You can relay an Urdu internet radio station to YouTube using a software or hardware encoder: enable live streaming on the channel, create a YouTube live event, send the station’s audio feed and a visual source to the encoder, then test the preview before broadcasting. First, confirm that the station has the rights and permissions needed to distribute its programme on YouTube; an existing internet-radio authorization does not automatically clear YouTube use.
Before you begin
- A YouTube channel eligible to stream: YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time encoder access may take up to 24 hours to activate, so enable it well ahead of your planned broadcast. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance explains eligibility.
- The station’s audio feed: Identify a stable source for the actual programme output, such as the station’s online stream, and confirm that your encoder can receive it. Listen for silence, clipping, or interruptions.
- A visual source: YouTube live video needs a visual. A station-branded still or simple waveform/now-playing graphic can suit a radio-first broadcast. Use only artwork and other visual material you are entitled to show.
- A stable upload connection and an encoder: YouTube supports software encoders and standalone hardware encoders. Choose a setup that can send the selected stream settings reliably; a more elaborate production setup is optional, not inherently required to relay an existing online audio feed.
- Rights and local-compliance checks: Confirm the station’s rights to distribute its music and other programme content on YouTube, and establish which Pakistan-specific requirements apply to this station and its feed.
Set up the YouTube live stream
- In YouTube Studio, confirm live streaming is enabled for the channel. If this is the first encoder stream, allow for activation to take up to 24 hours.
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create or schedule a live stream. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that event.
- Keep the stream key private. YouTube describes it as the information that tells the encoder where to send the feed and allows YouTube to accept it; treat it like a password. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before broadcasting.
- In the encoder, choose YouTube as the destination and enter the stream URL and key. Prefer RTMPS, which YouTube recommends, when the encoder offers it.
Connect the station feed and choose a presentation
Audio input
Set the encoder’s audio input to the station’s programme feed, not an unused microphone or the computer’s unrelated system audio. If the feed is being played on the same computer, select the encoder’s appropriate application or system-audio input; if it can be supplied directly as a network stream, use that supported input instead. Monitor the encoder’s audio meters and listen to the output before going live. The exact input names depend on the encoder.
Visual source
Add a station logo, branded still, waveform, or now-playing layout. A static image requires less production work than a full video programme, while a more elaborate layout can make the broadcast easier to identify. Do not add music videos, album artwork, or other third-party visuals unless the station has the required rights for YouTube distribution.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsSoftware or hardware encoder
YouTube describes both software encoders and standalone hardware encoders as options. Software can be convenient if a suitable computer is already available and the station wants to combine audio with a simple graphic. Hardware can suit an existing broadcast workflow that already uses a dedicated encoder. The choice depends on the station’s production needs; YouTube’s guidance does not establish that new equipment is required for relaying an online audio feed. See YouTube’s encoder overview.

Choose reliable encoder settings
Start with YouTube’s supported settings, then select a quality your upload connection can sustain. YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant bitrate; and a recommended keyframe interval of two seconds, not exceeding four seconds. For stereo audio, YouTube lists 128 Kbps. These are platform recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular encoder or connection will perform reliably at every setting.
| Setting | Practical choice | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Protocol | RTMPS, if available | YouTube recommends RTMPS for encoder streaming. |
| Video codec | H.264, H.265 (HEVC), or AV1, as supported by your encoder | These are the video codec options listed in YouTube’s encoder settings guidance. |
| Audio codec | AAC or MP3, as supported by your encoder | These are the audio options listed by YouTube. |
| Audio bitrate | 128 Kbps for stereo, per YouTube’s guidance | This is YouTube’s recommended stereo audio bitrate; it is not a measurement of your feed’s quality. |
| Bitrate mode | Constant bitrate (CBR) | YouTube lists constant bitrate in its recommended encoder settings. |
| Keyframe interval | Two seconds; do not exceed four seconds | YouTube recommends a two-second interval and says not to exceed four seconds. |
| Upload bitrate | Choose a value the connection can sustain, with headroom | Run a speed test and avoid selecting a stream bitrate that leaves too little capacity for a stable upload. |
For a radio station using a still image, the video component may be simple, but it still needs to fit the encoder and YouTube workflow. Use YouTube’s live encoder settings guidance for current platform requirements. A speed test helps estimate upload capacity; it does not guarantee continuous performance, so validate the actual stream in a test.

Test, go live, and monitor the broadcast
- Before a public broadcast, send a private or unlisted test stream where the event settings allow it.
- Open the Live Control Room preview. Check that the station audio is present, the levels are clean, and the visual is correct.
- Review stream health and listen for dropouts, silence, clipping, or audio drift. If the preview buffers, reduce the encoder’s output demand or resolve the upload instability before the public event.
- Once the test is clean, start the scheduled broadcast using the encoder and confirm that the Live Control Room shows the expected incoming stream.
- Monitor the broadcast while it is running. YouTube recommends testing before the event and monitoring during it. A working start does not rule out later upload, source-feed, or rights interruptions. See YouTube’s live-stream testing guidance.
Copyright, music rights, and Pakistan-specific compliance
The broadcaster is responsible for having the rights required to use the live content on Google services worldwide and for meeting applicable laws and regulatory requirements in the territory of the live stream. YouTube’s live-stream terms state: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” Read the YouTube Terms of Service.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. Detection can lead to a warning or replacement of the picture, interruption, termination, or copyright consequences. A license by itself may not prevent interruption if the relevant rights holder has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID. Confirm the rights-holder process as well as the underlying licence before relying on a music catalogue in a live broadcast. YouTube explains this in its copyright guidance for live streams.

- Fully dynamic FM broadcast RDS encoder with up to four independent communication ports
- USB connectivity for local settings and maintenance purposes
- Ethernet connectivity for linking with broadcast automation system
- Control interface based on ASCII commands and UECP protocol
- Supports internet functions and remote monitoring
The applicable Pakistani regulator approvals, registrations, music permissions, recording rights, and other obligations cannot be determined for every station from the fact that it already operates an internet radio stream. They depend on the station, its content, rights chain, and distribution. Verify current requirements with the relevant Pakistani authorities and rights holders for the specific feed before broadcasting; do not assume that YouTube eligibility or an existing internet-radio authorization clears YouTube distribution.
Should you archive the live stream?
Decide before the event whether to keep an archive. Archived live streams remain subject to rights and platform policy; YouTube notes that Content ID claims on archived live streams are made after the stream ends if the stream is archived. Consider this when checking permissions for both the live transmission and any retained recording.

| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot start an encoder stream | Live streaming is not enabled, eligibility requirements are unmet, or initial activation is still pending. | Check channel verification and any live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. If encoder access was just enabled for the first time, allow up to 24 hours for activation. |
| YouTube receives no stream | The encoder has the wrong destination, stream URL, or key. | Copy the URL and key for the correct event from Live Control Room and re-enter them. Keep the key private. |
| The picture works but there is no station audio | The encoder is listening to the wrong input, or the station feed is silent or disconnected. | Select the programme feed as the audio source, check its playback independently, and watch the encoder’s audio meters. |
| Audio is distorted or cuts out | Clipping, interruptions in the source feed, or an unstable upload can affect what viewers hear. | Listen to the test output, reduce excessive input levels, check the station source, and review stream health and upload stability. |
| The preview buffers or the stream drops | The upload may not sustain the chosen output bitrate or may be unstable. | Run a speed test, lower the encoder’s output demand to a sustainable setting, and retest before going public. |
| The stream is interrupted after music or other third-party content appears | YouTube’s live detection or a rights-holder restriction may apply. | Review the rights for that content and whether the rights holder must allowlist the channel through Content ID. Do not assume a licence alone prevents interruption. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is a 24/7 YouTube stream made from uploaded recordings rather than a live relay of the station’s current internet-radio feed, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera or a direct live radio feed. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams what you upload up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. This is a different workflow from relaying a live internet-radio programme, and the rights and local-compliance checks still apply to the uploaded content. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
