You can stream a prerecorded Hindi yoga nidra session on YouTube Live without using a phone: run OBS on a computer, add the recording as a looping Media Source, and connect OBS to a YouTube encoder stream. Test the full broadcast—including audio, the file’s loop point, and stream health—before sharing it. If you need the stream to continue without keeping your own computer on, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative described below.
What you need for a phone-free stream
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. YouTube says the channel must be verified and have no live-stream restrictions in the past 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it in advance. YouTube’s computer streaming guidance
- A computer with OBS installed and a local copy of the recording. The computer and its internet connection must stay available for the duration of this do-it-yourself stream.
- A stable upload connection capable of sending the selected stream quality, plus permission to use all the recording’s audio and video.
YouTube treats encoder, mobile, and webcam streams as different methods. An encoder running on a computer fits a phone-free workflow; YouTube’s mobile route is separate and has its own requirements. Its mobile guidance lists at least 50 subscribers for mobile live streaming, which is not an encoder eligibility threshold. YouTube mobile live-streaming guidance
Connect OBS to a YouTube Live stream
- Enable live streaming early. In YouTube Studio, check that live streaming is available for your verified channel and that no live restrictions apply. Initial activation may take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube Help; the retrieved page does not state a publication date.
- Create an encoder stream. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream using the encoder option. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- Enter the stream details in OBS. Open OBS’s stream settings, choose the YouTube service if available, and enter the URL and key as appropriate for the selected configuration. YouTube describes the stream key as the credential that tells the encoder where to send its feed. Treat it like a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not broadcast to your channel. YouTube encoder setup guidance
- Make a private test before the event. Start the encoder setup early enough to see the incoming feed in the Live Control Room preview and check stream health before announcing or scheduling the broadcast.
Add the Hindi yoga nidra recording and turn on looping
- In OBS, create or select a scene for the broadcast.
- Add a Media Source to that scene and select the local recording file. OBS lists common supported media formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV. A file’s extension alone does not guarantee that it will play correctly in your particular setup, so confirm playback in the preview.
- In the Media Source properties, enable Loop. Play the source and let it reach the end during testing to confirm it starts again as intended.
- If the session consists of several files, OBS’s VLC Video source can loop a playlist, but VLC must be installed. Add the files in the desired order and test the transition from the final item back to the first. OBS media sources documentation
- Check that the scene with the recording is active and that its audio meter responds. Listen to the Live Control Room preview as well as checking OBS: a meter moving locally does not by itself confirm that viewers are receiving the audio.
Set output quality and verify the broadcast
Choose a resolution and bitrate your actual upload connection can sustain. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate with a representative stream that includes audio and motion, then checking the Live Control Room preview and stream health. A still or slowly changing meditation visual may use less video data in practice, but it does not prove that an unstable connection will hold.
- Protocol and video: YouTube’s general encoder guidance recommends RTMPS, H.264, and constant bitrate encoding.
- Keyframes: Set a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds.
- Audio: YouTube recommends 128 Kbps stereo audio as an encoder setting. This is a recommendation, not a universal requirement for every stream. YouTube live encoder settings
- Test the whole loop: Confirm the opening, audio, end of file, and restart. Keep the Live Control Room preview open during setup and monitor stream health when the broadcast is running.
These are general encoder recommendations; the right resolution and bitrate depend on the computer, encoder configuration, and upload connection. YouTube’s guidance recommends beginning encoder setup ahead of the scheduled event and inspecting the preview and audio/video quality. YouTube streaming setup guidance

Check rights before broadcasting the recording
Being prerecorded does not exempt a stream from copyright checks. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or lead to termination. YouTube also says that licensed third-party content may still be interrupted unless the rights holder adds the channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube live-stream copyright guidance
- Confirm you have permission to broadcast the complete recording, including narration, background music, images, and any other included material.
- If a rights holder licensed the material to you, ask whether your channel needs to be added to its Content ID allowlist before going live.
- The ownership and permission status of your particular Hindi yoga nidra recording cannot be determined from its language or subject. Do not assume it is cleared simply because it is a meditation recording.
YouTube’s copyright guidance is separate from its reused-content monetization rules; this workflow does not establish whether a channel or recording qualifies for monetization.

Choose a setup that fits the time you can monitor it
| Option | Fits when | Trade-off to consider |
|---|---|---|
| OBS on a computer you already have | You can keep the computer, OBS, and network connection running, and can monitor the broadcast. | It depends on your own computer and connection remaining available. The information provided here does not establish that any particular computer or network is sufficient for your stream. |
| Standalone encoder hardware | You specifically prefer a dedicated encoder workflow and have assessed the hardware for your setup. | YouTube recognizes hardware encoder streams, but the available information does not establish a need to buy one for this recording. |
| Cloud-hosted looping | You need the broadcast to continue without keeping a personal computer on at home. | Check the service’s YouTube support, operating terms, and price. StreamNeo’s stated option is detailed below. |
For a computer-based stream, an unattended broadcast still depends on the computer and connection staying up. A phone is not required for the encoder workflow, and the available information does not establish a need to buy a computer, microphone, cable, or dedicated encoder.
Troubleshoot common setup problems
- Live streaming is not available in Studio: Check channel verification, live-stream restrictions, and whether activation is still processing. First activation may take up to 24 hours; do this well before the planned stream.
- OBS connects to the wrong stream or fails to send video: Recheck that the URL and key belong to the intended Live Control Room stream. Keep the key private; if it may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
- The recording stops at the end: Reopen the Media Source properties and confirm Loop is enabled. Test through the file’s end rather than assuming the setting took effect.
- A playlist will not play: If using OBS’s VLC Video source, confirm VLC is installed and that the playlist items play in the intended order. Test the final-to-first transition.
- The preview has no audio: Check the OBS source’s audio activity and the Live Control Room preview. Verify the correct scene and media source are active, then test again before the scheduled stream.
- The stream health is poor or unstable: Follow YouTube’s recommendation to test upload capacity with a representative stream, and lower the output demand if the connection cannot sustain the selected quality. Recheck the preview and health indicators.
- The stream is interrupted after going live: Review YouTube’s copyright notice and identify any matched material. Confirm rights for all audio and video; licensed content may still require a Content ID allowlist entry from its rights holder.
