You can turn a podcast archive into an always-on YouTube channel by continuously playing cleared episodes into a live audio-video feed and sending that feed to YouTube. YouTube manages the broadcast, but it does not supply or loop your archive; a separate player or service must select episodes, create the feed, and keep it running.
How the pieces fit together
In YouTube’s live-streaming model, the broadcast is the event or video viewers see, while the stream carries the audio-video feed. YouTube’s API can manage these resources and documents a 24/7 broadcast pattern, but it does not play podcast files for you. Your system must supply the continuous content feed. See Google’s YouTube Live Streaming API overview and guide to broadcasts and streams.
A cloud service can be part of this design, but “cloud” alone does not mean “podcast archive player.” For example, Google Cloud’s Live Stream API accepts live SRT or RTMP input and transcodes it into HLS or DASH output stored in Cloud Storage. Its documented functions include backup-input options and live-to-VOD support; the documentation does not describe a turnkey system that selects podcast episodes, loops them, and delivers the result to YouTube. Confirm the complete path from archive to YouTube before choosing an architecture.

Choose how the archive becomes a continuous feed
Decide how episodes will be selected and sequenced, and what component will turn them into a continuous audio-video feed acceptable to your delivery setup. Podcast audio alone is not an audio-video feed: plan the visual element as well, such as episode artwork or a show slate, and check that your player or service supports the formats you intend to use. The official YouTube and Google Cloud documentation cited here does not prescribe a particular archive scheduler or turnkey vendor.

When evaluating a proposed service or setup, ask:
- Feed responsibility: Who selects episodes, queues or loops them, and creates the continuous audio-video feed?
- Input and delivery: Does it accept your archive and produce a feed that can actually be delivered to YouTube? Google Cloud’s documented SRT/RTMP inputs and HLS/DASH outputs describe its transcoding capabilities, not by themselves a complete YouTube delivery path.
- Continuity and recovery: What happens if the input, player, or connection fails? Google Cloud documents backup input support, but that does not guarantee uninterrupted operation for a particular design.
- Replay behavior: Can the YouTube broadcast be archived, and how will you manage the resulting recordings?
- Rights handling: Who confirms permissions for every episode and handles claims or Content ID allowlisting?
- Terms and cost: Ask providers directly about current pricing, usage charges, retention limits, and service terms; the documentation cited here does not establish those details.
Set up the YouTube broadcast and connect the feed
You can manage broadcasts and streams in YouTube’s interface or through its API. The API route requires an implementation that creates and manages YouTube’s broadcast and stream resources; merely enabling an API does not create an archive player. Google’s Life of a Broadcast guide explains the lifecycle, and the LiveBroadcasts resource documentation describes broadcast settings.
- Prepare the source. Arrange your cleared episodes in the intended order and configure the player or service to produce a continuous audio-video feed. Verify that its output and delivery method match the YouTube stream you plan to use.
- Create the YouTube broadcast and stream. A broadcast represents the event or video; a stream represents the incoming content feed. If using the API, create the resources with the intended broadcast details and stream configuration.
- Bind the resources and connect the feed. Associate the broadcast with the stream as described in YouTube’s API workflow, then configure your feed source to send content to the stream. Treat the stream key as a secret: do not publish it, put it in public screenshots, or expose it in a public repository.
- Test before going live. Use a testing phase where appropriate to confirm that audio and visuals arrive, the episode sequence behaves as intended, and the broadcast is associated with the correct feed. Fix problems before making the channel public.
- Set archive behavior deliberately. Choose the broadcast’s archive settings based on whether viewers should be able to replay it. YouTube documents post-broadcast conversion to a video; a completed recording may not be available immediately, particularly after a long stream.
Plan for 24/7 operation and viewer replay
YouTube’s API guide describes a 24/7 pattern in which a continuing feed remains active while a separate broadcast begins and later completes on that stream. This shows that the feed and viewer-facing broadcast have distinct roles. It is an API scenario, not a requirement that every creator create overlapping broadcasts. Choose a lifecycle that fits your channel, and test how your implementation handles transitions before relying on it for continuous programming.

Decide separately whether a live event should be recorded for replay. Archive settings control whether YouTube records the broadcast, and completed broadcasts may take time to become available as videos. For a long-running channel, define how you will organize, review, and manage completed recordings rather than assuming that every segment will be immediately available in the form you expect.
Clear rights for every episode before rebroadcasting
Having published a podcast does not by itself establish that you can continuously rebroadcast every component on YouTube. Check rights for the full audio and visual material, including music, clips, guest contributions, artwork, and other royalty participants. The relevant scope may include worldwide exploitation.

- PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
- WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. - FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.

YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions say: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” This is YouTube’s platform language, not legal advice.
YouTube says it scans all live streams for matches to third-party content. If it identifies a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn the creator to stop; an unresolved match can lead to temporary interruption or termination. A license does not necessarily prevent interruption: YouTube says a licensed third-party stream can still be interrupted if the channel is not on the content owner’s Content ID allowlist. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and arrange allowlisting with the rights owner when required.

Common setup problems
- YouTube shows no incoming content: Check that the feed source is running, is configured with the intended stream key, and is sending to the stream bound to the broadcast. Keep the key private; if it may have been exposed, replace it and update the feed configuration.
- The feed works but the broadcast is not live: Confirm that the broadcast is bound to the correct stream and has moved through the required lifecycle state. Review YouTube’s broadcast lifecycle guide rather than assuming that creating a stream alone starts a viewer-facing event.
- Episodes do not advance or repeat as expected: Inspect the archive queue and player or service behavior. YouTube manages the broadcast and stream resources; it does not correct a faulty episode scheduler.
- The recording is not available immediately: Check the broadcast’s archive settings and allow time for YouTube to process a completed event. Its documentation does not promise immediate availability for long broadcasts.
- The stream is interrupted by a copyright match: Identify the matched material, stop or replace uncleared content, and contact the rights owner about any needed license or Content ID allowlisting. A license alone may not prevent interruption if allowlisting is required.
- A cloud transcoder is not delivering to YouTube: Verify the whole signal path. A service that accepts live input and outputs HLS or DASH is not necessarily configured to supply YouTube’s required feed; check the service’s documented outputs and delivery workflow.
