Short answer: JioPC is a cloud desktop, not a documented 24/7 video-playout service. It may be possible to run an encoder such as OBS on it, but Jio’s public information does not confirm that OBS can be installed or that a YouTube stream will continue through disconnections or access-session timeouts. In particular, Jio says a JioPC session accessed through its set-top box shuts down 15 minutes after the box is switched off. For a dependable continuous loop of recorded worship services, verify JioPC’s limits and complete a sustained test—or use a cloud playout service designed to keep prerecorded video streaming.
First decide what “continuously” means
A church may mean either a scheduled replay of one service or a channel that stays live and cycles through a library of recordings. A scheduled replay needs an encoder session that lasts for the broadcast. A continuous channel additionally needs a playlist or loop, plus a service that can sustain the stream and recover from interruptions. Do not treat a cloud desktop as continuous playout until its session behavior has been verified.
Can JioPC keep a YouTube stream running?
Jio describes JioPC as a computer delivered over the internet, with Ubuntu/Linux configurations. That makes it a possible place to investigate running an encoder, but it does not establish that OBS is installable in every subscriber environment or that an encoder process persists when the access session ends. Jio’s published configurations differ: its current product page lists 4 CPU/8 GB RAM/500 GB and 8 CPU/16 GB RAM/1 TB options, while another description refers to a launched configuration with 4 CPU/8 GB and 100 GB welcome storage or 500 GB on a paid plan. Confirm the active offer and specifications with Jio rather than assuming those pages describe one universal plan. JioPC product information.

For JioPC used through its set-top box, Jio says the desktop remains active for 15 minutes after the box is switched off, then shuts down. That is not evidence that a live encoder will continue after the box is turned off; plan to keep the access device on unless Jio confirms otherwise. The cited FAQ is specifically about set-top-box use, and it does not settle session timeouts for browser access. JioPC set-top-box information.

OBS compatibility is not confirmed by the word “Linux”
OBS lists Linux requirements including an OpenGL 3.3-compatible GPU and X window system or Wayland. OBS also warns that meeting basic system requirements does not guarantee that a device can stream or record: results depend on the encoder, resolution, frame rate and scene complexity. JioPC’s general Ubuntu/Linux description does not confirm that its hosted environment exposes the required graphics support or permits OBS installation. OBS system requirements.
Set up a JioPC test before relying on it
- Ask Jio about the specific account and access method. Confirm whether OBS installation and outbound YouTube RTMP streaming are allowed; whether browser access has a timeout; whether disconnecting suspends the desktop; and whether an encoder can keep running without the browser or set-top box active. Public information does not resolve these questions for every plan.
- Enable YouTube Live in advance. YouTube says initial live-stream activation may take up to 24 hours. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and follow the current encoder setup instructions. Do this well before the planned service. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
- Prepare the recording and playlist. Decide which past services may be rebroadcast and in what order. Check that the video and audio play correctly, and confirm that your church has the rights needed to rebroadcast every component, including music, readings, slides and any third-party footage. A stream being technically possible does not establish that its content is permitted.
- Protect the stream key. Copy the key from YouTube Studio into the encoder’s stream settings without sharing it publicly. Treat it like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to the channel. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Configure and start the encoder. Use the stream URL and key specified by YouTube for the selected stream. Choose a video resolution, frame rate and bitrate that the JioPC session and its internet connection can sustain; use YouTube’s current recommendations for the selected output rather than assuming one bitrate fits every recording. Check that audio is present, inspect YouTube’s preview and stream-health status, and start the broadcast only after the preview is correct.
- Test longer than the intended broadcast. Monitor the stream for the full planned duration and beyond. Simulate the interruptions that matter—especially browser disconnection and, if using the set-top box, switching it off. Verify whether the desktop, encoder and YouTube broadcast continue, and test how the stream recovers after a dropped connection. Stream recorded services responsibly
Before making a past service available as a live rebroadcast, review the rights and permissions for the complete recording. A church’s permission to use a song during an in-person service does not, by itself, establish permission to stream or rebroadcast it on YouTube. Check the applicable licences and permissions for music, performers, readings, images and other third-party material. Keep records of permissions, and remove or replace material you are not authorized to use. YouTube’s live setup documentation explains the encoder workflow; it does not grant rights to the content you send.

Also decide how the live event should appear on the channel: as a scheduled event, a continuing broadcast, or a sequence of replays. Check YouTube Studio’s current controls for the stream and for its archive. Do not assume a particular archive or replay behavior without checking the settings for that broadcast.

JioPC or cloud playout: which fits a church channel?
JioPC plus an encoder gives you a desktop environment to operate, but its suitability for continuous broadcasting depends on installation permissions, session persistence and network behavior that are not established for every access mode. Cloud playout is a different category: the church-oriented service Playout.video advertises broadcasting uploaded past services around the clock without a streaming PC. That page supports the broad use case, not a guarantee about a particular plan’s reconnect behavior, format support, cost or availability; verify those details with the provider. When comparing any option, ask whether it supports your intended duration, uploaded prerecorded media and looping or scheduling; how it reconnects after interruptions; how it connects to YouTube and protects the stream key; what resolution and archive behavior it supports; whether a browser or set-top-box session must stay active; and the full recurring cost. The available JioPC and church-service pages do not answer every one of those questions.
