To stream a Punjabi music radio channel live on YouTube, first secure permission for the specific recordings and compositions in your playlist, then make sure your channel is eligible for live streaming. Build the audio-led feed in an encoder, connect it to YouTube Studio with the stream URL and key, preview it, and monitor the broadcast for copyright warnings. A music subscription or a Content ID check is not a substitute for the rights needed to rebroadcast songs.

1. Clear the music rights before preparing the playlist

A Punjabi radio-style livestream can involve rights in both the sound recording and the underlying musical composition. Identify every track and confirm that you have permission for the intended YouTube live use and territories. Rights may involve artists, labels, publishers, and other royalty participants; which permissions apply depends on the catalog and location.

YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions place responsibility on the broadcaster: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” The terms do not establish one universal license form. Confirm the permitted platform, territories, live use, duration, and whether an archive is covered with the relevant rights holders or a qualified licensing professional.

Ask about Content ID allowlisting

YouTube scans live broadcasts for third-party matches. Even if you hold a license, a stream may be interrupted if the rights owner has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Ask the owner to allowlist the channel and clarify any territorial or catalog restrictions before going live. A license and an allowlist address different problems: the license grants permission; allowlisting helps prevent an authorized broadcast from being treated as an unapproved match.

Do not treat a subscription or “free” label as clearance

A consumer music subscription does not, by itself, establish permission to rebroadcast its songs on YouTube. Credit in the description, a claim that a track is free, or a test broadcast that does not trigger a match also does not prove that you have the necessary rights. YouTube says Content ID may flag music described as free and cannot know about rights purchased elsewhere. Its safe-music guidance describes public-domain music or music used with the copyright owner’s permission as copyright-safe and recommends the Audio Library, while advising creators to check third-party license terms. That guidance is not blanket clearance for commercial Punjabi catalog tracks or a continuous radio broadcast.

Creator Music usage details also exclude live streams from Creator Music licenses and revenue-sharing use. A Creator Music license therefore does not clear a live radio-style broadcast.

2. Confirm that your channel can go live

YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-stream restrictions during the preceding 90 days. First-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours, so check eligibility before scheduling a program. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.

3. Choose an encoder and assemble the feed

An encoder sends the audio and visual feed to YouTube. For an audio-led Punjabi program, you can use computer software to combine the music or presenter audio with a still image, title card, or other visual. YouTube describes encoders as suitable for broadcasts that use overlays or external audio and video equipment. A software encoder is an option; dedicated hardware is not required.

Workflow What it suits Trade-off
Computer software encoder Flexible scenes and an audio-led program built on a computer The computer must remain available while it sends the broadcast.
Standalone hardware encoder A workflow that may need unattended or computer-free operation Check the device’s cost, setup, and actual scheduling features against your needs.
Cloud continuous-stream service A workflow intended to avoid maintaining a dedicated local computer Depends on a third-party service and does not provide music rights.

YouTube’s encoder instructions and verified-encoder directory list software and cloud options, including OBS, Gyre, and Upstream. The directory also lists the AJA HELO Plus and describes its PlayToStream feature as able to schedule prerecorded media to YouTube Live without a computer. Treat these as options to investigate, not as proof of current prices, terms, or suitability for a particular rights arrangement. No encoder or service grants permission to use music.

4. Create the broadcast in YouTube Studio

  1. Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live, then create or schedule the broadcast.
  2. Copy the connection details. Copy YouTube’s server URL and stream key from the live-stream setup.
  3. Configure the encoder. Paste the server URL and key into the encoder’s stream settings. Add your music or presenter audio and the visual element for the broadcast.
  4. Start the encoder and check the preview. Confirm the feed arrives in Live Control Room and that its audio and visual elements are correct.
  5. Start the YouTube broadcast. For a scheduled workflow, click Go live after the preview arrives.

Keep the stream key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream. Avoid displaying it on air or in screenshots. YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours; do not plan on an uninterrupted 24/7 archive from one broadcast.

5. Monitor the live stream and handle warnings

Keep Live Control Room available while you broadcast. YouTube says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content from another live broadcast. A match can cause a placeholder to replace your stream, a warning, interruption, or termination if the material remains. See YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.

  • If a warning appears: stop or replace the flagged material and resolve the rights issue; leaving it in the feed can lead to interruption or termination.
  • If a licensed song is matched: contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting. A license alone may not prevent an automated interruption.
  • If the stream stops: check Live Control Room and the Studio dashboard for the status or warning, then resolve the indicated issue before restarting.

Or let it run in the cloud

If you want a YouTube stream of uploaded recordings without keeping a computer running at home, StreamNeo runs the loop from the cloud. The setup is: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It is for uploaded videos, not a camera feed, and it does not clear music rights; you still need permission for every recording and composition you broadcast.
