To stream Punjabi shabad kirtan continuously on YouTube, use a verified, eligible channel; confirm you have permission for the exact recordings and visuals; then send an encoder feed to YouTube and plan for monitoring and recovery. OBS Studio is a free do-it-yourself route, but its computer, power and internet connection must stay available. For uploaded recordings that should loop without a home computer, a cloud playout service such as StreamNeo is another option.
1. Check YouTube live-stream eligibility before preparing the program
YouTube requires the channel to be verified and not have a live-streaming restriction within the previous 90 days. The person livestreaming must be at least 16. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned launch. Check the channel’s live-stream access in YouTube Studio rather than waiting until the day of the broadcast. YouTube’s live-streaming requirements and encoder setup guidance explain eligibility and activation.
2. Clear rights to the recordings and visuals
A devotional subject, a publicly viewable video, or permission to perform a shabad does not automatically give you permission to rebroadcast a particular recording. Check rights for the composition, performance, sound recording and every visual element, and confirm whether permission covers the live stream and an archived replay. The answer depends on the specific material and permissions; YouTube’s platform guidance does not determine Indian rights for a particular work.
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted material. A match may result in a warning, interruption or termination. If a rights holder has licensed the material for your channel, ask them to add your channel to their Content ID allowlist; YouTube says a stream can still be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams. Do not assume that religious content is exempt from copyright rules.

3. Choose how the continuous program will be played

OBS Studio: free software that you operate
OBS Studio is free, open-source streaming software for Windows, macOS and Linux, and YouTube lists it among encoder options. OBS is a practical baseline if you can configure and monitor a computer for the duration of the stream. The computer, OBS, the source media, electricity and a stable internet connection all need to remain available; OBS does not itself grant music rights or guarantee unattended recovery.

Dedicated hardware or other cloud playout
YouTube lists the AJA HELO Plus as a hardware option capable of direct YouTube streaming and scheduled playback of prerecorded media without a computer. It may suit an operator who specifically wants dedicated equipment, but it is optional for a straightforward setup. YouTube also lists cloud services for 24/7 prerecorded streams. Compare any service’s terms, controls, recovery behavior and availability in India before relying on it; the fact that playback is in the cloud does not by itself guarantee an uninterrupted broadcast. 4. Prepare a simple, rights-cleared OBS program
For a prerecorded devotional stream, prepare the authorized audio and an image or video you are permitted to broadcast. A still image can work if it is legible and appropriate; use permitted lyrics, schedule information or channel branding only. A microphone is unnecessary unless you are also capturing a live singer, speaker or commentary.

- Install OBS Studio. Download it from the OBS Project and open it on the computer that will operate the stream.
- Create a scene and sources. Add the authorized media source and any permitted visual. Confirm that the audio meter responds and that the visual is framed and readable.
- Create the YouTube encoder stream. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream using an encoder, and copy the server and stream key from YouTube’s stream settings.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open Settings, then Stream; select YouTube as the service and enter the stream key, or use the connection method offered by your OBS version. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it. YouTube’s current instructions are in Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Set the output and video settings. Choose a resolution and frame rate your computer and upload connection can sustain. Use H.264 video, constant bitrate (CBR), AAC audio and a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube recommends RTMPS and a keyframe interval of two seconds, not exceeding four. YouTube’s settings also list H.265/HEVC and AV1 video, MP3 audio, and frame rates up to 60 fps; encoder and account support can vary, so follow the current Live Control Room guidance.
- Start with an unlisted test. Use the actual audio, visuals and intended settings. Check for clean audio, readable imagery, stable upload and any stream-health warnings before announcing the public broadcast.
5. Set a bitrate your connection can sustain
There is no single bitrate that suits every Indian internet connection or every program. YouTube publishes minimum and recommended bitrates by resolution, frame rate and codec; for H.264 at 1080p30, its current table lists 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended. Those are YouTube ingestion recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular connection will hold steady. Check your available upload speed, leave headroom for normal fluctuations, and test at the chosen settings. If the stream health degrades, reduce resolution or bitrate and test again rather than trying to push the connection to its limit. Consult YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions for the current table.
6. Test the complete broadcast and plan for interruptions
Before launch, run an unlisted stream long enough to exercise the real playback setup. YouTube for Artists recommends an unlisted test for music channels; YouTube also advises testing representative audio and movement and checking stream health. Confirm the whole chain: the source advances or loops as expected, audio stays audible without clipping, the visual remains correct, and YouTube reports a healthy incoming feed. A 24/7 target is an operating plan, not a platform uptime guarantee. With a local OBS setup, the computer, encoder, power, network and source media are all dependencies. Keep someone responsible for checking the Live Control Room and responding to encoder, connection, power, content-match or platform notices. Decide in advance who will restart the encoder, check the stream key, restore the source and verify the stream after an interruption. YouTube’s stream-health information can help diagnose an incoming-feed problem, but it does not remove the need for an operator or recovery plan.

8. Troubleshoot common failures
- You cannot start a live stream: Check channel verification, live-stream access, age eligibility and any restriction in the previous 90 days. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours for it to become available.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder: Confirm the stream key and server details in the Live Control Room, check that the encoder is connected to the intended service, and verify internet access. If you replaced or reset the key, update the encoder with the current one.
- Stream health reports instability or dropped frames: Check upload stability and encoder load. Reduce bitrate, resolution or frame rate to a level the connection and computer can sustain, then run another test.
- Audio is silent, clipped or out of sync: Check the selected OBS audio source, its meter and playback device; lower an overloaded level and test the audio against the video before going live again.
- A copyright notice interrupts the stream: Stop and review the notice and the rights for the matched material. Do not simply restart with the same content. If you have a license, ask the rights holder to allowlist your channel in Content ID; otherwise replace the material with content you are authorized to broadcast.
- The stream stops while nobody is present: Identify whether the cause was power, computer sleep, OBS, the network, source playback, a YouTube notice or platform interruption. Restore the failed dependency, reconnect the encoder and verify the live feed in Studio. A local setup needs an operator or a documented recovery procedure; cloud playback can remove the home computer and connection as dependencies but cannot promise uninterrupted YouTube service.
