To stream recorded church Bible studies continuously on YouTube, send a prepared video feed from an encoder to a YouTube Live stream. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the stream, copy its server URL and stream key into the encoder, preview the feed in Live Control Room, then start and monitor it. A local encoder can work, but it must remain running; a cloud service can keep the feed going without a church computer left on.
Choose a workflow for a prepared feed
YouTube supports webcam, mobile, and encoder-based live streaming. For a continuous channel built from existing Bible-study recordings, an encoder is the appropriate documented route: it sends a prepared or produced feed and can work with external audio and video equipment. Webcam streaming is intended for a quick stream from a computer webcam, rather than a scheduled rotation of recordings. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains how to connect an encoder, but does not itself provide playlist looping or an unattended 24/7 playback service.
You can run an encoder locally on a computer or use a cloud service. With a local setup, someone must keep the computer, encoder, and internet connection available and be ready to restart the feed. For a continuous channel, assign a person to check the stream, notice failures, and restart it; YouTube does not promise uninterrupted operation.

Before scheduling anything, inventory the videos and check every element in them: music, performances, Scripture readings, slides, images, clips, and other third-party material. Confirm that the church has the rights needed for both the live broadcast and any saved archive. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions say the channel must have all necessary rights for live content on Google services worldwide, including applicable music licensing rights.

YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the feed with a placeholder and warn the channel; continued use can lead to interruption or termination. If the church has a license for third-party content, ask the rights holder to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. A license alone may not prevent interruption when the channel is not allowlisted. Review YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams before broadcasting.
Live content must also comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines. Rights clearance and policy compliance are separate checks: permission to use a recording does not make it exempt from platform rules.
Enable live streaming and create the YouTube event
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube’s live-streaming getting-started guide says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. Complete the channel’s live-stream enablement steps before the planned broadcast; eligibility or activation may not be immediate.
- Open YouTube Studio and Live Control Room. Create a live stream or schedule one for a future time. Scheduling creates a watch page the church can share in advance. YouTube says scheduled streams may appear to subscribers as upcoming, and viewers can choose to receive a notification.
- Set the stream details. Add an accurate title, description, audience setting, and other event details. If reusing a previous setup, verify the event metadata and stream key rather than assuming they remain correct. YouTube’s live stream settings guide covers settings such as DVR, auto-start, and auto-stop.
- Copy the ingest details. In Live Control Room, copy the YouTube server URL and stream key into the matching fields in the encoder. Treat the key as a credential: do not publish it or share it in public documents. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and replace the old key in the encoder before streaming again.
Configure the encoder, preview, and start
In the encoder, select the prepared feed or playlist and enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key. Encoder software and hardware differ, so exact playlist and looping controls depend on the tool chosen; YouTube’s official setup instructions explain the connection but do not prescribe one encoder or document a universal looping configuration. Confirm that the encoder can repeat the recordings in the intended order before relying on it for a continuous channel.

Use the encoder and YouTube preview to check that both picture and sound are reaching the event. If the stream includes live narration or commentary, a microphone is optional audio hardware; YouTube lists microphones among common encoder equipment, but does not prescribe a particular model. For a recordings-only feed, focus on the audio already present in the videos and verify that it is audible without distortion or long silent gaps.
YouTube’s streaming tips recommend setting up an encoder at least two hours before a scheduled event and starting it at least 15 minutes early. Check the Live Control Room preview before starting the event. For a recurring or continuous stream, use those checks during initial setup and whenever the source, encoder, or key changes.
Plan monitoring, recovery, and archives
YouTube recommends testing a backup encoder or failover, checking that the local archive file is growing and intact, confirming the event works on the channel page, watch page, and mobile, and continuously monitoring audio and video quality. After an event is stopped on YouTube, stop the encoder too. A continuous channel needs an operating plan beyond the initial launch:

- Name the person responsible for checking the feed and specify how often they check it.
- Decide how the operator will learn that the stream has stopped or lost audio or video.
- Document who can restart the encoder and where the stream key is stored securely.
- Test the backup encoder or failover path rather than assuming it will work when needed.
- Keep the original study recordings separately if the church needs reliable copies, and verify the local archive when one is being recorded.
Do not treat a long live feed as a guaranteed single archive. YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; they do not establish that a longer broadcast will be saved as one complete recording. Decide whether to keep each study as an ordinary upload, split long sessions, and retain independent backup copies.

Troubleshoot common problems
YouTube does not accept the encoder feed
Check that the channel is eligible for live streaming, that the encoder has the current server URL and stream key, and that the encoder is actually sending. If the key was reset or replaced, update it in the encoder. Keep the key private; anyone with access may be able to send a feed to the stream.
The stream starts, then is interrupted
Check Live Control Room for warnings and review the recording for third-party music, images, clips, or other matched material. A Content ID match can replace or interrupt the feed. For licensed third-party material, request Content ID allowlisting from the owner; permission by itself may not stop a live interruption.

Monitor audio and video continuously, as YouTube recommends. Check the source recording, encoder audio input and output, and the Live Control Room preview. If the stream includes live narration, verify the microphone and its connection; for prerecorded material, check that the recording itself contains the expected audio.
The feed stops while the church computer is unattended
A local encoder depends on the computer and its connection remaining available, and the operator needs a way to detect and restart failures. Test backup or failover in advance and assign a named person to respond. Alternatively, use a cloud workflow such as StreamNeo so a home computer does not need to stay on.
A long broadcast is missing or incomplete in the archive
YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, not a single complete archive for broadcasts longer than that. Retain source files independently, consider dividing long sessions, and check the local archive file while the encoder is running.
