For a finished Sunday school lesson that people can watch later, upload it to YouTube Studio and publish it or schedule it—no live broadcast is needed. Choose the audience setting and visibility carefully, and check permissions for any music, images, or clips in the recording. If you specifically need the recording to play as a YouTube live stream, that is a separate setup from uploading a video.
Upload and publish or schedule the lesson
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and upload the finished video. YouTube processes the upload into the highest resolution available; higher-resolution processing can take longer, so the video may not be ready at full quality immediately.
- Add the details viewers need. Write a clear title and description, select a thumbnail and playlist, and set the original language. Add captions if you have them and chapter timestamps if they will help viewers navigate the lesson. You can select the Education category and an educational type such as a lecture or concept overview.
- Set the audience accurately. Decide whether this particular video is made for kids. Do not assume that the words “Sunday school” alone determine the right audience designation; consider the actual content and intended audience.
- Review YouTube Studio’s Checks page. Treat copyright checks as screening, not as permission or legal clearance. YouTube notes that “Copyright check results aren’t final.” Resolve rights for third-party songs, images, and clips separately before publication.
- Choose visibility. Select Public, Unlisted, or Private based on how you intend people to find and access the lesson.
- Publish now or schedule it. For a planned release, schedule the video in Studio for the date and time you choose, then review the settings before saving. A scheduled video remains private until its scheduled publication date.
Choose who can watch the recording
Visibility controls discoverability and access; it does not guarantee that a link stays within a congregation. YouTube says, “Anyone with the link can also reshare it.”

If the lesson is meant for broad discovery, Public is the straightforward choice. Unlisted is convenient for link-based sharing, but recipients can reshare the link. Private is the narrower option when access should be limited to specifically shared viewers.

Set the audience with children and privacy in mind
Review the recording itself and select the made-for-kids audience setting based on the content and intended audience. The designation affects YouTube features. For livestreams set as Made for Kids, YouTube disables live chat and its replay, comments on archives and upcoming streams, and reminder notifications; personalized ads are also disabled on live streams and Premieres. Those livestream feature effects are distinct from simply uploading a recorded lesson.

Uploading a recording is different from streaming it live
If families or congregation members need a recording to watch later, the upload-and-publish or upload-and-schedule workflow above is the simpler fit. A scheduled upload is not itself a live broadcast.
If you need an event page where prerecorded material plays out as a YouTube live stream, plan that as a separate encoder or playout workflow. Check that the channel currently has live-stream access and review the applicable YouTube policies before choosing this format. The general YouTube guidance cited here does not establish a distinct India-specific procedure or a complete encoder recipe for this use case.
