To stream an animated fireplace video continuously on YouTube Live from a server, verify that your channel can livestream, create a YouTube broadcast, send the video file to its stream URL with an encoder, then preview and monitor the result. A server can keep the encoder running without your personal computer, but neither YouTube’s guidance nor the setup itself guarantees uninterrupted service or indefinite availability.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has no live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days.
- A server with the video file, encoder software, and a reliable network connection capable of sustaining the selected stream quality.
- An animated fireplace video and any audio track that you are permitted to distribute worldwide in a YouTube livestream and, if applicable, its archive.
- Access to YouTube Live Control Room to create the broadcast and retrieve its stream URL and key.
YouTube describes a 24/7 feed as a valid live-streaming use case. Google for Developers gives the example of a channel broadcasting a 24/7 feed while creating a separate interview broadcast that overlaps it (YouTube Live Streaming API – Understanding Broadcasts and Streams). That establishes that the workflow is anticipated; it does not promise that a particular stream will remain uninterrupted or available indefinitely.
Set up the YouTube broadcast
1. Confirm live-stream eligibility
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must have no live-stream restrictions in the past 90 days. Check eligibility before configuring the server; an encoder cannot bypass a restriction. See YouTube live streaming tips.

In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule the livestream. Set its title, description, privacy, and other broadcast details, then configure the stream for encoder-based streaming. YouTube models a broadcast (the event) separately from a stream (the incoming media feed). For a simple continuous program, use the broadcast and feed arrangement that matches one ongoing show. The API documentation also describes reusing a stream for broadcasts at different times or creating separate streams for separate broadcasts; use separate arrangements when you need to manage distinct events or simultaneous feeds.

3. Copy the stream URL and key
In the stream settings, copy YouTube’s stream URL and stream key into the corresponding encoder fields on your server. Treat the key as a password: YouTube describes it as both the stream’s address and password. Do not publish it, commit it to a public code repository, or include it in screenshots. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube and update the encoder. See Manage live stream settings.
Configure the server encoder and send the video
Use encoder software that can read the fireplace video file and send it to YouTube continuously. The exact software commands and server sizing depend on the file, encoder, operating system, and connection; the cited YouTube material does not prescribe a universal server configuration or test a particular encoder. Configure the encoder using YouTube’s current settings for your chosen resolution and frame rate.
Settings that matter
- Protocol: YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension of RTMP. Choose the RTMPS ingestion address where your encoder offers it.
- Video codec and rate control: YouTube’s encoder guidance includes H.264 and constant bitrate (CBR).
- Keyframes: YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe frequency and says not to exceed four seconds.
- Audio: YouTube’s guidance lists AAC or MP3. If the fireplace video has no audio, confirm that the encoder and stream configuration handle that track as intended.
- Resolution, frame rate, and bitrate: Consult YouTube’s current recommendation table for the selected resolution and frame rate. There is no single bitrate that is appropriate for every resolution, frame rate, server, and network. Ensure the server’s sustained upload capacity can support the chosen output reliably.
Refer to Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for current settings. YouTube advises testing before going live and matching stream quality to a reliable connection.

Keep the file playing
Configure the encoder or playback process to repeat the fireplace video if the intended program is a loop. Confirm that the loop restarts cleanly, that the audio does not unexpectedly stop or restart, and that the encoder continues sending media after a loop boundary. A file that plays once is not by itself a 24/7 workflow.
Run the encoder under a server process manager or equivalent supervision so you can observe whether it remains active and restart it after a local process failure. This is an operational recommendation, not a YouTube guarantee. Test the selected software and server under the expected workload before relying on them for a continuous broadcast.
Preview, start, and monitor the livestream
- Start the encoder and wait for Live Control Room to receive its feed.
- Use the Live Control Room preview to check that the video is visible, the loop is behaving correctly, and audio is present only as intended.
- Start the broadcast when the preview is ready. If you intend it to be public, check the privacy setting and confirm that the watch page is accessible to the intended viewers.
- Check the watch page on another device, including a phone, and verify picture, sound, and playback.
- Monitor stream health and the server process while the broadcast runs. YouTube’s encoder tips describe continuous monitoring; a successful initial preview does not establish that the stream will stay up indefinitely.
Protect rights and comply with YouTube rules
You are responsible for having the rights needed to livestream the visuals and audio. YouTube’s livestream terms state that providers represent they have the necessary worldwide rights to exploit Live Content on Google services, including music licensing rights, and require compliance with Community Guidelines and applicable law. Read the Livestream terms and conditions and check the actual license for each animation, image, sound effect, and music track. A label such as “free” or a subscription to a music service does not, by itself, establish that continuous public livestreaming or archived playback is permitted.

YouTube lets streamers select privacy and configure Content ID and rights policy in stream settings. Those controls do not grant permission to use someone else’s content. Resolve rights before going live, rather than relying on a control-room setting to authorize it.
What 24/7 operation does—and does not—mean
A server can keep the encoder and video playback process running while your own computer is off, but the end-to-end stream still depends on the server, its network, the encoder, and YouTube’s service. The official guidance cited here does not establish a maximum uninterrupted broadcast duration, continuous-feed archive limits, reconnection behavior, or a hardware and network sizing formula for an unspecified video. Test your particular file, software, server, and connection, and verify YouTube’s current controls before promising uninterrupted availability.

Common problems and fixes
- YouTube does not receive a signal: Check that the encoder uses the current stream URL and key, that the selected protocol matches the address, and that the server can reach the internet. If the key may have been exposed or changed, retrieve the current value from YouTube and update the encoder.
- The channel cannot go live: Confirm verification status and whether the channel has a livestream restriction from the preceding 90 days before troubleshooting the encoder.
- The picture stutters or the feed drops: Check server load and sustained upload capacity, then compare the encoder’s resolution, frame rate, and bitrate with YouTube’s current table and the connection’s reliable capacity. Lower the output settings if the connection cannot sustain them.
- The video plays once and stops: Check that looping is enabled in the playback or encoder setup, and test the transition from the end of the file back to its beginning.
- The preview is black or has no sound: Check the selected media file, video and audio tracks, codecs, and encoder output. Verify the preview before starting the public broadcast.
- The broadcast is not visible to the intended audience: Review its privacy setting and test the watch page from a device or account that represents the intended viewer.
- A stream is interrupted: Inspect encoder and server logs, the network connection, and Live Control Room. The materials cited here do not specify a guaranteed automatic-reconnection behavior for this setup, so test recovery with the chosen encoder and server rather than assuming it.
