You can stream chakra meditation music around the clock by looping an audio file with FFmpeg, pacing it in real time, and sending it to the ingest URL and stream key shown in YouTube Live Control Room. The loop is only one part of the setup: YouTube eligibility, music rights, a reliable host and network, and monitoring all matter. FFmpeg does not make a broadcast uninterrupted by itself.
Before you start
- A live-enabled YouTube channel: YouTube requires channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable live streaming in advance. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements and live-streaming tips.
- A source you have the rights to use: Secure rights for the music and any visual material for the intended livestream and any archive. Calling a track “meditation music” or “royalty-free,” or finding it online, does not establish that you have the necessary license. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility for the required rights on the streamer.
- A computer or server that can stay on: This method depends on FFmpeg continuing to run and on the host’s power and network connection. You are responsible for detecting failures and restarting the process.
- FFmpeg and an audio file: The command below is a starting point for an MP3 input. Confirm that your installed FFmpeg build supports the output options you use.
A still image or other simple visual can be paired with the music if your chosen encoder setup requires video. A static visual does not resolve copyright questions or guarantee compliance with YouTube’s policies.
Set up the YouTube stream
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and create or select a stream. Use the current ingest server URL and stream key displayed there; do not substitute a URL copied from an old tutorial.
- Copy the stream key into your encoder configuration. Treat it like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to submit a feed to your channel. Do not publish it, include it in screenshots, or share a command containing it. You can manage stream settings in YouTube Live Control Room.
- Use the standard RTMP or RTMPS encoder path unless you have a specific reason to use HLS. YouTube recommends RTMPS as the encrypted extension of RTMP. HLS is an alternative for some use cases, but has higher latency and additional segment and playlist requirements. See YouTube’s encoder settings guide and HLS setup instructions.
Prepare and test the audio loop
Check the file boundary
Listen to the end and beginning of the file back to back before relying on a repeat. A loop can repeat indefinitely without sounding seamless: a sharp cut, a short gap, or a timestamp issue can be audible at every boundary. FFmpeg’s loop option does not repair the source or promise a click-free transition.

FFmpeg documents -stream_loop -1 as infinite input looping. For a file input, -re reads at the source’s native rate rather than sending the file as fast as possible. Place both options before the input they apply to. Consult the FFmpeg documentation for the syntax supported by your installed version.

Send the audio to YouTube with FFmpeg
This command is a starting shape, not a tested or guaranteed configuration. Replace the filename and URL with your own values from Live Control Room. In the URL, use the current ingest server URL and your private stream key in the format required by YouTube; never share a real key.

-f flv "rtmps://YOUR_INGEST_URL/YOUR_STREAM_KEY"The audio options encode AAC at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz, which matches YouTube’s recommended advanced settings for stereo audio. The command disables video with -vn; if your account or chosen workflow requires a video track, add a compatible visual source and map the audio and video streams appropriately. YouTube’s encoder guidance does not guarantee that an audio-only output will be accepted for every account or setup.

For a video track, configure a YouTube-compatible resolution and bitrate supported by your connection, then test the actual output. YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR), a 2-second keyframe interval, and says not to exceed 4 seconds. For stereo audio it recommends 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps; its listed 5.1-channel guidance is 48 kHz and 384 kbps. These are encoder recommendations, not promises of audience outcomes. Preview, go live, and monitor the stream
- Start FFmpeg and check its output for connection errors, encoder errors, or repeated restarts.
- Use the Live Control Room preview to verify that YouTube is receiving the stream and that the audio plays as expected before starting the public broadcast.
- Check the channel’s live watch page and listen for the file boundary, unexpected silence, distortion, or a stalled feed.
- Make sure your upload capacity exceeds the stream bitrate, with about 20% headroom as YouTube recommends. Other devices uploading on the same connection can consume that margin. Read YouTube’s streaming tips.
- For a 24/7 run, arrange a person or monitoring process to notice a stopped FFmpeg process, a network failure, silence, or a lost live state. YouTube advises monitoring the stream; that does not mean FFmpeg or YouTube will automatically restart your process after every failure.
Rights, policies, and replay limits
Confirm that your licenses cover continuous livestream use, the territories where the stream is available, and any recording or archive you intend to retain. Music can trigger copyright claims or other restrictions even when the stream is a loop or the channel is live around the clock. A repeating still image does not change the rights status of the music.

YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not establish that an indefinite 24/7 event will be available as one complete replay. If retaining the whole program matters, plan a lawful local recording and storage workflow and check YouTube’s current limits. See YouTube’s encoder instructions.
Common problems and fixes
- YouTube does not receive a signal: Check that the stream is enabled, that you copied the current ingest URL and key from Live Control Room, and that FFmpeg’s output protocol and format match the encoder setup.
- The stream starts but drops: Check the host’s network and power, available upload headroom, FFmpeg logs, and whether the process exited. A lost connection can break the stream; a simple loop command is not a restart supervisor.
- The loop clicks, pauses, or skips: Check the end and start of the source file for a discontinuity and test repeated transitions. The loop option repeats input; it does not edit or crossfade the boundary.
- The sound is distorted or unavailable: Confirm the source can be decoded, the selected audio codec and sample rate are supported by your FFmpeg build, and the bitrate and channel layout are appropriate. Compare the output with YouTube’s encoder guidance.
- The preview is blank or rejected: If the workflow requires a video track, the example’s
-vndisables it. Add and map a compatible visual track, then test before going live. - The stream is live but has no full replay: Do not assume an open-ended broadcast will become one archive. YouTube’s cited automatic-archive guidance applies to streams under 12 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does FFmpeg keep running after I close the terminal?
Not by itself in every setup. Use a process manager or service appropriate to your operating system if you need the encoder to run independently of an interactive terminal, and monitor whether it exits.
Can I use chakra meditation music I found online?
Only if you have the rights needed for the livestream and any archive. Online availability or a “royalty-free” label alone does not confirm that the license covers this use.
Will YouTube save my entire 24/7 stream as a replay?
Do not rely on that. The cited YouTube encoder instructions describe automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, not a complete archive of an indefinite broadcast.
