To share a prerecorded concert as a scheduled YouTube event, upload it and set it as a Premiere in YouTube Studio. Fans get a public watch page where they can set a reminder, watch together, and chat while the video plays; afterward, the concert remains on your channel as a regular upload. Before you publish, clear the rights for the music, recording, performers, and footage.
Choose the right format for the concert
A YouTube Premiere is the simplest fit when the concert itself is prerecorded. It pairs a scheduled video with a shared viewing experience and live chat, without requiring you to broadcast the concert from an encoder at showtime.

Both options require rights clearance for the concert media. Calling a presentation a Premiere does not grant permission to use its music or footage.
Clear the concert rights before uploading
Confirm that your permissions cover the sound recording, compositions, performers, footage, territories, the scheduled presentation, and the video archive. YouTube’s livestream terms say the content provider represents and warrants that it has the necessary rights for use on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. A license alone may not prevent an interruption. YouTube warns that a live stream containing licensed third-party content can still be interrupted if the rights owner has not added the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Ask the rights holder to confirm allowlisting for the channel before the event. Details: Copyright issues with live streams.
- Check that both the recording and the underlying compositions are covered; permission for one does not necessarily cover the other.
- Confirm performer, venue, and recording permissions, as applicable to the production.
- Check territory coverage and whether the grant covers both the event presentation and the archived upload.
- For licensed third-party content, verify the channel’s Content ID allowlist status with the rights owner.
Upload and schedule the concert as a Premiere
- Prepare the final concert video. Review the master, title, thumbnail, description, and visibility before scheduling. YouTube’s Premiere documentation says 360/VR180 video and output above 1080p are not supported for Premieres; check the current limits if your master uses either format. See Premiere a new video.
- Upload in YouTube Studio. Start the normal video upload for the concert recording.
- Set the event time. In the upload flow, choose Schedule and select the date and time.
- Enable Premiere. Select Set as Premiere, then finish the upload and scheduling flow.
- Check the watch page. Once available, use the public watch page as the event link. Confirm that the event details are right before sharing it.
Exact Studio labels can change, so consult YouTube’s current Premiere setup instructions if the upload flow differs.

Promote the watch page and help fans arrive together
Share the public watch page through the artist’s social channels, website, and mailing list. Ask fans to select Notify me on the page so they can receive reminders. YouTube recommends scheduling at least 24 hours ahead to give audiences around the world an opportunity to see the thumbnail in their subscriptions. YouTube says people who set a reminder receive a notification about 30 minutes before the Premiere and another when it starts; these are platform notifications, not a guarantee that every fan will see or open them. - Use one consistent event link in every announcement.
- State the start time clearly, including the time zone when your audience spans regions.
- Invite fans to arrive early and use chat to say where they are watching from or share a favorite song.
- Post a reminder close to the start time for fans who may have missed the original announcement.
Make the chat part of the concert experience
Turn on live chat for the Premiere and plan who will host and moderate it. A host can welcome viewers, share brief context about a song or the recording, ask a question between songs, and acknowledge fan comments without talking over the performance. YouTube recommends acknowledging Super Chat, Super Stickers, and members when those features are available to the channel. Keep prompts brief and schedule them at natural breaks so the concert remains the focus.

Optional: add a live introduction with Live Redirect
If you want an artist or host to welcome viewers live before the concert, schedule a separate live stream and use YouTube Live Redirect to send viewers to the Premiere. The redirecting creator must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. Redirecting viewers to another channel’s live stream requires that channel’s permission. Check YouTube’s Live Redirect requirements before building the handoff into your event plan.

A Premiere without a separate live introduction avoids that extra stream and redirect setup. Choose the live lead-in only if the live host experience is worth the additional preparation.

- The Premiere option or expected format is unavailable: Check the video format and resolution against YouTube’s current Premiere limits; 360/VR180 and output above 1080p are not supported for Premieres according to YouTube’s documentation. Review Premiere a new video.
- Fans cannot find the event: Share the public watch page rather than an unrelated channel link, and confirm the event’s schedule and visibility in Studio.
- A fan did not receive a reminder: Reminders depend on YouTube notifications and viewer settings. Encourage fans to visit the watch page and arrive before the scheduled start rather than treating notifications as guaranteed delivery.
- Music triggers a live interruption: A license may not be sufficient if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel in Content ID. Contact the owner and confirm allowlisting; see YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.
- The live introduction cannot redirect viewers: Check that the redirecting channel meets YouTube’s more-than-1,000-subscriber and no-Community-Guidelines-strikes requirements. If redirecting to another channel’s live stream, confirm that channel’s permission. See Live Redirect.
