To stream a tropical rainforest ambience video on YouTube around the clock, send a prerecorded video through YouTube Live using an encoder. You can run encoder software on a computer, use a cloud service built for continuous prerecorded streams, or use a standalone hardware encoder. Before launch, enable live streaming on a verified channel, use footage and audio you have rights to broadcast, match stream quality to your upload capacity, and test the complete feed. One important limit: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; it does not promise an archive for a single uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast.
Choose how to keep the stream running
YouTube supports software encoders, cloud streaming tools, and standalone hardware encoders. Its documentation lists OBS as streaming software and Gyre as a cloud tool for continuous streaming of prerecorded video. These are examples, not independently tested recommendations; YouTube’s documentation does not compare their prices, uptime, or performance.

Check channel access and prepare cleared media
Enable YouTube Live before launch day
- Your channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before you intend to start.
- Confirm that the channel can create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room.

Clear every visual and sound
Use footage and audio you created, or obtain permission that covers the way you plan to use them. A “royalty-free” label alone does not establish permission for worldwide YouTube live streaming, replay archives, or Content ID clearance. Review the actual license for territory, live use, archival use, and music rights, and keep copies of licenses and clearances.
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match can interrupt or terminate a feed; even licensed material may be interrupted unless the rights holder adds your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Archived streams can also receive Content ID claims after the broadcast. YouTube’s copyright help for live streams explains the scanning and allowlisting issue. Its livestream terms require you to have the necessary rights for worldwide use of live content, including applicable music licenses.

Set up the YouTube encoder stream
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Go Live. In the Live Control Room, create an encoder stream or schedule one. Follow the current prompts for the stream’s title, visibility, and other details.
- Copy the stream URL and key. Enter them in your encoder’s YouTube destination settings. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Choose a secure transport. YouTube recommends RTMPS for secure stream transport. Use it if your encoder supports it.
- Configure the video to fit your source and connection. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends H.264, H.265, or AV1 and recommends constant bitrate. Select a resolution and frame rate your source, encoder, and upload connection can sustain; do not upscale low-resolution footage just to select a larger output setting.
- Set bitrate using YouTube’s table, then leave headroom. YouTube recommends 6 Mbps for H.264 at 1080p60. That figure is specific to that codec, resolution, and frame rate; it is not a universal setting for every stream. Use YouTube’s current encoder settings and bitrate recommendations for other combinations.
- Measure upload capacity under realistic conditions. YouTube recommends leaving 20% of upload bandwidth available beyond the stream bitrate. Account for other devices and activity on a shared connection; your actual available upload capacity can vary.
YouTube’s cited encoder pages do not specify a special bitrate for rainforest ambience. Match settings to your source and the applicable YouTube recommendation, then test the actual feed.
Test and start the continuous broadcast
- Start a test feed with the same video motion and audio you plan to use live. A static image test will not reveal all problems that may show up with moving foliage, rain, or continuous sound.
- Inspect the preview in the Live Control Room. Check that both picture and sound arrive, the framing is correct, and the stream is not unintentionally muted or clipped.
- Open the public watch page on a phone as well as a computer. Confirm that the video plays and that the title, visibility, and audio are right for viewers.
- Check stream health while the encoder is sending data. If you have a backup connection or failover arrangement, test it rather than assuming it will take over correctly.
- When the preview and settings are correct, start the broadcast from the encoder and go live in the Live Control Room as prompted.
YouTube warns that a connectivity disruption can break a stream. A 24/7 schedule therefore needs a plan for monitoring and recovery, not just a successful initial start. [YouTube streaming tips and encoder guidance]

Plan for replays and monetization separately
Do not assume a 24-hour broadcast will be archived
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. It does not promise automatic replay archiving for a longer, uninterrupted broadcast. If preserving replays matters, decide whether to run shorter sessions, accept that a long session may not be archived, or keep a separate local master. [YouTube encoder guide]
Continuous watch time does not guarantee monetization
YouTube’s encoder guide says live-stream monetization is available to channels in the YouTube Partner Program. That does not establish eligibility for a particular channel or mean a repetitive ambience format will qualify under monetization policies. Do not treat continuous viewing time as a promise of monetization.

Troubleshoot common failures
