You can schedule a YouTube live stream of church-created Christmas service recordings by sending them through an encoder, then monitoring the broadcast in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. YouTube does not document a built-in looping feature for prerecorded files or guarantee an unlimited, uninterrupted stream, so plan this as a supervised broadcast and test your playback setup before going live.
Before you stream: check rights and channel eligibility
Confirm rights for every part of each recording
Make an inventory of the recordings and check that the church has the necessary rights to stream and archive everything they contain in the intended territory. Pay particular attention to songs, arrangements, background tracks, and third-party video. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions place responsibility for necessary rights, including music licensing rights, on the provider. A license’s actual coverage depends on its terms; this guide cannot determine whether a particular license is sufficient.
Check the channel before the planned date
YouTube requires an eligible, verified channel to live stream. Its stated setup condition includes having no live-stream restrictions during the previous 90 days. A strike can trigger a 14-day live-streaming restriction. YouTube also states limits of 10 active streams per channel and three active streams per stream key. Check current eligibility in YouTube Studio before scheduling rather than discovering a restriction on broadcast day. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup requirements.
Schedule the encoder stream in YouTube Studio

Sign in to YouTube Studio and open the Live Control Room. Choose the option to schedule an encoder stream, then enter the service title, description, planned start time, and audience setting. Review the metadata and audience selection before saving.

In the stream setup, retrieve the stream URL and stream key. Enter these into the encoder that will send the recording playback to YouTube. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it beyond the people who need it to configure the encoder.

Choose the stream controls deliberately. YouTube provides settings such as auto-start and auto-stop, along with options for DVR, latency, and archiving. Set them to suit the church’s operating plan and the viewing experience you want; no single configuration is right for every service replay.

Prepare the encoder’s playback source. The exact method for playing one recording or a sequence of recordings depends on the encoder and its playlist capabilities; YouTube’s reviewed guidance does not establish a built-in loop for prerecorded files. Confirm that your chosen encoder can perform the intended playback and unattended operation rather than assuming it will repeat content indefinitely.

YouTube’s setup guidance covers mobile, webcam, and encoder workflows. A software encoder on an existing computer may be enough for a simple replay. A dedicated hardware encoder is optional; YouTube recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production-value events, but says expensive equipment is not needed to start. Test, start, and supervise the broadcast

Run a complete test before the planned broadcast. Check that the encoder connects with the correct stream key, the recording plays as intended, and YouTube’s Live Control Room shows a usable preview.

At the scheduled time, confirm the stream is reaching YouTube and use the Live Control Room to start or manage it according to the auto-start and auto-stop settings you selected.

Monitor picture and sound while the stream is live. YouTube recommends checking the preview and ongoing stream quality; do not treat a successful connection at startup as proof that the whole broadcast will remain uninterrupted.

If the stream ends or develops problems, check the encoder’s playback and connection, the Live Control Room preview, and any notices from YouTube. The reviewed YouTube guidance does not promise unlimited duration or uninterrupted all-day playback.
Understand copyright interruptions and archived-stream claims
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. It may replace a stream with a placeholder or interrupt or terminate it if identified content remains. As YouTube explains in Copyright issues with live streams: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.”

Having a license does not necessarily prevent an automated interruption. If licensed material is detected, contact the rights holder and ask whether it can add the church’s channel to its Content ID allowlist. Decide separately whether to archive the broadcast: archived live streams can receive Content ID claims after the stream ends.
Monetization review is a separate matter from copyright enforcement. YouTube’s reused-content rules also apply to live streams; minimal changes or unclear authorship can put monetization eligibility at risk even if the original creator gave permission. Keep clear records showing that the church created the services, and do not assume that holding licenses guarantees monetization approval. See YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
