You can run a 24/7 YouTube meditation channel by sending prerecorded video and audio to YouTube Live through an encoder, or by using a cloud service built for prerecorded streams. For a do-it-yourself setup, verify your channel’s live access, prepare content you have rights to stream, configure and test the feed, then monitor it continuously. A round-the-clock stream needs a plan for playback, network or encoder failures, copyright checks, and local archiving.
Choose how to keep the stream running
YouTube’s encoder workflow lets you send a prerecorded feed as a live stream. Running an encoder on your own computer gives you control over playback, but the computer, playback process, and internet connection must remain available. A cloud service can keep playback running without a home computer; YouTube’s encoder directory lists both OBS as open-source streaming software and a cloud service for 24/7 prerecorded-video streams. - Run an encoder locally: Use this route if you want to manage the playback and stream from your own computer. Test what happens when a file ends, the computer restarts, or the network disconnects.
- Use a cloud service: This avoids leaving a computer and home connection running for the stream. Check how the service handles playback, recovery, storage, monitoring, and support before relying on it.
Check that your channel can go live
YouTube requires the channel to be verified and not to have had live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days. First-time activation of live streaming can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s encoder guide, so enable access well before your planned launch. Review Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder and YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions.
Prepare meditation video and audio you can legally stream
Use video and music for which you have the necessary rights for worldwide live streaming. A track being available online, royalty-free, or licensed for personal use does not by itself establish that you may use it in a YouTube live stream. YouTube’s terms place responsibility on the creator to obtain all necessary rights, including music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other rights holders. Keep the license and permission records, and check that the license covers the territories, live use, and any archive you intend to retain.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. If you have a license for third-party content, the rights holder may also need to allowlist your channel through Content ID; a license alone may not prevent an interruption. An unresolved match can cause YouTube to replace the stream with a placeholder or interrupt or terminate it. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and resolve permissions before launch.
For monetization, permission is not the only consideration. YouTube says reused content with minimal changes may violate its monetization policies even when the creator has permission, and reused-content review is separate from copyright enforcement. Make your authorship and original contribution clear rather than assuming that looping stock visuals or another creator’s soundtrack will qualify. Check YouTube’s channel monetization policies before applying to or relying on the YouTube Partner Program.

Create a YouTube Live stream and connect the encoder
- Open YouTube Studio and create a live stream. Select the stream type, enter its title and other metadata, and schedule it if you want viewers to see it as upcoming or opt into a notification.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key. Enter both in your encoder’s streaming settings. YouTube describes the key as the credential that tells the encoder where to send the feed and lets YouTube accept it. Treat it like a password: do not publish or share it, and reset it if it is exposed.
- Set up continuous playback. Configure the encoder or playback workflow to play your intended prerecorded sequence continuously. Decide what should happen when a source file ends, the host restarts, or the connection drops. Do not assume that looping or reconnecting will work as intended until you have tested those cases.
- Start a private or otherwise suitable test stream. Check the Live Control Room preview and confirm the audio and picture are correct before opening the stream to viewers.

Test reliability before making the stream public
YouTube’s event guidance recommends setting up an encoder at least two hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start, then checking the preview. For a continuous channel, use that as a launch-day buffer and turn the remaining checks into a recurring health routine. These recommendations do not guarantee an uninterrupted 24/7 feed.

- Leave bandwidth headroom: YouTube recommends keeping 20% of upload bandwidth available beyond the total streaming bitrate. This is operational guidance, not a performance guarantee. Avoid saturating the connection with other uploads or activity.
- Check the viewer experience: Confirm that the stream can be watched from the channel or watch page and on mobile. Listen for gaps, clipping, silence, or mismatched audio and video.
- Test failure and recovery: Simulate or safely test a source-file end, encoder restart, and network interruption. Verify that playback resumes as intended and that the feed returns in YouTube Live Control Room.
- Verify local recording: If you record locally, check that the file exists, plays correctly, and continues to grow while streaming. YouTube recommends verifying local archive integrity.
- Watch stream health and storage: Check YouTube’s stream-health indicators, the playback process, available storage, and the network on a regular schedule. Keep a person responsible for responding to problems; unattended streaming is not the same as monitored streaming.

Plan for the archive and viewer controls
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A 24/7 stream therefore should not be treated as a guaranteed full-day YouTube archive. If preservation matters, record locally and verify the recording rather than relying on YouTube to retain the whole stream. See Archive live streams. An external SSD is one optional place to store source files or local recordings; YouTube’s guidance does not specify a required capacity or brand.

Decide whether viewers should be able to pause and rewind using DVR or should join at the current live point, then verify the current stream settings. A scheduled stream may appear as upcoming in subscribers’ feeds, and viewers can opt into notifications. Check Manage live stream settings for the available controls.

Troubleshoot common 24/7 stream problems
- You cannot start a live stream: Check channel verification and whether live-stream access is restricted. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours for it to become available.
- YouTube does not accept the encoder connection: Confirm that the encoder has the correct stream URL and current stream key. If the key may have been exposed or changed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- The stream drops or becomes unstable: Check YouTube’s stream-health information, the local playback and encoder processes, and the internet connection. Reduce competing network use and preserve the recommended 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. Test how the encoder reconnects rather than assuming it will resume.
- Playback stops when a video ends: Review the playlist or loop configuration and test transitions between files. Configure a defined next item or restart behavior, then verify the sequence before going public.
- The live stream is interrupted for a copyright match: Stop using the matched material until the rights are resolved. Confirm that your license covers the intended live use and ask the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting where applicable.
- The full stream is missing from YouTube’s archive: This may happen when a stream exceeds 12 hours. Use a verified local recording when you need a complete archive.
- Audio or picture is wrong for viewers: Check the Live Control Room preview, playback source, audio continuity, and a viewer-facing watch page or mobile device. Correct the source or encoder configuration before continuing a public stream.
