To keep a real estate walkthrough on YouTube continuously, choose between a live camera feed from the property and a loop of prerecorded walkthrough videos. For a live camera, use YouTube’s encoder workflow: verify the channel, enable live streaming, create a stream in YouTube Studio, and connect an encoder with the stream URL and private stream key. For a prerecorded loop, use a service designed to replay uploaded video. These are different setups; a camera encoder does not by itself turn recorded footage into a continuous loop.
YouTube says first-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours. For unattended operation, plan for stable upload bandwidth, power, heat, recording and recovery—not just a camera pointed at the property.
Choose the right kind of continuous stream
| Approach | What viewers see | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Live camera feed | Video captured at the property in real time | A current view of a site, show home or property activity |
| Prerecorded loop | Previously recorded walkthrough footage replayed as a live stream | A polished tour that should run repeatedly without a camera operator onsite |
YouTube’s encoder guidance covers external video equipment and advanced productions. It also lists CamStreamer for automated 24/7 streams from supported Axis cameras and Gyre for cloud-based 24/7 streams of prerecorded video. YouTube says the listed products are not made by YouTube; check current compatibility and service terms before choosing either. YouTube encoder guidance

Set up a live walkthrough from the property
- Prepare the channel. Verify the YouTube channel and enable live streaming in YouTube Studio. YouTube notes that first-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so do this before the day you plan to film. YouTube live-streaming eligibility
- Choose your capture and encoder setup. Use a camera and either encoder software on a computer or a standalone encoder. YouTube distinguishes software encoders from standalone hardware. A computer-based setup can offer flexible source and overlay control; a standalone unit or compatible network camera may mean fewer separate devices in a fixed installation. These are practical trade-offs, not comparative performance findings. YouTube encoder guidance
- Create or schedule the stream. In YouTube Studio, open the live-streaming workflow, create or schedule the stream, and select the encoder workflow. Keep the stream URL and stream key available for the encoder. Exact labels can change as YouTube updates Studio.
- Configure the encoder. Enter YouTube’s stream URL and the matching stream key in the encoder. The key is a credential: do not show it on camera, share it publicly, or include it in a screen recording. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder. YouTube’s setup guidance explains the connection settings. YouTube encoder settings
- Test before publishing. Start the encoder and wait for the Live Control Room preview. Check picture, audio, framing, and the public watch page before you promote or rely on the stream. Confirm that any local recording is being written.
- Go live and monitor. During operation, watch for dropped frames, frozen video, audio loss and network interruptions. Continuous streaming still needs a plan for power, heat, connectivity and someone—or a system—to notice failures.
Configure bandwidth and reliability
Measure outbound upload capacity at the property; a download-speed result does not show whether the connection can carry the stream. YouTube recommends keeping stream bitrate below available upload bandwidth with 20% headroom, and stresses network reliability. Treat that as a planning recommendation, not a guarantee that a connection will remain stable. YouTube network and encoder guidance
#1 Best Overall
- Test the actual camera, encoder, network route and stream together before leaving the property.
- Use the Live Control Room preview and watch page to check what viewers receive, not only what the encoder reports.
- For unattended use, account for outages, power loss, heat and storage; the cited YouTube guidance does not prescribe a particular uptime design.
- Keep a local recording if the footage matters as an archive. YouTube says it can automatically archive streams under 12 hours, but streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube archive guidance
Plan the replay and recording
A continuous broadcast and a complete replay are separate goals. YouTube’s archive guidance says, “If your live stream is less than 12 hours, YouTube can automatically archive it for you.” A stream longer than 12 hours may not be archived. If viewers or your team need a dependable record, record locally or divide the program into planned shorter sessions, then check that each archive is available. YouTube archive live streams
Clear rights and filming permissions in India
Use original footage or secure the rights needed for worldwide use of everything in the live stream, including music, logos and other people’s video. YouTube’s live-stream terms place responsibility for necessary rights and compliance with applicable law on the provider. YouTube Terms of Service

India’s Copyright Act covers cinematograph films and sound recordings and defines communication to the public broadly. Statutory exceptions are limited; they are not general permission to add third-party music or video to a property tour. India Copyright Act, 1957
If the walkthrough includes drone footage, India’s Drone Rules apply to unmanned aircraft operated in or over India. The applicable airspace permissions depend on the location and operation. Separately check access to the property and obtain appropriate filming permissions; the cited rules do not settle resident-consent or privacy questions for a particular shoot. India Drone Rules, 2021

Common problems and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot start a live stream | Live streaming is not enabled or first-time activation is still pending | Verify the channel and enable streaming ahead of the shoot; allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation. |
| The encoder does not connect to YouTube | Incorrect stream URL or key, or a key that was changed | Copy the current URL and key from the stream setup in Studio. Keep the key private; reset it if exposed. |
| The feed buffers or drops | Insufficient or unstable outbound capacity | Check upload capacity at the property, reduce the stream bitrate so it stays below available upload with YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom, and test the full route. |
| The archive is missing or incomplete | The stream exceeded 12 hours, or archiving did not produce the expected result | Do not rely on YouTube as the only recording. Keep a local copy or use planned shorter sessions, then verify the archive. |
| The picture looks wrong in the preview | Camera framing, encoder source or connection configuration is incorrect | Check the Live Control Room preview before publishing and verify the camera source and encoder configuration. |
Or let it run in the cloud
For a prerecorded property walkthrough rather than a live camera, StreamNeo keeps an uploaded video or playlist live on YouTube from the cloud. Upload the recording, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. The monthly option is $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are available in India. Start your free day with StreamNeo.

A live-camera installation needs a camera, mounting, encoder (software on a computer or standalone hardware), reliable network equipment, power and a recording plan. A prerecorded loop avoids keeping a camera and encoder running onsite, but uses a streaming service or other loop setup. YouTube’s cited guidance does not provide comparative costs or independent reliability measurements, so price the equipment, connectivity and operating needs for the specific property rather than assuming one approach is cheaper.
