To stream through Wowza, first create a live event in YouTube Studio and copy its stream URL and key into the matching Wowza destination: Stream Targets → YouTube Live in Wowza Streaming Engine, or an RTMP external-service target in Wowza Video. Test the full route in YouTube’s preview before going public. For a Hindi music playlist, confirm you have the rights to rebroadcast every recording and composition; a playlist or working stream key does not grant those rights.

Check YouTube live-stream eligibility
YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days to go live. Check eligibility in YouTube Studio before troubleshooting your encoder or Wowza connection. YouTube describes encoder streaming as suitable for broadcasts using overlays and production hardware. Clear the music for this broadcast
Before airing the playlist, establish that you have the necessary rights for each sound recording and the underlying composition, for the intended use and territories. A playlist’s existence or public availability does not establish permission to rebroadcast its tracks in a separate live stream. Nor does permission for a different use automatically cover this broadcast.

Create the YouTube destination
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Streaming page and create or select the stream you will use.
- Enter the stream’s title, privacy, description, category and other details.
- Copy the generated stream URL and stream name/key for the Wowza destination. Treat the key like a password: keep it private and do not include it in a public page, recording or message.

Wowza Streaming Engine: add a YouTube Live stream target
- In Wowza Streaming Engine Manager, open a live application.
- Open Stream Targets, add a target under third-party destinations, and choose YouTube Live.
- Enter a unique target name, the incoming source stream name, and the YouTube application or destination details requested by the target configuration. Use the URL and key from the YouTube stream you created.
- Start the H.264 camera or encoder feeding the Wowza application so the source stream reaches the target.
- In YouTube Live Control Room, check the preview and stream health before publishing.
Wowza’s Engine guide describes sending a live stream to YouTube for distributed delivery and adaptive-bitrate playback. Menu labels may change, so use the current interface if the wording differs. Wowza Streaming Engine instructions.
Wowza Video: add YouTube as an RTMP external service
- Create the YouTube live stream first and save its stream URL and key.
- In Wowza Video, select the stream output rendition and choose Add external service.
- Set Provider to RTMP. Enter YouTube’s primary URL and stream key.
- For the primary URL, omit the
rtmp://prefix and trailing slash, as Wowza’s guide specifies. A backup URL is optional; if you use one, enter it in the same way. - Leave target username and password blank, per Wowza’s guide.
- Start the Wowza stream, then check playback in YouTube Live before making it public.
In this workflow, Wowza says YouTube performs transcoding. The guide was updated on 2025-02-24, so confirm labels in the current Wowza Video interface if they have changed. Wowza: Stream to YouTube Live from Wowza Video.

Test before making the stream public
- Confirm the source encoder is sending video and audio into the intended Wowza application or stream.
- Confirm the Wowza target uses the same YouTube URL and key as the stream selected in YouTube Studio.
- Check YouTube Live Control Room for a preview and stream-health information; verify that the Hindi music audio is present and that the picture behaves as expected.
- Keep the stream private or otherwise non-public while checking the route. Publish only when the test is satisfactory and the music rights are in place.
Troubleshooting the route
YouTube does not let the channel start a live stream
Check channel verification and whether a live-streaming restriction applies within the previous 90 days. Resolve eligibility issues in YouTube Studio before changing Wowza settings.
YouTube shows no preview or the stream does not arrive
Confirm the YouTube stream was created and that its URL and key were copied correctly into the target. For Streaming Engine, check that the live application’s source encoder is running and that the target points to the incoming source stream name. For Wowza Video, verify the RTMP provider selection and URL formatting specified above. Then check the YouTube preview and stream health again.

The preview appears, but the Hindi music is missing or wrong
Check that the intended source is feeding the Wowza stream and that the source contains the correct audio. If YouTube raises a copyright issue, review the claim in Studio and use the dispute process only when you have a valid basis. Technical delivery does not establish permission to broadcast the music.
