You can send a prerecorded unboxing video to YouTube Live through an encoder that plays the recording as its outgoing feed. Set up a live stream in YouTube Studio, give the encoder the stream URL and key, configure its video output, preview the feed, and start streaming. For a channel that needs to keep prerecorded videos running without leaving a computer on, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload the video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live.
One important limit: YouTube’s encoder help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement describes archiving; it does not establish that a single stream can run continuously for 24 hours. YouTube’s reviewed official pages also do not expressly approve or prohibit a continuously repeated prerecorded loop, so check the current policies for your specific format.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel that is eligible for live streaming. YouTube’s current eligibility help page says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days; the minimum age is 16. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- An encoder capable of playing or ingesting your recording and transmitting it as a live feed. YouTube supports software encoders; professional-grade hardware encoders are an option for higher-production events, not a requirement for getting started. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
- Permission to use every part of the recording, including music, product clips, graphics, and other third-party material.
- A stable internet connection and a plan to monitor the stream. YouTube recommends monitoring audio and video quality during a broadcast.
Check rights and YouTube policy first
Being prerecorded or featuring an unboxing does not remove copyright obligations. YouTube’s livestream terms say: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” Read the Livestream terms and conditions and confirm that your permissions cover the material and the intended use.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can cause the stream to be replaced by a placeholder, interrupted, or terminated. A license alone may not prevent interruption if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

The official pages cited here do not specifically decide whether repeating a prerecorded video continuously is permitted as a format. Do not treat the absence of an explicit rule on that precise setup as approval; review current YouTube policies for your content and format before launching.
Set up a prerecorded unboxing stream with an encoder
- Confirm live access. Verify the channel and check that live streaming is available in YouTube Studio. If live streaming has not been enabled before, allow for any setup or activation delay shown by YouTube.
- Create or schedule the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and choose the encoder-compatible setup. YouTube’s encoder workflow is to create the stream, copy its server URL and stream key into the encoder, preview the incoming feed in Live Control Room, then start the encoder and go live. Follow the current encoder setup instructions.
- Protect the stream key. Enter the stream URL and key in the encoder’s destination or streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: it gives the encoder the credentials needed to send video to that stream. Do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the broadcast.
- Load the recording as the encoder’s outgoing video. Use an encoder that can play or ingest the prerecorded file and continue sending it as a live feed. YouTube’s destination setup documentation explains the URL and key workflow; it does not specify a universal repeat-playback procedure. The exact controls for selecting a file, looping it, and keeping playback running depend on the encoder you choose.
- Choose a supported delivery protocol and settings. YouTube recommends RTMPS, an encrypted extension of RTMP. Its general encoder guidance lists CBR as the bitrate encoding mode, recommends a two-second keyframe frequency, and says not to exceed four seconds. Choose a resolution and bitrate using YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrate, and resolution guidance and your encoder’s supported settings; there is no single bitrate that suits every resolution and connection. HLS is another ingestion option for some capabilities and codecs, but YouTube says it has higher latency than RTMP.
- Preview before going live. Check the incoming feed in Live Control Room before starting the broadcast. Confirm that the picture, sound, framing, and playback are correct; a file playing locally is not by itself confirmation that YouTube is receiving it.
- Start the encoder and monitor the broadcast. Start transmission from the encoder, then check the live preview and monitor audio and video quality while the stream is running. Plan how you will respond if playback, the network, the encoder, or YouTube interrupts the feed.
Choose software or hardware encoding

In either case, the encoder must be able to send the recording as its live output. The cited YouTube instructions do not verify any particular model, software package, computer, or endurance performance.

Plan for long broadcasts and archives
YouTube’s encoder help page says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. This is an archive statement, not a promise that a single live session can run beyond 12 hours or guidance on how a longer broadcast behaves. If you want an around-the-clock presentation, plan the stream sessions and archives separately, and check YouTube’s current instructions rather than assuming one encoder session will cover a full day.

A continuous broadcast also needs ongoing monitoring and a recovery plan. The reviewed YouTube sources do not provide a guarantee of uninterrupted operation or a complete 24/7 looping recipe.
