You can stream Hindi videos continuously from a Hetzner VPS by running an encoder such as FFmpeg on the server and sending its feed to YouTube Live with your stream URL and stream key. Use YouTube’s recommended RTMPS connection, choose video settings your source and server can sustain, and secure the rights to every video and audio track. A VPS can reduce dependence on a home computer, but it cannot guarantee uninterrupted delivery from encoder to viewers.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel eligible to livestream. It must be verified and have no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of your planned start. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance covers eligibility and activation.
- A Hetzner Cloud Server or vServer with an operating system and enough resources for your chosen encoder and media. Check the current plan, region, traffic policy, and pricing directly with Hetzner; those details vary and should not be assumed.
- Video and audio files you own or are authorized to use worldwide, including music rights.
- An encoder installed on the VPS. FFmpeg documents RTMPS support and real-time file streaming, but the specific looping command and setup below have not been tested as an end-to-end recipe. Confirm options against the FFmpeg build installed on your server. FFmpeg protocol documentation
Configure YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, open the live-stream setup and create or configure a stream. Follow YouTube’s current channel activation and stream-creation steps; interface labels can change.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown in the encoder settings. Configure the encoder to send to that URL using the key. Treat the key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send a feed to your channel. Do not publish it in scripts, logs, screenshots, or a public repository.
- Select RTMPS where available. YouTube recommends RTMPS, which adds a secure layer to RTMP. Consult YouTube’s encoder settings for its current requirements and recommendations.
- Start the encoder, then check the live control room for the incoming signal and stream health before making the broadcast public or relying on it to run unattended.
Choose video and audio settings
Match the output to the source material and what the VPS can encode and upload reliably. The following H.264 bitrate figures are YouTube’s recommendations, not guarantees of quality or stability:
| Output target | YouTube-recommended H.264 bitrate | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | A moderate-resolution feed suits the source or available capacity is constrained. |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 14 Mbps | The source is genuinely 1080p and the VPS encoder and outbound connection can sustain the higher rate. |
YouTube lists H.264, H.265, and AV1 video; up to 60 fps; AAC or MP3 audio; and constant-bitrate encoding. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. Encoder support and available options depend on the software and build you install. See YouTube’s current encoder settings before choosing a codec or adapting an FFmpeg command.
Leave bandwidth headroom rather than setting the stream bitrate equal to the VPS connection’s claimed maximum. YouTube recommends leaving 20% room. Its streaming tips also advise testing the setup and monitoring stream health. If capacity is uncertain, reduce resolution, frame rate, or bitrate and test with representative motion and audio.

Loop Hindi videos with an encoder on the VPS
FFmpeg’s documentation establishes that it supports RTMPS and can send a file in real time to an RTMP server. It does not establish a tested command for looping a playlist into a YouTube broadcast, and FFmpeg options can differ by installed version and build. Use the documentation for your build to construct the input, loop or playlist behavior, encoding settings, and RTMPS output. Insert YouTube’s stream URL and key securely rather than copying credentials into a publicly visible command history.
- Upload the videos and any authorized audio assets to the VPS. Check that they are readable by the account that will run FFmpeg, and make sure the server has enough disk space.
- Choose an output resolution and frame rate appropriate to the source. Set the video codec, constant bitrate, two-second keyframes, and audio codec using options supported by your installed FFmpeg build and YouTube’s current encoder guidance.
- Configure the output for YouTube’s RTMPS URL and stream key. Avoid exposing the key in shared scripts or logs.
- Test the feed in YouTube Studio. Confirm video, audio, resolution, and stream health; watch for dropped frames or encoder overload before leaving it unattended.
- For continuous operation, arrange for the encoder process to restart after a crash or server reboot and monitor it remotely. A process supervisor can recover a failed process, but it cannot correct a bad key, unsupported codec, rights claim, exhausted server resources, or network failure.
Rights and YouTube live-stream rules
YouTube requires live content to comply with its Community Guidelines, and the creator represents that they have the necessary rights for worldwide use, including applicable music rights. Hindi-language content is not exempt: a song, film clip, devotional recording, or background track can be protected even if it is widely shared elsewhere. Read YouTube’s terms and ensure your permissions cover the particular video, audio, territory, and live-stream use.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. It may show a placeholder image and warn the creator; if the matched content remains, the stream may be temporarily interrupted or terminated. For licensed third-party live content, YouTube advises asking the rights holder to allowlist your channel through Content ID. Having a license alone may not prevent an interruption if the owner has not allowlisted the channel. Details are in YouTube’s guidance on live-stream copyright.

What 24/7 means in practice
A continuous broadcast depends on the encoder, VPS, network path, YouTube ingestion, and the content remaining available under platform rules. Hetzner’s Cloud and vServer service agreement describes commercially reasonable efforts toward 99.9% monthly availability for Cloud Servers, with exclusions that include customer software or configuration failures and certain external network problems. That is not a guarantee of uninterrupted delivery to YouTube or viewers. Review the applicable Hetzner service agreement for the product you use.

Do not estimate a monthly stream cost from an assumed traffic allowance or outbound rate. Verify the current traffic policy, limits, and charges for your exact Hetzner product and location, then calculate expected usage from your chosen bitrate and hours streamed. A backup encoder and monitoring can reduce some operational risks; YouTube recommends testing encoder failover, but failover does not guarantee an uninterrupted broadcast. YouTube’s streaming tips
Troubleshooting common failures
- YouTube does not show an incoming feed: Check that live streaming is activated, the correct stream URL and key are configured, the key has not been changed, and the VPS can reach the destination. Do not post the key while seeking help.
- The channel cannot go live: Verify the channel and check for a live-streaming restriction in the prior 90 days. Initial activation may take up to 24 hours.
- Video is unstable or drops frames: Compare the encoder’s output bitrate with sustained outbound capacity, leave headroom, and try a lower-resolution or lower-bitrate setting. Check server load and encoder health as well as network conditions.
- Video appears but audio is missing or incorrect: Check that the selected audio input is present, that the encoder uses a YouTube-supported audio codec such as AAC or MP3, and that the test includes audible content.
- The stream is interrupted after starting: Check YouTube Studio for a copyright warning or stream-health error. A rights match can interrupt or terminate a live stream; if the content is licensed, ask the rights holder about Content ID channel allowlisting.
- The stream stops after a VPS restart or encoder crash: Configure process supervision and restart behavior, then test recovery. Confirm that the media files, permissions, credentials, and encoder settings remain available after reboot.
Or let it run in the cloud
