You can stream Indian film instrumentals around the clock on YouTube by continuously sending a video feed through an encoder or a cloud service—but first secure rights for both the specific recording and the underlying musical work. A licence may not prevent YouTube from interrupting the broadcast: the relevant rights owner may also need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist.
Clear the music rights before you build the stream
An instrumental track is not automatically copyright-free because it has no vocals. India’s Copyright Act, 1957 treats a musical work and a sound recording as separate protected works, and lists communication to the public among the rights associated with each. A film instrumental can therefore involve permissions for the composition as well as the particular recording.
| What you plan to use | What to verify |
|---|---|
| The musical work | Permission for the underlying composition, including its use in a YouTube livestream. |
| The sound recording | Permission for the particular recording or instrumental version, including livestream use. |
| The broadcast and any replay | Territories covered, whether the licence covers livestreaming, and whether it also covers an archived replay. |
The sources do not identify the owners or terms for any particular film track. Confirm the permission chain for every recording you plan to play rather than assuming that permission for one version covers another.
The Act includes a statutory-licence provision for broadcasting certain published literary or musical works and sound recordings. That does not establish blanket permission for a creator’s YouTube livestream or settle whether all relevant rights and uses are covered. Applicability depends on the repertoire, channel, territory, platform arrangement and planned use; check with qualified counsel and the relevant rights holders.

Account for YouTube’s Content ID checks
YouTube Help says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. If it detects a match, YouTube may warn you, replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it or terminate it. YouTube also warns that a stream can be interrupted even when you have licensed the content if the channel is not on the rights owner’s allowlist.
- Ask the label, distributor or other relevant rights owner whether your channel needs Content ID allowlisting.
- Obtain confirmation of any required allowlisting before relying on the licence to keep a live broadcast running.
- Keep permission records that identify the tracks, permitted use and territories, and whether an archive is covered.
YouTube for Artists also recommends coordinating with a label or distributor when using copyright-protected music. A licence and an allowlist address rights and Content ID handling; neither is a guarantee that a 24/7 feed will never encounter technical interruptions.

Choose how the continuous feed will run
YouTube supports software and hardware encoders. Either way, a continuous broadcast needs a source that keeps playing the video and audio, a connection that keeps sending the feed, and a person or service able to notice and respond to problems.
- Software encoder: YouTube lists OBS as a software option. The computer running the playout and encoder, along with its network connection, must remain available for the stream to continue.
- Hardware encoder: YouTube lists the AJA HELO Plus as an example and describes features including recording and scheduled streaming of prerecorded media. It is an optional equipment choice, not a requirement for this project or proof of 24/7 reliability.
- Cloud playout: A cloud service can run uploaded videos without depending on a home computer staying on. Check that the service supports continuous playout, playlists, recovery and your required quality, and separately clear all music rights.
YouTube’s encoder setup guidance does not specify a complete 24/7 operating plan, staffing model, redundancy design or recovery guarantee. Decide in advance who will monitor the feed and what they will do if the encoder stalls, the network drops or YouTube raises a copyright warning.

Set up and test the YouTube broadcast
- Enable live streaming early. YouTube says first-time live access may take up to 24 hours to become available.
- Prepare the playout. Assemble the video and audio you are authorized to use, then confirm that the chosen encoder or cloud service can play it continuously. YouTube’s setup guidance supports encoder-based streaming but does not prescribe one bitrate, resolution or keyframe setting for every setup. Use the current settings supported by your encoder and YouTube’s live workflow rather than assuming one value fits every source and connection.
- Create a stream in YouTube Studio. Use the Live Control Room to create the broadcast and obtain the stream server URL and stream key.
- Connect the encoder. Enter the server URL and stream key in the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key as a credential: do not publish it or include it in a public recording or screenshot.
- Test before scheduling the public broadcast. YouTube for Artists recommends testing with an unlisted stream in advance. Confirm that audio and video reach the Live Control Room preview and that your rights arrangements, including any required allowlisting, are in place.
- Start the broadcast and monitor it. Start the encoder or cloud playout, check the preview, then watch for connection problems and copyright notices. Keep a person or service responsible for responding if the feed stops or YouTube interrupts it.
Plan for archives and interruptions
Do not count on a complete 24-hour replay
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its guidance does not promise that a full 24/7 broadcast will be archived as one complete replay. If keeping a complete replay matters, plan separate recording and storage rather than treating YouTube’s automatic archive as a backup.
Know who will recover the stream
YouTube’s published setup guidance does not guarantee uninterrupted operation or provide a complete redundancy blueprint for a continuous channel. Decide who will check the stream, how often it will be monitored, and how the broadcast will be restarted after an encoder, computer or network problem. A copyright interruption needs a rights or Content ID response, not just an encoder restart.

Common problems and what to check
- Live streaming is not available: If this is the first time enabling it, allow up to 24 hours for access to become available, as YouTube advises.
- The Live Control Room preview is blank or has no audio: Check that the encoder is sending to the server URL and stream key for the intended broadcast, and verify the playout source and encoder output before going public.
- YouTube interrupts or replaces the stream: Check for a copyright notice or third-party match. Contact the relevant rights owner about the claim and any required channel allowlisting; restarting the encoder alone may not address the cause.
- The broadcast stops after a computer or network problem: Check the playout device, encoder and internet connection, then restart the feed and confirm its preview. For a continuous channel, assign monitoring and recovery responsibility in advance.
- The full broadcast is missing from the archive: YouTube’s automatic-archive statement covers streams under 12 hours, not a full 24/7 broadcast. Use separate recording if a complete replay is required.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for keeping uploaded videos live; it does not broadcast from a camera. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once and go live. It is the first option to consider if you want continuous playout without leaving a computer running at home: any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps streams as made at one flat price per slot, and the service automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support from the StreamNeo team. There are no quality tiers; the same product is available on each plan, with only the billing period changing. The first day is free with no card, and you can cancel any time. For readers in India, UPI works alongside cards; card checkout is available worldwide.

What audience figures can—and cannot—tell you
YouTube for Artists reported that, on average, over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. That platform-wide statistic describes viewing across YouTube; it is not an audience forecast for a particular Indian film instrumental channel.
