To stream recorded educational videos live on YouTube around the clock, send a prerecorded-video loop to a YouTube Live event using a computer encoder, dedicated hardware, or a cloud service. First confirm your channel is eligible and that you have rights to every video and audio track; then configure the stream in YouTube Studio, test it, and arrange monitoring. “24/7” describes the intended operation, not a guarantee that one event or stream will remain online indefinitely.

Choose how to keep the video playing

YouTube receives a live encoded feed; it does not turn an uploaded video into a continuous live broadcast by itself. The encoder or service sends the video and audio to YouTube. YouTube’s encoder guide lists OBS and Gyre among its options, but it does not prescribe one universal way to loop prerecorded material. Choose a method that explicitly supports looping and that you can monitor.

Method How it works What to consider
Cloud service — StreamNeo Upload recordings or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and start the stream; the service loops the uploaded videos from the cloud. It is designed for continuous prerecorded YouTube streaming, so your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. Details and current terms are at StreamNeo.
Local software encoder A computer runs software such as OBS and sends its output to YouTube. YouTube describes OBS as free, open-source software. The computer, power, and network connection must remain available, and the sources do not establish a turnkey looping recipe or an uptime comparison.
Dedicated hardware encoder A standalone device encodes and sends the feed. It may suit an existing production setup, but YouTube does not identify a specific model as necessary for prerecorded educational streams. Hardware still needs an operating and monitoring plan.

YouTube says expensive equipment is not required to get started. Its encoder list includes Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming; that listing is not an endorsement or an uptime guarantee. Compare current features, limits, and terms directly with any provider.

Check eligibility and prepare your material

Confirm the channel can go live

YouTube’s current general help guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. It also says streamers must be at least 16 years old. Review YouTube’s live-streaming tips for computers and getting-started requirements before scheduling; platform requirements can change.

Clear video and audio rights

You are responsible for the rights to the live content, including music. Use recordings and soundtracks you own or are authorized to broadcast live. Keep permission records available for your own reference; this is practical recordkeeping, not a YouTube-mandated format. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches, and a stream may be interrupted or terminated. Even material you have licensed may require the rights owner to allowlist your channel through Content ID. See YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions and copyright guidance for live streams.

Build a loop that makes sense for learners

Group lessons in a deliberate order, check that playback transitions and audio levels are acceptable, and make the schedule understandable to viewers who may arrive mid-cycle. Confirm that the selected encoder or service can repeat the material as intended; the exact loop controls depend on that product. Do not treat permission to use an encoder as permission to retransmit a lesson or soundtrack.

Set up the YouTube Live event

  1. Open YouTube Studio and enter Live Control Room. Create a stream or schedule an event, then choose its audience, visibility, title, description, and other stream details.
  2. Configure the stream settings. Choose settings appropriate to your audience and operating plan, including privacy, chat moderation, latency, DVR, and auto-start or auto-stop where available. YouTube notes that controls can vary. Review Manage live stream settings for current options.
  3. Copy the stream URL and key. Paste them into the corresponding fields in your encoder or hosted service. YouTube describes the stream key as the password and address that allow the encoder to send the feed. Keep it private; reset it if it may have been exposed.
  4. Start the encoder or service and inspect the preview. Check that the correct video is playing and that both picture and sound reach Live Control Room before making the event public.
  5. Test the viewing experience, then launch. Use a private or unlisted test where appropriate. Check the watch page, playback, audio, and any moderation workflow before the public event begins.

Test, monitor, and plan for interruptions

YouTube recommends preparing ahead, testing a live stream, and continuously monitoring stream quality. Its computer streaming tips say to set up encoders at least 2 hours before an event and start them at least 15 minutes before a scheduled event. Those are YouTube’s preparation instructions, not a guarantee against failure.

  • Confirm the Live Control Room preview is healthy and the event is reachable by its intended audience.
  • Monitor audio and video throughout the broadcast, using a person or an alerting process responsible for stream health.
  • If you use a backup encoder, test failover rather than assuming it will work when needed.
  • If you record a local archive, verify that the file is intact and usable.
  • Have a response for power, internet, encoder, and content interruptions. A “24/7” plan still depends on the systems and material supplying the stream.

The reviewed YouTube guidance does not establish that a single live event can run indefinitely or that an uninterrupted 24/7 event will be archived forever. Check current platform limits before relying on a specific event duration or archive behavior.
