To keep apartment walkthrough videos live on YouTube around the clock, send a video feed through an encoder using a verified, live-enabled YouTube channel, then monitor the broadcast and preserve your own recording. YouTube may not capture a stream that runs longer than 12 hours, so a continuous live feed and a dependable replay archive need separate plans.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel that is verified, eligible for live streaming, and has had no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube also requires creators to be at least 16 to live stream. See YouTube’s live-streaming access requirements.
- An apartment walkthrough video or a camera and audio source, plus an encoder. YouTube supports software and standalone hardware encoders, as well as mobile and webcam streaming methods; a particular camera model is not required. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
- A reliable internet connection with enough outbound upload capacity for the stream, and a plan to monitor the broadcast.
- Permission to film the property and appropriate safeguards for anyone identifiable in the footage. The applicable rules can vary; check local requirements rather than assuming permission to film.
Enable live streaming well ahead of launch: first-time activation may take up to 24 hours. YouTube’s setup and access guidance is available at YouTube Help.
Set up the YouTube stream and encoder
- Check channel access. In YouTube Studio, confirm that live streaming is enabled and that the channel has no active live-streaming restriction. If this is your first live broadcast, allow up to 24 hours after enabling the feature before expecting to go live.
- Create or schedule the broadcast. Open YouTube Studio and create a live stream in Live Control Room. Add an accurate title and description, choose visibility, and review the stream settings. Do not include a stream key in the title, description, or any public page.
- Copy the connection details. In the stream settings, copy YouTube’s server URL and stream key into your encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone who gets it may be able to send video to your channel. YouTube’s encoder workflow is explained at YouTube Help.
- Connect the video source. For a prerecorded walkthrough, load the video into an encoder that can transmit it as a live feed. For a camera-based walkthrough, connect the camera and audio source to compatible encoding software or hardware. Verify the encoder is sending the intended picture and sound.
- Preview and test. Use YouTube’s preview before starting the public broadcast. Check the watch page from a separate device, confirm the title and visibility, and listen for intelligible audio. YouTube recommends setting up and testing in advance; see its live-streaming tips.
- Monitor while live. Keep an eye on the encoder and YouTube’s live status, and periodically check audio and video from the viewer’s perspective. If you use a backup encoder, test failover and ensure the connection can carry both feeds if they transmit simultaneously.

Plan bandwidth and continuity
Measure outbound upload capacity at the apartment; download speed does not show whether the connection can sustain an outgoing live feed. YouTube says the total stream bitrate must fit within available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% headroom. Its guidance states: “The total bitrate you’re streaming cannot exceed the amount of upload bandwidth available. Leave a bit of room (20% recommended).” See YouTube’s network guidance.

- Test the actual connection and encoder at the location where you will stream, not only on a different network.
- Include every simultaneous feed in your upload calculation. If a backup encoder streams at the same time as the primary, account for both bitrates and the recommended headroom.
- Monitor picture and sound throughout the broadcast and test failover beforehand if you have a backup encoder.
- Do not assume that a particular Indian internet provider, uptime level, or power-backup arrangement is guaranteed to work; these depend on the location and setup.
Handle the 12-hour archive limit
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. It recommends keeping a local archive backup. That means a 24/7 live feed should not be treated as a guaranteed, complete YouTube replay. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
If viewers need a replay, record locally where possible and decide how the broadcast and archive will be managed before launch. Ending and restarting a stream may be part of an archive workflow, but no restart schedule is established here as a universal fix; test the specific setup before relying on it.

Protect originality, privacy, and monetization eligibility
Make the walkthrough useful and original
Do not assume that a 24/7 broadcast is automatically eligible for monetization. YouTube requires channels to apply to and be accepted into the YouTube Partner Program, comply with channel monetization policies, and meet the relevant feature’s eligibility requirements. YouTube’s India-facing page lists ad-revenue eligibility as 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified long-form watch hours in the past 365 days or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the past 90 days. Rules and local feature availability can change; confirm the current requirements on YouTube’s monetization eligibility page.

YouTube’s monetization policy says repetitive or mass-produced material may be ineligible under its “inauthentic content” policy. Near-identical loops should not be presented as a dependable route to monetization. Distinct, original walkthroughs with useful narration, explanation, or other viewer value are a more sound editorial approach, but they do not guarantee acceptance. Get permission and avoid exposing private details
Before filming, get permission from the property owner or authorized manager and from people who may be identifiable. Avoid showing private documents, access codes, personal belongings, or other sensitive information. Check applicable local rules, especially before recording shared areas or residents; these are prudent safeguards, not a claim about a specific India-wide legal requirement.
