You can stream a prerecorded fireplace video with relaxation sounds as a continuous YouTube Live broadcast using OBS Studio: create a YouTube broadcast, add the video as a looping Media Source, connect OBS with your stream key, and check the preview before going live. Your computer, internet connection, and OBS must stay running for this local method. If you want the stream to continue without a computer at home, a cloud service is another option.
Before you start
- Prepare the media. Have a fireplace video with the relaxation audio mixed in, or prepare separate clips and audio for OBS. Check that playback loops cleanly and that the sound level is consistent.
- Clear the rights. Confirm that you have permission to broadcast every visual and audio element, including music, ambient sounds, artwork, and stock assets. Check whether the license covers live streaming, your intended territories, monetization, and an archived replay. Keep documentation of your permissions.
- Enable YouTube Live early. First-time live access may take up to 24 hours to activate, according to Google’s Full Live Production guide. Verify the current interface and allow time before your planned broadcast.
- Install OBS Studio and make sure your computer and network can remain available for the whole broadcast.
Set up the YouTube broadcast and OBS
- Create the broadcast: Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream, then enter an accurate title and description and select the appropriate audience and privacy settings.
- Connect OBS to YouTube: In OBS, choose YouTube or YouTube RTMPS as the streaming service and connect it to the broadcast with its stream key. Follow OBS’s current YouTube connection flow; its YouTube setup guide covers stream-key configuration. Treat the key like a password: never publish it or share it in chat.
- Add the fireplace video: In OBS, add a Media Source, select the prepared video file, and enable the source’s loop option. If your footage and relaxation audio are separate, add the audio source too, then check that it continues smoothly at the loop point.
- Check the scene and sound: Make sure the video fills the intended canvas, the audio meter responds, and the relaxation sound is audible without clipping. For multiple clips, check transitions and sound levels before broadcasting.
- Send the stream and inspect it: Start streaming in OBS, then check the Live Control Room preview and stream health. Confirm that both the picture and sound arrive as intended. Use YouTube’s Go Live control if the selected broadcast settings require it.
- Keep the local setup running: For a local OBS broadcast, leave OBS and the computer on and keep the internet connection available. Disable sleep or automatic shutdown if the stream is meant to continue unattended, and monitor the broadcast.
Choose stream settings carefully
Resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and keyframe interval affect stream quality and stability. Check YouTube’s current encoder guidance and OBS’s current interface before setting them; technical recommendations can change. A third-party looping guide, updated June 12, 2026, discusses H.264, CBR, a two-second keyframe interval, and example bitrates, but those examples should not be treated as permanent settings or as a substitute for current YouTube guidance.
Understand copyright and archive risks
YouTube says it scans live streams for third-party content, including content appearing in another live broadcast. If its systems identify a match, YouTube may show a placeholder, warn you, interrupt the stream, or terminate it if the matched content remains. Even when you have a license, the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist for live use. Archived broadcasts can also receive Content ID claims after the stream ends. A receipt or a “royalty-free” label alone does not establish that an asset is cleared for your particular live stream and replay. Read the actual license terms, obtain any required permission or allowlisting, and do not assume that a cleared live broadcast will remain claim-free after archiving.

Plan for long broadcasts and replays
Google’s Full Live Production guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived and recommends manually recording and uploading streams longer than 12 hours. If keeping a replay matters, arrange a separate recording for a broadcast that may exceed 12 hours rather than relying on automatic archiving.

OBS is a practical choice if you already have a local setup or need scene-level control. A cloud service may suit an unattended loop when you do not want your own computer and connection to carry the broadcast.
