You can turn a podcast back catalogue into a continuous YouTube Live radio channel by arranging episodes into a playlist and sending them through an encoder to a YouTube stream. You need a verified, eligible channel, rights to all the material, a stable upload connection, and a computer or hosting service that keeps the encoder running. Keep a separate recording: YouTube says a live stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive.
Before you start: check eligibility and rights
Confirm your channel can go live
YouTube’s live-streaming guidance says your channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube also says streamers must be at least 16. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance before scheduling the broadcast.
Audit every episode for streaming rights
Having permission to publish a podcast in its original feed does not necessarily give you every right needed to rebroadcast it on YouTube. Check the episode recording, music, clips, guest contributions, artwork, and any other audio or visual material. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility for necessary rights on the person providing the live content, including music licensing rights. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions and resolve rights questions before going live.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can trigger a warning, interruption, or termination; in some cases, a rightsholder may need to allowlist your channel even when you have a license. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Prepare the podcast radio feed
Organize episodes and presentation
Choose the episode order and prepare the visual that will accompany the audio. A static image or simple visualizer is a production choice, not a YouTube requirement. Keep episode files and their titles or other metadata separately so you can recover the sequence and make individual episodes available outside the continuous broadcast.
Choose an encoder and a running host
YouTube accepts encoder-based broadcasts using its stream URL and stream key. The encoder can be software on a computer or a hardware encoder; whichever you use must stay connected and send the feed for as long as you want the channel to run. YouTube describes a 24/7 live-feed model in its Live Streaming API documentation, but ordinary creators can set up a broadcast in Live Control Room without building an API integration.

Set up the broadcast in YouTube and the encoder
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create and then Go live. Choose the encoder option and create or select the broadcast. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions for the current interface.
- Copy the stream URL and key. Enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or include it in your on-screen graphics. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Configure compatible output. YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists RTMP or RTMPS delivery, H.264 video, and AAC or MP3 audio. Its recommended keyframe interval is 2 seconds. Check YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for current resolution-specific bitrate guidance; match the encoder to your chosen output and available upload capacity.
- Load the episode sequence. Set the encoder or playback workflow to move through the prepared episodes in order and continue from one episode to the next. Confirm that the audio source is routed to the encoder and that the visual output is present if you are sending video.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Start sending the feed, then verify in Live Control Room that YouTube receives it and that the preview shows the expected picture and sound. Start the live broadcast from the control room when the preview and stream health are acceptable.
Test reliability and preserve a local copy
Leave bandwidth headroom
Test with audio and video similar to what you plan to broadcast. YouTube recommends leaving about 20% upload-bandwidth headroom rather than using all available upload capacity. Check the connection and stream health in Live Control Room, and monitor the broadcast for audio dropouts, frozen video, or other quality problems. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
Record locally and verify the file
Do not rely on YouTube to preserve a complete replay of a continuous radio stream. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all. Enable a local recording if your encoder supports it, and check that the file is actually growing while the stream is live. YouTube also recommends keeping a local archive; see Archive live streams and its encoder tips.

Understand monetization and episode discoverability
A live channel does not guarantee YouTube earnings
YouTube applies its channel monetization policies to live streams. Its policies require monetized content to be original and authentic, and repetitious or reused material can affect channel eligibility independently of whether you have copyright permission. A podcast archive’s eligibility depends on the channel and the actual programming; the format alone does not establish monetization. Review YouTube channel monetization policies and how live-stream monetization works.
Keep the continuous stream alongside episode files
A 24/7 feed gives listeners one always-on destination, while separate episode uploads can provide individual titles and replay pages. Neither format is universally preferable. Keep original episode files and metadata available so you have a recovery copy and can publish individual episodes where that better serves your audience.

Troubleshoot common problems
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: Check that the encoder has the correct stream URL and current stream key, and that it is actively sending. Replace a key that may have been exposed and update the encoder with the replacement.
- The preview is unstable or the stream drops: Check upload capacity, reduce output demands if needed, and leave the headroom YouTube recommends. Test the same kind of audio and video before returning to a long broadcast.
- Audio is missing or distorted: Confirm the episode player is routed to the encoder, check its selected audio input and output format, and listen to the YouTube preview before launching the continuous feed.
- A copyright warning interrupts the stream: Identify the matched material and resolve the rights issue; if you hold a license, ask the rightsholder whether your channel needs to be allowlisted. Do not assume permission for a podcast feed automatically covers YouTube live rebroadcast.
- The YouTube replay is incomplete or absent: A stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Use the local recording as the preservation copy and verify that it is being saved during the broadcast.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a computer or home connection to run continuously, StreamNeo keeps an uploaded-video YouTube stream running from the cloud. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed.
