You can stream a looping yoga nidra playlist to YouTube Live from a Mumbai-based Linux VPS using FFmpeg. Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, feed FFmpeg a rights-cleared recording or playlist, and send the output to YouTube over the RTMPS address shown in Live Control Room. The VPS location is optional: Mumbai alone does not guarantee a reliable route to YouTube, so test your server’s sustained upload and the full stream before going live.
What you need before starting
- A Linux VPS with enough CPU capacity for your chosen playback method and, if needed, video encoding.
- A rights-cleared yoga nidra recording or prepared playlist, including narration, music, images and any other included material.
- FFmpeg installed on the VPS. Available options and codecs can vary by build; check the installed version and its supported encoders.
- A YouTube channel that is eligible to livestream, with live access activated.
- The RTMPS server URL and stream key for the encoder stream you create in YouTube Studio.
YouTube says first-time live activation may take up to 24 hours, so activate and test the channel before the planned broadcast. YouTube’s encoder streaming instructions describe creating or scheduling the stream and using Live Control Room.
Prepare the YouTube Live stream
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream using the encoder workflow.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream. Prefer the RTMPS URL when your FFmpeg build supports it. RTMPS carries RTMP over TLS/SSL; YouTube documents port 443 for RTMPS ingestion. YouTube’s ingestion protocol documentation explains the supported ingestion protocols.
- Keep the key secret. Treat it like a password: do not publish it in a script, screenshot, public repository, or command history that other users can read. Restrict access to configuration files and rotate the key in YouTube Studio if it is exposed.
- Before announcing the broadcast, start a test feed and wait for the incoming preview. Check stream health in Live Control Room and confirm audio and video are arriving as expected.
Prepare and test the playlist on the VPS
Check the actual media files
Inspect the source video and audio before choosing an FFmpeg command. Resolution, frame rate, codecs, audio layout, and whether the stream must be re-encoded affect CPU use, compatibility and bandwidth. Test the entire playlist, including transitions and the last file returning to the first, rather than assuming one file’s behavior represents the whole broadcast.
For a single input file, FFmpeg documents -stream_loop -1 for infinite looping. It also documents -re as reading input at its native frame rate (equivalent to -readrate 1); real-time pacing is useful when output packet timing matters, as in live streaming. The FFmpeg manual documents these options. Their placement and the right output/encoding settings depend on your media and FFmpeg build, so validate the complete command with your own file before relying on it.

Choose a playback and encoding approach
If the source is already compatible with YouTube’s expected ingest and you can pass its streams through without re-encoding, that can reduce VPS CPU use. If you need to change codecs, resolution, frame rate or audio format, encode deliberately and monitor CPU and network use during a sustained test. Do not assume a VPS size is adequate without knowing the source format, encoding work and provider’s sustained outbound performance.
FFmpeg commands include credentials if the stream key is embedded in the destination URL. Avoid sharing such commands or leaving them in world-readable scripts or logs. Use a configuration method with access limited to the account that runs the stream, and verify the final destination string privately before launch.

Start the broadcast and verify it
- Start the FFmpeg process on the VPS with the selected input, looping/pacing behavior, output settings and YouTube RTMPS destination.
- Return to Live Control Room. Wait for the incoming preview and check that the image, narration and music are present and in sync.
- Check YouTube’s stream health and the VPS process and network status. Do not treat a successful process start as proof viewers can see a healthy stream.
- Start or schedule the public broadcast in YouTube Studio as appropriate for your setup. Keep monitoring the feed, particularly after making changes to files, encoding settings or the VPS.
Plan for archives, interruptions and rights checks
Archive duration
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If a replay archive matters, end and restart the broadcast before it reaches 12 hours, and keep a separate source copy rather than relying on the live archive as your only recording. YouTube Help describes the archive behavior.
Copyright and yoga nidra content
Confirm that you have rights for the complete intended use of the recording, narration, music and other included material. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content matches. A match may replace the picture with a placeholder and interrupt or terminate the stream. A license does not necessarily prevent an interruption: YouTube says a rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance explains these checks.

Recovery planning
A self-managed FFmpeg process and VPS need an operator to notice and address failures. Test what happens if the process exits, the server reboots, the VPS loses outbound connectivity, or YouTube stops receiving the feed. Arrange process supervision and alerting appropriate to your environment, and have a restart procedure. A Mumbai server’s physical location does not establish the quality of its route to YouTube’s ingestion endpoint.
Troubleshoot common failures

VPS versus a cloud looping service
A VPS gives you control over the Linux environment and FFmpeg workflow, but you are responsible for server capacity, file handling, process monitoring and recovery. A cloud looping service can remove the need to keep a personal computer online, but check its supported media, storage, recovery behavior, price and how it handles your stream key and account access before choosing it.
