You can stream Navratri bhajans around the clock on YouTube, but a YouTube playlist alone cannot create a live broadcast. You need recordings and visuals you are authorized to broadcast, an eligible YouTube channel, and an encoder or cloud playout service that continuously sends the playlist as a live feed. What you need for a 24/7 bhajan livestream
Think of the playlist as the program order, not the broadcaster. An encoder or managed playout workflow plays the selected items in sequence and sends a continuous audio/video feed to YouTube. You can use software on an existing computer, a standalone hardware encoder, or a cloud service. You do not necessarily need a new camera, microphone, or dedicated encoder for an audio-led broadcast.
- Rights-cleared content: recordings and visuals you are permitted to broadcast.
- YouTube Live access: a verified channel without a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days; streamers must be at least 16. First-time access can take up to 24 hours to activate. - A continuous playout method: an encoder that stays connected and plays the program, or a cloud service with suitable current capabilities.
- Monitoring and a replay plan: a way to detect interruptions and preserve a copy if you need a complete archive.
Clear the music rights before building the playlist
Do not assume a devotional song, an existing YouTube playlist, a paid subscription, or a “copyright free” label gives you permission to rebroadcast a particular recording. Rights can differ between the sound recording and the underlying composition, and permission may be limited by territory, platform, or use.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches and may interrupt or terminate a stream. YouTube Help warns: “If your channel isn’t added to their allowlist, your live stream can be interrupted even if you’ve licensed the content.” Ask the relevant rights owner to add your channel to the Content ID allowlist when you use licensed third-party content, and coordinate with the label or distributor as needed. Keep a rights log for each item before adding it to the rotation. Record the track title, recording owner, composition or publishing contact where relevant, permission scope and territory, applicable dates, and any confirmation that the channel has been allowlisted. This is a practical recordkeeping step, not a determination that any particular bhajan is cleared.

For an encoder setup, YouTube documents both software and standalone hardware encoder workflows. Follow the supported settings for your chosen encoder and the current options shown in YouTube Live Control Room. The YouTube HLS ingestion specification is a technical path intended for encoder implementations, not a consumer playlist feature: it describes continuous ingestion using ordered media playlists and segments, muxed audio/video in M2TS, H.264 or HEVC video, and AAC audio. Set up a DIY livestream with an always-on computer
- Prepare the rotation. Assemble the authorized bhajan recordings and visuals in the order you want them played. Configure your chosen playback and encoding workflow to repeat the sequence continuously, and confirm it does not stop at the end of the list.
- Enable YouTube Live early. Verify your channel and enable live streaming before the planned start. For a first-time creator, allow up to 24 hours for access. Check that the channel has no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days and that the person operating the stream is at least 16.
- Create or schedule the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream. Open its stream details and copy the server URL and stream key into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- Start the encoder feed and check the preview. Begin sending the playlist, then wait for the preview in Live Control Room. Confirm that the audio is audible and that the visual presentation is present and intentional. Start with an unlisted test before making the broadcast public.
- Go live and monitor the whole setup. Check the encoder process, network connection, power, YouTube preview/player, and audio/video quality during the broadcast. YouTube recommends testing and continuously monitoring stream quality; a long-running stream is not self-maintaining just because playback is set to loop. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
- Keep a local recording if you need a dependable replay. Decide in advance how to record the output locally or whether to run shorter broadcasts for separate archives. Test the recording and archive workflow before relying on it.

Plan for interruptions and complete archives
YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours. A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, so a single continuous 24/7 broadcast is not a dependable way to obtain a complete replay. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive as backup. If replay files matter, test local recording or use multiple shorter planned broadcasts and verify that each archive completes. For continuous operation, establish who or what will notice a dropped feed, how playback will resume, and how a local recording will be checked. YouTube’s own guidance recommends testing and monitoring; do not rely on a looping setting as a substitute for an interruption plan.

Common problems and what to check
- YouTube Live is unavailable: verify the channel, check for an active live-stream restriction, and enable streaming in advance. A first-time setup may need up to 24 hours.
- The stream shows an error or never receives a preview: check that the encoder has the correct server URL and stream key from the intended YouTube Studio broadcast. Re-copy the details if needed and keep the key private.
- The broadcast is interrupted after music begins: investigate a third-party match. Confirm that the rights cover the specific recording, composition, intended use, and territory; ask the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting. A license alone may not prevent interruption.
- The playlist stops or the stream goes silent: check that the playback workflow is actually set to repeat, the source files remain available, and the encoder process is still active. Test the complete rotation before the public launch.
- Audio or video quality deteriorates: inspect the source, encoder status, network stability, and YouTube preview. Test before going public and continue monitoring during the stream.
- The broadcast has no complete replay: a stream over 12 hours may not be archived. Use a tested local recording plan or shorter broadcasts if complete replay files are important.
FAQ
Does YouTube’s HLS playlist make my bhajan playlist live?
No. HLS playlists and segments are part of a technical encoder ingestion method. A regular YouTube playlist is not an encoder and does not send a live feed.
Do I need a hardware encoder?
No. YouTube supports software encoders as well as standalone hardware encoders. A computer and suitable software may be enough if you can keep the system available and monitor it.
