendering or behavior matters.

Does Chrome automatically remove sticky headers from a full-page screenshot?
Chrome’s documentation describes the full-size capture command but does not promise that it suppresses sticky or fixed headers. Inspect the image and consider a scrolling-capture extension if the header repeats.
