You can run a country-music radio-style YouTube livestream around the clock with an encoder that continuously sends audio and video to YouTube Live. Before you build the playout system, clear the music for this specific use and check that your channel is eligible to livestream. A continuous-production setup is not a guarantee that YouTube will stay connected or preserve a complete 24-hour replay.
Check YouTube eligibility before setting up the station
As of YouTube Help guidance checked in 2026, the channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. The person starting the stream must be at least 16 years old. First-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours, so enable it and confirm access before your planned launch (YouTube: Get started with live streaming; YouTube: Stream with an encoder).
- Sign in to the YouTube account for the channel and complete channel verification.
- Open YouTube Studio and check that live streaming is available for the channel. If this is the first time enabling it, allow up to 24 hours.
- Confirm that the channel has no live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days and that the person operating the broadcast meets the age requirement.
Clear the music and visual rights first
Do not assume that permission to play a song on terrestrial or internet radio also covers a YouTube livestream. Rights depend on the tracks, ownership, territories, and intended use. Confirm the permissions for your actual YouTube broadcast with the relevant rights holders or a qualified local adviser before transmission. A Content ID allowlist is not a substitute for obtaining those rights.
YouTube says, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” If YouTube identifies third-party material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder image and warn you to stop using the content; continuing can lead to interruption or termination. A copyright or Community Guidelines strike can also end a livestream. YouTube says even licensed music can trigger an interruption unless the rights holder has added the channel to its Content ID allowlist, including when a stream is restricted to territories where the creator believes it has the necessary rights (YouTube: Copyright issues with live streams).

YouTube for Artists advises: “If you’re planning on using copyright-protected music during your live stream, we recommend coordinating with your label or distributor to avoid any issues, such as copyright strikes.” Contact the label or distributor about clearance and allowlisting, but do not treat an allowlist as proof that every required right has been secured (YouTube for Artists).
Plan a visual as well as the audio: YouTube’s encoder workflow sends an audio-and-video feed. A station logo, still image, or animation can provide a consistent identity, but you need rights to use that artwork and any other visual material in the stream.

Choose how the station will play continuously
YouTube supports encoder-based streams using software on a computer or a standalone hardware encoder. Its encoder directory also includes a cloud service for continuous streams of prerecorded video. The options below are operational approaches, not a performance ranking; YouTube’s directory does not provide comparative uptime testing for a country-radio station.

Compare the total cost, whether a computer must run at home, playlist and scheduling controls, audio routing, resilience to power or connection loss, and how you will notice and recover from an interruption. Choose based on your own workflow; no single approach is established as best for every station.

Build the encoder feed and start the YouTube stream
YouTube’s documented encoder workflow is to create or schedule a stream in Live Control Room, copy its server URL and stream key into the encoder, start sending the feed, inspect the preview, and then go live. Exact encoder menus vary by software or device, so use its current YouTube setup option where available rather than assuming labels are identical.
- Prepare the program. Organize the country-music playlist and prepare the visual. Confirm that the playlist can repeat or otherwise continue without an unattended stop, and that the source audio and visual are routed into the encoder.
- Create the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a livestream. Choose the title, description, and other stream details for the station.
- Copy the connection details. Copy the server URL and stream key shown by YouTube into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Keep the stream key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your broadcast.
- Configure and start the encoder. Select the intended audio and video inputs, then start streaming from the encoder so YouTube receives the feed. For a standard encoder workflow, use the encoder’s current YouTube preset when available rather than guessing at transport settings.
- Check the YouTube preview. Confirm that the audio is audible, the visual appears as intended, and the preview is receiving the expected feed. Resolve problems before inviting listeners.
- Go live and monitor. Start the broadcast from Live Control Room, then keep a person or monitoring system responsible for connection status, playback, and YouTube copyright alerts.
YouTube’s encoder workflow covers a range of software and hardware, so there is no single bitrate or resolution value that applies to every encoder setup in this article. Follow the current YouTube settings shown for your stream and the supported settings in your chosen encoder. A separate YouTube HLS implementation has protocol-specific requirements—muxed M2TS audio/video, H.264 or HEVC video, AAC audio, one encoded stream, and HTTPS—but those requirements are for HLS and should not be treated as a universal checklist for ordinary encoder streaming (YouTube Live HLS ingestion guide).

Test continuity and plan for interruptions
Before launch, test the entire chain rather than only checking that the encoder can connect. This is operating practice, not a YouTube uptime guarantee.

- Check that the visual is stable and that you have permission to use it.
- Run the encoder and verify the feed in YouTube’s preview before going live.
- Check the internet connection and the power arrangements for any computer or hardware that must remain on.
- Decide who will notice a dropped input, connection failure, or copyright alert, and document how to restart playback and the encoder.
- After a restart, verify in Live Control Room that the resumed feed is actually reaching YouTube.
A continuous playlist cannot prevent YouTube from interrupting a stream, and a connection or equipment failure can stop the feed. Rights matching can also interrupt it, even when the operator believes the music is licensed. Build monitoring and a recovery procedure into the station plan instead of treating “24/7” as a platform guarantee.

Know what YouTube will archive
YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its encoder guidance does not promise a complete archive for a single 24-hour session. If a full replay matters, make an independent recording or consider multiple shorter scheduled streams, and confirm YouTube’s current archiving behavior before relying on it (YouTube: Stream with an encoder).

Can I use a song on YouTube Live if I have a license?
A license does not necessarily prevent YouTube from interrupting a live match; the rights holder may also need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Confirm both the relevant rights and the allowlisting process with the rights holder or its label or distributor.
Can YouTube save a full 24-hour livestream?
YouTube’s cited encoder guidance confirms automatic archives for streams under 12 hours, but does not promise a complete archive for one 24-hour session. Make an independent recording if a full replay is important.
