You can stream a Marathi radio playlist to YouTube Live with a computer and encoder, but do not start until you have permission for every recording and composition for the intended live broadcast and territories. A publicly available station stream or purchased song does not by itself grant livestream rights. Even with permission, YouTube may interrupt the broadcast if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID.
Before you stream: clear the music and visuals
Make a track-by-track rights check before configuring the broadcast. YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions put responsibility on the provider to hold the necessary rights for live content, including music rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants.
- Identify each recording and composition. A song can involve separate rights in the recording and the underlying composition. Identify the people or organizations that control the relevant rights for every playlist item.
- Confirm the scope of permission. Ask for permission that expressly covers live transmission on YouTube and the countries or territories where the broadcast can be viewed. If you plan to keep the stream replay available, confirm that the permission also covers the archived replay.
- Arrange Content ID allowlisting. A license and platform allowlisting are separate matters. YouTube says a licensed stream can still be interrupted when the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel. Ask the owner to allowlist your channel in advance if they use Content ID.
- Clear the visuals too. Covers, photos, video clips, logos and other third-party material shown on screen need appropriate rights as well. A static image does not make an uncleared music playlist safe.
- Keep the documentation accessible. Retain permission records and a contact for the rights owner so you can respond promptly if the stream is flagged.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, including other broadcasts. It may show a placeholder and warn the streamer; if the matched material continues, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. A detection event is not the same question as whether you obtained legal permission: if you have permission, YouTube’s guidance is to ask the rights owner to allowlist the channel. No source establishes that any particular Marathi radio station playlist or song is cleared, so check your own tracks and rights holders.

Why common assumptions do not establish permission
- A song being publicly available on a radio station, website or video platform does not grant you a right to rebroadcast it.
- Buying or possessing a recording does not itself authorize a livestream.
- Credit, a “free” label or a claim that a song is royalty-free is not a substitute for checking the actual license and its terms.
- Public domain, permission, applicable Creative Commons terms and platform music sources may be possible routes, but YouTube says none guarantees avoidance of copyright claims or strikes. Rights rules can differ by country or region.
Creator Music usage details do not provide a workaround for a live radio playlist: YouTube limits its licensed and revenue-sharing tracks to long-form videos, not live streams or Shorts. Any separate license still needs to cover live use and the relevant territories.

Check that your channel can go live
YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Check access to live streaming in YouTube Studio before you schedule the playlist; do not wait until the planned broadcast to discover an eligibility restriction.
Choose a streaming method
YouTube describes mobile, webcam and encoder streaming. For a computer-based playlist with a visual or overlays, an encoder is a practical option. YouTube lists software encoding among the ways to stream and says expensive equipment is not required to get started. A hardware encoder is positioned for higher-production events, not as a requirement for playing a playlist.

| Method | When it fits | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Mobile | A stream run directly from a phone | Check YouTube’s method-specific eligibility and whether the phone workflow can present your playlist as intended. |
| Webcam | A straightforward camera-based broadcast | Less suited to a playlist that needs a designed visual or overlays unless your chosen setup supports them. |
| Software encoder | A computer-based playlist with a visual or overlays | Configure the encoder, preview the event in Live Control Room and monitor the stream while it is live. |
| Hardware encoder | A higher-production event | YouTube presents this as an option for higher-production needs; the playlist task alone does not establish a need to buy one. |
YouTube’s HLS setup guide lists OBS as compatible with HLS output and specifies audio parameters for that protocol. HLS has higher latency than RTMP, so choose a protocol supported by your encoder and suited to your stream; a basic playlist does not automatically require HLS.

- Verify eligibility. Confirm channel verification and that there is no live-stream restriction within the preceding 90 days.
- Prepare a rights-cleared playlist. Check each recording, composition, territory and any planned replay against your permissions. Add only visual material you are also entitled to use.
- Choose an encoder and protocol. For a computer playlist with an on-screen visual, configure a software encoder such as OBS. Use a protocol your encoder supports; refer to YouTube’s HLS instructions if you choose HLS rather than assuming it is necessary.
- Schedule or create the event in YouTube Studio. Use the stream setup shown for your event and connect the encoder to the event using its stream key. Treat the stream key as a secret: do not publish it or include it in a screen capture.
- Preview before going public. Check the Live Control Room preview, confirm the event is accessible as intended, and listen for clean, continuous audio. Make sure the visual is correct and that no unintended desktop audio or material is being transmitted.
- Go live and monitor it. YouTube’s live-streaming tips recommend testing, previewing and monitoring quality. Keep an eye and ear on the broadcast so you can respond to missing audio, a frozen visual or a rights warning.
- Check any archive separately. If you intend to leave a replay available, confirm that your permissions cover that use and, where appropriate, verify that local archive files are being written.
Troubleshoot common problems
- You cannot start a live event: Check whether the channel is verified and whether a live-stream restriction occurred in the past 90 days. Resolve eligibility before changing encoder settings.
- YouTube displays a copyright warning or placeholder: Stop and identify the matched material. If you do not have rights, remove it rather than continuing. If it is licensed, contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting; permission alone may not prevent an automated interruption.
- The stream is interrupted despite your license: Ask the rights owner whether the channel was allowlisted in Content ID and whether the permission covers the actual broadcast, territories and any replay. Keep the permission documentation available.
- There is no audio or the sound is wrong: Check the encoder’s selected audio source and levels, then confirm the audio in the Live Control Room preview before restarting or continuing.
- The event is not accessible as expected: Check the event’s visibility and schedule in YouTube Studio, then confirm the preview and event destination before sharing it.
- You are considering HLS to fix latency: HLS has higher latency than RTMP according to YouTube’s HLS setup guidance. Confirm the protocol requirement in your encoder and event setup instead of switching protocols without a reason.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the playlist is cleared and your goal is to keep pre-recorded video live on YouTube without leaving a computer running, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, then go live. It plays uploaded videos; it does not broadcast from a camera, and it does not replace the need to secure music rights and arrange any required Content ID allowlisting.
