Short answer: IRL Pro’s documented workflow sends a live feed from your phone to a configured streaming destination using RTMP or SRT. The available IRL Pro documentation does not establish that the app can play or loop a playlist of prerecorded videos. YouTube supports vertical live viewing and lets creators configure vertical layouts in Live Control Room, but that does not prove IRL Pro can produce a native 9:16 output on your particular device. If you mean a live phone camera, use the setup below and verify portrait output before you go public. If you mean prerecorded clips played as a live program, use a separate, verified playout workflow instead.
First decide what you mean by “vertical video playlist”
The phrase can describe two different broadcasts, and the setup depends on which one you want:
- A live vertical phone feed: IRL Pro encodes a camera feed and sends it to a streaming destination. YouTube’s Live Control Room can provide a vertical viewing format, but you still need to verify that the phone and app deliver the intended picture.
- A playlist of prerecorded clips: a playout system must play the files in sequence and send that output to YouTube. The consulted IRL Pro instructions do not document playlist importing, looping, or prerecorded-video playout, so do not assume IRL Pro can do this by itself.
The steps below cover the documented live-feed path. They do not turn IRL Pro into a verified prerecorded playlist player.

1. Check YouTube access for the route you plan to use
YouTube’s mobile-app live-streaming route has its own eligibility requirements: a verified channel, at least 50 subscribers, no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and Android 8.0 or newer. YouTube says first-time mobile live streaming may take up to 24 hours to activate. These are requirements for YouTube’s mobile route; they should not be treated as a complete list of requirements for an encoder workflow using a stream key.

2. Create or schedule the YouTube stream
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and set its title, privacy, and other event details.
- For an encoder workflow, find the YouTube Live server URL and stream key and enter them in the encoder’s destination settings. Treat the key like a password: do not show it on screen or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast to your channel.
- Keep the YouTube destination details distinct from any intermediary service’s ingest address. If a third-party service relays the feed, its publish URL is not the same thing as YouTube’s stream key.
3. Configure YouTube’s vertical layout before the broadcast starts
YouTube Live Control Room’s dual-format setup defaults to horizontal 16:9 and vertical 9:16 together. In the scheduled stream’s vertical preview, you can choose a centre crop, fit to phone width, or stacked layout, then adjust zoom and position. YouTube says the vertical format cannot be added once the stream has started, so make this decision before going live.
In a dual-format broadcast, YouTube says subscribers receive one go-live notification and a shared stream URL. Mobile viewers browsing the Shorts feed see the vertical version; other viewers see the horizontal version. YouTube says the same live chat is used for both formats. Combined metrics are available during and after the stream, while vertical-only metrics become available 24 hours later. These are YouTube platform behaviors, not features supplied by IRL Pro.

4. Configure IRL Pro only after confirming the destination details
IRL Pro’s documented path is to send a live feed using RTMP or SRT to a configured destination. If you use Enhanced IRL as an intermediary, its instructions are specific to that service:
- In the Enhanced IRL dashboard, choose RTMP or SRT and copy the full publish URL.
- In IRL Pro, select the same protocol and paste that URL.
- Choose resolution, frame rate, and bitrate within the limit for your Enhanced IRL key or plan.
- Start broadcasting and confirm the service receives a live signal.
Enhanced IRL describes IRL Pro as supporting RTMP and SRT over one connection, not bonding. Its protocol and bitrate recommendations apply to its own intermediary setup, not to every YouTube encoder configuration.

5. Test portrait framing and audio while the stream is unlisted
Before making an event public, run an unlisted test. Check the preview on a phone and confirm that the expected vertical view is actually present; also check that the important action stays inside the crop and that speech and other audio are clear. YouTube recommends testing mobile audio and video with an unlisted stream and checking network strength. A tripod or phone mount can reduce camera shake; an external microphone may help in a noisy location. These accessories are optional, not prerequisites.
If you specifically want prerecorded clips to play as a live playlist
The documented IRL Pro workflow does not establish a way to import, sequence, or loop prerecorded videos. YouTube’s encoder workflow establishes how to send a live encoder feed, but it does not by itself specify a complete playlist playout setup. You therefore need a separate playback-and-encoding arrangement that you have verified can play your files in order, produce the required vertical frame, and send a compatible live feed to YouTube.

Do not substitute the phone-camera instructions above for that missing playout step. Before scheduling a public event, test the complete chain with an unlisted stream: playlist order and transitions, portrait framing, audio, continuity between clips, and the YouTube preview. The available documentation does not establish which particular playlist software or configuration will work for this use case.
Portrait output and settings to verify
YouTube’s vertical layout controls do not settle whether IRL Pro can send a native 9:16 feed from every Android device. A Google Play review posted August 16, 2026 reports that its author could only stream in landscape or could not find portrait mode. That is one user report, not authoritative proof that portrait output is unavailable. The app listing says it was last updated September 18, 2024; that listing date alone does not establish whether later feature changes occurred.

For an IRL Pro portrait broadcast, verify the result on the exact phone and app version you will use. Check the outgoing preview rather than relying only on the phone’s screen orientation. If an intermediary is involved, keep its protocol, publish URL, resolution, frame rate, and bitrate within the instructions and key limit for that service. The available information does not establish one universal IRL Pro bitrate, resolution, or frame-rate setting for all devices and destinations.
Troubleshooting common failures
- The stream is landscape or the portrait framing is wrong: check the scheduled stream’s vertical preview and layout in YouTube Live Control Room before starting. Then verify whether IRL Pro and the target phone can actually send the intended portrait feed. YouTube’s vertical layout options cannot add vertical format after the stream has begun.
- IRL Pro connects to an intermediary but YouTube does not receive the broadcast: check that you have configured the correct destination at each stage. An intermediary publish URL and YouTube’s server URL and stream key serve different purposes.
- A previously working intermediary URL has stopped working: Enhanced IRL says changing a key’s region or protocol, or rotating the key, invalidates the old URL. Copy the current URL from its dashboard and replace the value in IRL Pro.
- Video becomes unstable while moving: Enhanced IRL recommends SRT rather than RTMP for street-level, single-SIM broadcasting. If SRT remains unstable, its guide recommends lowering bitrate. Results still depend on the route and carrier, so test the actual path you will use.
- The bitrate exceeds the intermediary’s key limit: check the cap for the exact Enhanced IRL plan. Its guide lists 9,000 kbps for Stream Key Lite and Stream Key, 6,000 kbps for OBS Basic and Standard, and 10,000 kbps for OBS Pro. These are Enhanced IRL plan caps, not universal YouTube limits. The guide suggests starting at half the cap while moving and increasing only if bitrate remains stable on a test route.
- YouTube will not let you start from its mobile app: check the mobile-route eligibility requirements above and allow for first-time activation. Do not assume that this mobile-app restriction explains an encoder stream-key failure; the routes are distinct.
- The “playlist” will not play in IRL Pro: playlist playback is not established by the consulted IRL Pro instructions. Use a verified playout-and-encoding workflow rather than assuming a camera streaming app can play files.
